Any suggestions for good money making breeding (Other than Wisp-Wisp. I can't check in every 2 hours!) Something with a 6-8 hr avg breed time would be excellent. I'm okay with up to 24h though.
I left Iceberg and Light in one of mine as a placeholder until a new dragon came along and it is fairly productive in the time frame your looking at. Koala to all

I remember someone mentioning that breeding Wisps will still net you a lot of DC even if you don't check in that often. Each sells for 5M DC, which could possibly be the highest amount you'll get for a hybrid.

I know you said you can't check in every 2 hours... but you don't have to.
Wisp + Wisp is still your best option. It makes 5,000,000 DC in 4 hours*. This is 1,250,000 / hour. But even if you let it sit there untended for a whole day, it still earns you more per hour than any other dragon I can think of.
Anything else that earns more than 5 million DC is an epic dragon that takes WAY, WAY, WAY longer to breed and/or has wild fails.
The down side is that Wisp + Wisp (2h) has inconsistent fail times with Spark (9h30m) and Wraith (14h).
But both of those fails still make pretty decent DC overall. Spark earns 115,790 / hour. Wraith earns 117,857 per hour.
That said, Fungus + Fungus (13h) is very consistent and is a good earner. The only possible fail is Nightshade (13h 30m). So regardless of what you get, there's only a few minutes variance in when you have to check.
Fungus makes 121,154 per hour. So it's better than Spark or Writh
Nightshade makes 116,667 per hour. So worse than Wraith, but better than Spark.
But Wisp is dramatically better than anything.
If you get a Fungus egg, it takes 26 hours total before you see your DC 3,150,000 DC, which is approximately 121,154 DC per hour.
If you get a Wisp egg, it's completely done in four hours. For whatever reason, you you let it sit there for a total of 26 hours before you hatch it and get your 5,000,000 DC. It effectively earns about 192,307 DC per hour.
So even ignoring a wisp egg for a full day it still turns out to be a better earner than Fungus...
* I'm ignoring the upgraded breeding times to make the math a little easier

Delerome, that first response is pretty much automated, because Kyle wants to cover as much as he can in one message. Basically if he sends that email to anyone having connection problems, in most cases (unfortunately not yours though), they will be able to fix it!
I fourth the message to BFS, spread the word guys. Let's get Delerome back online ASAP!

No longer active on DragonVale! *briefly back online*
Please forgive me if this has been addressed already. Doing some rearranging in my park and noticed that the winter shrine, the rosefall oak, and the egg of burcadia all have the same symbol, which is different than any other symbol (I could have missed some) we have. What is this symbol?

That would the "Celebration" category. They use that symbol for event type decorations and is a category in the Dragonarium for certain dragons.

Thank you. I certainly hadn't thought it could be so much better that it would be best even if I couldn't get on often to exchange it around!

I am currently running 4 Wisps in my park for breeding for cash, my longest run so far is 5 straight Wisps from the Island in a row. It makes for a very cash productive day
Wisps also garner 1.1MXp on hatching/selling, rather that ~450k XP from the others mentioned, so it helps slightly more with the levelling up too.
Does anyone know if buying a dragon and hatching it will clear its breeding hint?
I'm still aiming for 2 of every gem dragon and would like to unlock every breeding hint, but with the long lapis fails and the sale I'm debating just buying it.

I believe breeding hints are unlocked when you have two of the dragon in your park. It's probably easier to just pay for the hint as well.

During the winter event someone found a "hack" that once the egg goes from the breeding site to the nursery the hint unlocks--so players could see if they got their second third or fourth snowflake.
Buying the hint would definitely be easier, but I'll wait till an event to do that if I decide to do that
What is the purpose of the hints anyways? I am not sure why you would want to buy it with gems. Its just a feature I wish I could turn off - that and trophies.

To give you an in-game way to find the breeding combination for any dragon.
Before they gave hints, people would struggle mightily when a new dragon came out to find the combination. There was one quarterly gem dragon near the end (before hints came out) that took... 2 weeks? Maybe 3? to find the combination. a LONG TIME.

Ah yes, back in the good ole days when we had to figure out the combo! I remember the first of the month was always a crazy time, everyone trying to guess gemstone breeding combos, and those few testers breeding hundreds of dragons. These were the days before the retry button.

I don't necessarily want to buy it with gems, but I've completed my dragon and pedestal collections so my next own objective is to clear the goals and unlock all the hints to "complete" the game until the next dragon is released.

In those days the wiki's external forum was a busy place. There was no time for sitting in a rocking chair in those days. Things are much quieter over there now. In fact, when I get tired of reading and cooking in the billionaire's club, I like to go over there and sit on the porch in my comfy rocking chair with a plate of zazzberry tarts and a glass of dragonade, and I relax while I rock back and forth and enjoy the quiet, the view, and reminiscing with old friends. I sometimes miss the hustle and bustle, but I guess I'm getting too old for it anyway.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

I recalled that wapatango discovered the combo for Jade, right? I was the late comer and basically playing catchup with the existing dragons. Sandbox was/is my go to at the time. Didn't really pay much attention to anything else, and DV Comm wasn't part of me then. When I joined the Comm several months later, I relied on BS's Breeding Guide.
So, back then, when BFS introduced a new dragon players got to figure the breeding combo(s) on their own. Or gemstones were the only one that breeding combos weren't available to players. How did it all start?

It started out without anyone knowing any breeding pairs. There was a lot of angst working out even basic combinations. It truly was a time of "try all sorts of combinations. You never know what you might get". I remember the shock and disbelief the first time someone bred an opposite dragon. We didn't even know it was possible. Also new dragons were released without any fanfare. And sometimes they were even breedable before they hit the market. Also no one knew if level mattered. Or which dragon was on the left. Add that to the rumours of the invisible dragon and it was a jungle out there i tell you. A jungle.
