I just came across this thread and all I can really say is wow. The fact that this exist in an online community in todays environment of looking out for number 1 is very inspiring. I was cutting my grass a few weeks ago and my blades stopped cutting. Not knowing what was wrong I took it to Ace which is owned by a guy I went to HS with. He knew about my injuries in Afghanistan and that I'm out if work still waiting on my disability to start coming in from my family I guess. Anyhow, I kept calling to figure out how much it was going to be to fix it so I could figure out what I needed to sell to cover it and he just kept saying he didn't know. Well when I got the call that it was ready, I went up there and Mike wasn't in. The employee told me there was no charge and loaded the mower up. I was taken back. Ill admit that it brought tears to this Marine's eyes. It's the first time that anyone had done something to help me since I've been home. While I was deployed, someone even went under my house and stole my electrical wire. The instance company only paid out $600. A friend a friend recommended a guy who wouldn't rip me off. Well after forking out $1800 that I didn't have, the guy disappeared without ever putting in the new box. I naturally take a person for their word and thought he was a good guy. I know now to never pay before the work is done. I've bad people come estimate and they've all said around $3k which I don't have so I just deal with it. That's what I've come to expect - I guess the experience just jaded me. So to have a guy do this was shocking to me. I've always tried to help people. On several occasion, I've had folks in town come up and ask me for money to get food for their family. Not having an income right myself, I still would go to Little Ceasars and get them a hot an ready pizza. I'm used to being the one to help - never the other way
So back to the forum, really awesome guys. Definitely count me in to gem bomb or anything I can do

There are two things about this forum I really like. How helpful and selfless people are.

It is rare, Cobus, you're right. But that's how we roll, dog. Awesome to hear about the mower. People aren't really like that very much any more. It's partly due to looking out for number one, and partly due to people just being so centered in on their own problems that their misery blinds them to the plights of others. Myke has a stupid face and a tiny IQ. The story of your electric is really a shame. Seriously, contemporary America is supposed to be the pinnacle of human society, but it's scary how selfish and thoughtless people have become, and it's so commonplace. If you didn't live so far away, I'd do up your electric for no charge (except, being also unemployed myself, I wouldn't be able to buy the materials. Blah)!
I saw my name in caps and thought I did something wrong. Haha you're right - me and bombs haven't bad the best of relationships. I don't really know what to sag but thank you. You guys are awesome
And I thought I was getting all these new friend requests because I'm purdy.
