One of the things I like to do is find out what dragons people don't like and then draw them. Iceberg tends to be generally disliked, and I can understand. In-game he looks kind of goofy. But dang, I love his design! It's really quite cool.
Hi! Nicely done. May I ask what medium this is?

It isfunny. You draw the ones people do not like, but I love the crystal and iceberg. They are both so cute.

I really like Iceberg. Baby cute, adult cool looking even if he looks as if hes gotta weight prob and lumbers around loik a weirdo. Still like him
Crystal--nah. The baby is real cute and all but the adult has such a rotten expression...
Lemmy if you did a Ruby drawing I'd love to see your concept on it, such a beautiful dragon
(also I hate forges, so take that into thought into consideration lol. Its cuz of the 24hrs}
These are all digital! I use a combination of a drawing tablet and some freeshare I found online.
I'd love to hear more about it. I really like the way the colors and the shading blend. Do you suggest a particular drawing application?
No problem, I can talk about drawing until the dragons come home.
My tablet is a Wacom Intuos 4, and I really do love it. I can't speak to any other kind of tablets, but Intuos is always solid.
As to the program, I use something called FireAlpaca. It's freeware, but so far it's been pretty good! The system for layers is good, which was one of the more important things to me. Also, I really like the pen tool; it's what I use for all the lineart on the dragons. It's nice and crisp.
I have to admit though, I haven't done very much work beyond flat coloring. Occasionally when a dragon's design calls for it, such as Blazing or Topaz, I will include a gradient. For Blazing's wings I was able to use a gradient fill, and then I did some breif detail work with the airbrush tool. The airbrush has really soft edges, and so it gives a nice blended look. This is also the tool I used on Topaz's wings.
Finally, I sometimes tweak around with the transparency. All the dragons I've posted are on transparent backgrounds, though it's kind of hard to notice since the forum colors are so light. For the Iceberg dragon anything "made of ice" is semi-transparant, so on a darker background you'd be able to see some of the color through the ice.

Ehehe, sorry that was so long!
Can we see one against a filled background? Please?

No. That is great information. You are very talented. Love the Firefly! Excellent work. Another question? The fine lines that you draw are very accurate and controlled. I would need a drawing implement to draw that well (not my finger, as with most IPad drawing apps.) What do you use for this method of drawing on your tablet?

Ah, I think we have some confusion here. The iPad is a tablet computer, my Intuos is a graphics/drawing tablet. (This is what mine looks like)
A graphics/drawing tablet is a device that connects with the computer and enables a person to draw on the computer just as they would draw with a pencil and paper. The stylus is what allows me to get the lines to look the way they do. Often graphics software will have an option called "pressure sensitivity." It's a really cool trick where if you press harder with the stylus your line can come out thick and dark, and if you ease up on the pressure your line will become thinner and lighter. You can usually turn off one or both of these options.
