Some interesting info - are all 4 element breeding combos equal? Both Fletch and Tricia reported quick success using Love+Salamander to get their Double Rainbows, which got me wondering because it took Manahmanah 291 tries and 355 for me to get 1 DR. Is there a difference in pairs?
Hmmmmmm.........Small samples, but makes one wonder.
Should be 0.3% for the first one, so not as extreme a difference as it appears.
I really highly doubt it makes any difference. The thing with probability, particularly very low or very high probabilities, is that you will have results like this come up.
My post in the 'Last call' thread alludes to this.
Just as Fletch got his within 6 tries, there will be people who have not yet got one in over 700 tries. Both of these are equally likely.
Now bear in mind the number of different combos that people can use. It is inevitable that some people using a certain combo will get lucky while others using different combos will get unlucky. All it takes is for a couple of people using the same combo to get lucky, for that combo to appear more attractive.
This is most obvious with Pearl. As Greg points out, there are a lot of people trying for Pearl and on average, about 1 in 20 of them will net a DR within 10 breeding attempts.
So consider all the people on the wiki - there are going to be a lot of them who are going to net one very quickly while going for Pearl.
Unfortunately, the flipside is true, and there will also be people complaining on the wiki in 6 months time that they still haven't gotten one despite breeding for it non-stop since release....
Considering I've only had 2 Rainbows the entire time I've been playing, and the last was over a year ago, I'm thinking I might be one of them haha

First thing ... It's 0.3% in the first round of breeding. And overall it's 0.94% So perhaps the DR (going to call it Doctor from now on) has the same 1% as Rainbow and you were just on the wrong side of the bell curve originally.
For your statistics: having had enough of fails with "normal dragons", i tried pairing my doubleR with Rainbow. Third try: YEAH doubleR!!!! Everything is now clogged with a previous rainbow fail (plus the newest 2 rainbow fails) so I will let everything breed and incubate normally.

Yes, the .3% error has already been pointed out - thank you.
You will also note - there were 2 of us on the wrong side of the bell curve. Considering the small amount of testing that has been done with this dragon so far, that seems significant to me.
Not really sure. The only other rainbow that I can think of is a Fire Rainbow, probably the rarest one there is. There are usually created from hexagonal ice crystals afloat in high-level cirrus clouds, AND sunlight has to hit it at one specific angle (46) to reveal it.
What limiteds are we expecting to return soon? I'm at a point where I can stop and breathe, I have my pair of butterflies, a jade, and a pearl. I am thinking about breeding for opposites, but I'd rather prioritize a hybrid I might need shortly.
Dragons to breed: Clover, Sakura, Diamond, Peridot, SOly, GOly, Bronze and Silver SnOlys, DR, Malachite, and four light and dark hybrids.

Solstice should be up next, unless they release something new.

I love you. The rainbow fail I'm breeding, I think it might get renamed Bloodstone, because you're epic. I'd looked at that weeks ago and couldn't recall where I found it. Now it is properly bookmarked for future reference.

Hi Viviane! You got one? Sweet! I'm having a heck of a time, but not complaining too much...no Rainbow fails...yet! ;0)
Hugs, Jack
Jack, i have been very lucky to get one on fifth try. Am now breeding my second having paired a rainbow with the new doubleR. Was tired of failures. Got the second one after 2 rainbows. Thought i take the risk and it paid. Hugs too, and best of luck in your quest.

Well if you don't edit your post, you will find people telling you the same thing.
And sure it seems significant. But Maidy got one on try 13 with Snow and Seaweed. Viviane got one on try 5 with Firefly + Seaweed. That would indicate it's really easy to get with regular dragons. And 4 in 664 takes you up to 0.6% When you're dealing with very small percentages you need a big sample size.
