To give a wholly different point of view, I'm annoyed with the twins weekend. I'm annoyed with twins in general.
Since time began, I've always collected two of each dragon. One to level to max, and another to level to 10 and then make it a baby. I have no desire to collect a third of every dragon. The occasional golden portraits in my Dragonarium just make everything look more jumbled and disorganized. The eggs look different too, but I'm not an egg collector, else I'd be annoyed by that too.
I'm throwing all my twins in the cave for now. Not feeding them, not naming them, just hoping BFS adds some kind of new functionality to twins otherwise I'll just sell them eventually.
Basically - twins are absolutely pointless and a shallow way to extend replay value.
...
That said, I love that BFS is attempting to keep things fresh. Quick sales and special events like this can be a lot of fun.

Yeah, I've sold many of the twins I've received... I haven't always collected two of each dragon, however. And my twin Snowy Gold pedestal looks weird with the rest (should have hatched that one, but I already had 2 of them).
So, for me, a meh weekend.... oh well.

This is understandable if coming from endgame players. But I don't agree with the statement that twins are pointless, unless you already have multiples of every dragon in the game, and are not collecting twins (which appears to be the case with you). The vast majority of players benefit from the chance to receive a twin though. I've gotten twin epics and twin gemstone dragons when I had not yet been able to breed them myself. Now that we can switch off those annoying globes above the dragons' heads, and now that we can delete twins from the gifts menu if we don't want them, I think they are a good thing for the game.
I agree with you about the twin eggs - I don't care for the look, either. The blue ring around them detracts from the look IMO, and they just don't look right when sitting with other eggs. I wouldn't mind if they would do away with the current look of twin eggs, and make them look like regular eggs (or let us switch the hazy blue ring off, like we can switch off the globes above their heads).
A twin event. Yay. I don't think thank goodness my coop is tied up,with a looong breeding. Maybe I'll go blue heart a mud.

I'm working on those hard to breed rare opposite twins... Current, Shadow, Mirage, Frostfire, Bluefire etc.... hoping to almost complete my twin pedestals this weekend (at least all those opposites, with the help of a few gems). That is of course if I manage to breed them in between devices crashing... both my updated iPhone 6 plus and non-updated iPad 2 keep crashing, very frustrating!

Heh, sorry about this, but you do have a 14 hour twin inbound in whichever park you're sharing the Darkling (I'll probably speed it up with gems after I've burned off an hour or three). Probably a Wraith... but hey! maybe a Darkling!
(I'm changing up who I breed with so as not to flood anybody while trying to get a glitched Darkling twin pedestal)
EDIT: Anybody looking for a Darkling twin should feel free to spam me with twin attempts!

I'll be working on these if I get twin opal and Amber. Like + Like is the best chance, so reques some of those opposites get shared to help speed through them whilst the going is good.

This. I personally, like the twin mechanic; it essentially gives you a way to give/get free dragons without making the game too easy. Instead of just the chance you get it yourself there's an additional slight chance you'll get it as a twin. And now that you can delete them, it's not a bother if you don't want one.
That said, while I like the mechanic of a breeding producing twins, I'm not the keenest on the graphic differentiation of twins. I've never liked orbs, and actually like the twin orbs less so all my twins have been in hibernation until this last update. The gold border is meh, and sometimes I feel the bright blue background makes it hard to appreciate the dragon when viewing in the Dragonarium. Perhaps something more subtle?
IMO, I don't think 100% twin completion is meant by BF to be a major game goal since it's not in goals and doesn't affect Dragonarium sparkle status but as an aside little bit of content to add specialness to a dragon (I just got this rare dragon and it's a twin too!) and to provide optional goals for those that would like. I don't know if that made any sense?
I randomly send gems/treats if I have any leftover. No obligation to return anything.

It makes perfect sense, and I agree with it all. The orb was obviously the easiest way for them to make the distinction as it was a system already in place allowing them to "double" the number of dragons without needing to double the size of the code, which would have been unwieldy. But surely there was a better way of differentiating them. They added an effect to the twin eggs, so surely something similar could have been done to the dragons. Something subtler than that, but some kind of colouring change via altering brightness/contrast/hue/saturation.
I'm leaving all my twins as level 1 babies so to maximise the fact that they are small with orbs. So I am left with having to leave the orbs turned on, because otherwise you can't tell the are twins. It's an upsetting situation to be in.

Totally agree with you. I wasn't complaining about the mechanic of occasionally getting a free dragon from using the CBC, I was mostly just talking about the graphical differences that make twins different from other dragons.
I am thrilled that we can disable orbs now - it'd be awesome if we could disable the gold borders and blue eggs of twins!
