Hey, Chuchuhorse and welcome to the forum! I love the layout of your park! The constellation placement is an Fabulously Gay Idea and I think my favorite island of yours is the maze.
Hi, Chuchuhorse! Your islands are great, so many creative ideas. My two favorites are the Rainbow islands. I really like your concept & execution. I hope you become an active part of our forum--you are sure off to a good start!
Welcome, chuchuhorse! What a great tour to wake to this morning. You have put so much thought and planning into your islands and it really shows well. So glad you took the time to walk us through and point out all the little things we surely would have missed on our own.
Looking forward to your participation in the forum.
I'm floating in euphoria that you all like it! (myke, it's an honor to get POTMed!)
It seems that big dipper and maze have enjoyed the spotlight, though my favorites are the islands of sun and moon. One screenshot won't show how dynamic they are. When the Apocalypse dragon accidentially breath with the erupting of both volcanoes, it's worth viewing. A majority of dragons on the island breath fireballs, though tiny, they still make up quite a sight if the timing is right. Fog dragon is not the apple in many's eye, but wait till you see two or three of them calmly float over the moon.
We have a royal marshal who blows fireworks and a Fool who makes fun of everything, especially the ones who sit high.
Tonight: Mostly clear with some scattered clouds.
Maybe the reason of me holding a high view of these two is that I know what they used to be like, back to when obstacles were the only objects in game that cannot be redeemed. During cleaning, I discovered that the rocks looked like a lion's palm, thus the decision to filled it up with little arrowheads. Great care had been taken to avoid accidentially deleting those rocks, now I don't need to worry about it anymore. And, I think the present symmetry axis is better than the previous one.
The moon island can now be armed with altitude. Larger habitats cover up that mediocre greeness of lawn, making the ground appear to be more personified. Air habitats are taller and thus create a sense of elevation, and the ents finally have a forest "old" enough to go with their name.
Before: After:
If BFS is going to introduce night time into the game in the future, these two island could be even better.
(chuchuhorse is of my classmate's devise. I've forgotten to use in-game ID Eppun when registered. )
^ Dude! The reasoning behind your decorating gets more and more elaborate! That lions paw thing blew my mind.
Also, if you mean you registered with the wrong name t the forum, you can change the way your name displays in your Profile. If you meant your GCID back in the day, than I am sorry to hear that,
I was wondering if anyone here who has made the whole park photos could either tell me how to make one or would be willing to make one of my park for me.
There are instructions in this thread somewhere on how to make these. I'll try to find them for you. But in short, you start with individual screen shots of each of your islands. You crop each island to remove the background stuff. You might have to do some copy/pasting/layering to get individual islands to be complete.
Then, in a program like Photoshop (Photoshop CS2 is free on the Adobe website), you lay out your islands over a background of your choice.
I've never done it myself, but I know from word-of-mouth that it is quite a large amount of work.
No promises I can find the instructions, but I'll try.
I actually wanted to start this as a new thread, but can't seem to see how to do that. Perhaps a kind moderator can move this, if he or she feels it appropriate?
My question I wanted to ask is, "What is your Dragonvale style?" By this I mean, how do you go about designing your islands? Are you all about decorations? Do you prefer the natural look? Do you like the more austere, organized look? How do you approach and/or plan your islands? Do you have themed islands? Basically, what floats your Dragonvale boat (er... I guess that should be "island")?

I'll bite. My style is to create a different environment on each island. I've got a moon and tides island, a green strolling park, a rocky and volcanic mt Olympus, an earth-driven farming community, etc. I want them to look like real places so I don't have too much decor, but I use the landscape elements heavily. I'll have to post pics sometime.
I'm maxed out on gem trades, but always happy to connect for park appreciation purposes.

I like everything to be symmetrical. I have a few themes islands eg; Panlong Island. I use decorations more than natural landscape. I do have an all-natural island though.
Clustered the habitats of the different sizes together for their look, cepting the Plant habitats. Island 8 holds my Periodic Table of Dragon Elements.

I'm still growing and adapting as I move up levels and obtain more islands and habitats. Right now I have a "warm" island that has earth, fire, lightning, and metal habitats, plus their boosters. I chose the more red/orange/yellow decorations for it. Next is my "cool" habitat, set up the exact same way, but for plant, cold, water, and air. I chose blue and green decorations for that one. Third is my random island with no boosters, so I can stick dragons there that might be negatively affected by boosts on the other two islands. Fourth is my epic/limited island, and my fifth island holds the "works" like treat farms, colosseum, race track, breeding cave, hatchery, etc. I'm just getting my sixth island going, and it's my nursery island. I move dragons here after they've been through the fountain of youth, and once some more area clears, I plan to move my breeding cave and hatchery over there. So, I guess my style is to have a different theme on each island!
GCID- peanutzmom:) And yes, you need to include the smiley face
I give gems randomly to those who seem to need them because I'm not organized enough to keep a list, but I'm always looking for more Party Hat friends!
