Hi skinny looks like you are finding your way around nicely. Good for you. My GCID is Debstoy, original eh? Feel free to poke around my park and I don't mind if you poke a dragon or two they seem to be getting a bit on the lazy side. Only one Pepper and no ourothingamabobby. I am not much of a designer I just put things where they fit but that can be a form of art in itself. Lol. The eggs were fail eggs I kept and didn't have the heart to sell them off.
I like what I have seen so far. very Impressive parks to Fletch (I like your moon/cold island) and that you have dragons that I don't have yet, Merridrache, very well organized. and Lion, Lion! we have similar design styles. I am enjoying this park especially, very Impressive! I can see you have put a lot of effort into your park, just as I have. Great work to everyone's park I have seen so far. C'mon everyone post your GCID!

Thanks largely to the tips from all of you and other sites, I think I've made a good start. Today I was able to add the EBI and gemstone island. With plenty of time on my hands I can visit my park often to collect DC, breed and sell, grow treats. My dragons are pretty basic but are all at Level 8. My park is not pretty. I know that I will enjoy the decorating aspect but I think I made the right choice by spending cash only on upgrades and food. In 2 hours I will have a chrome dragon and can make a last ditch effort to get a ruby dragon. I also just hatched an iron dragon so I can use him for breeeding/selling. By this time next week I should have my 4th island and might start paving and putting up a few banners. Thank goodness for this community!

The good thing about metals is that they are worth a lot in resale. Rather than cactus, you can ow breed Magnetics, 4 hours, and sell for over a million DC. You will soon be rolling in cash, especially now that you have two breeding caves. Breed for dragons in the island, and use the cave for breeding Magnetics for cash.

There are other options too. Iron works out the same as magnetic. Rust takes a little longer at 6 hours, but returns more at 1,650,000. Which is better depends on how often you check your park. I found Rust and water a great combo as it either gives rust which you sell after six hours, or a Platinum, which is one of the harder dragons to get.

susiespieler- Hi. Glad to help you out on how to generate cash quickly and now you seem like your on your way to have a nice park! Fletch and Greg are right about breeding magnetics and/or rust dragons, they are worth a ton of DC and Experience! I wanna add you as a friend, is that ok? debstoy-Love the name! And Brick, I will add you both right now.
Been a long time since I posted...summer's been crazy so far. I started last August, and have now come full circle. I'm going to attempt to get a 2nd August gem dragon, since I wasn't able to last year.
Looking back over the last year, I play a little different as well. You see I don't have an iPhone. I started this game on my must have a hot spot iPad, that doesn't have it's own sim card. So I play in the evenings and occasionally pick up coins in the am before work. Weekends I get a bit more time but that's about it. I can't remember how I stumbled across the game I think I was just searching dragon on the app center, why I was doing that I can't remember.
I tend to research things, so hit upon this community shortly after I started. This community has been a huge boon, and I get many a laugh and aid when reading. The longer I've played the more I've prioritized. I want a collection of limited eggs, so my priority has gone to getting two of each breedable limited, then putting them aside for an egg for later unless I have time and no other dragons at that time I'm in need of. Gem dragon wise the order is dragon, egg, and attempt for second dragon (so I can have a baby form). Now if I can use another dragon to make more of the limited after time expires (ie like the seasonal dragons) if I need more work on another limited I'll make a note to continue hunting dragon #2 later.
Since starting I've also managed to drag a friend and her flatmate into the game...one plays on iPhone the other on Android. I'm playing my DV under my Game Center ID and was able to log FB at the same time so can play w/both of them and trade gems to both. I think they both might still be swearing at me for "hooking them on this addiction."
On the other hand it's nice to have "real-life" friends to play this with as well. While they haven't joined the forum I did hook them up to the sandbox and pass useful information from here too.
I'm still slowly plugging along with my personal goals in game...I have (I think) three more silver shines to go gold. One I only need one more dragon...unfortunately I've run out of that one (even out of hybrids and no more in my HC). I'm waiting for a breather to look and breed one more to make that gold. Then I'll concentrate on my next shrine, as I've been doing them one at a time.
I will confess to using gems, but I have rules on their use...especially if I end up buying some.
Rule #1. Gems can only be used to speed up limited breedings.
Rule #2 (started w/gem dragons) Gems can only be used when there are only two weeks before the limited dragon disappears (this encompasses all limited dragons now - so I'm very much in love with the last call post which I check regularly).
Rule #3. If there are left over gems you MUST allow them to roll over to the next limited dragon's last two weeks.
Rule #4. If you have depleted all gems and have 2 weeks and less to go you may buy somemore but you can only spend X amount. If you cannot get the dragon w/in those rules w/o going over the money limit...too bad so sad wait till next year.
I have also gotten in the habit of having at least two less habitats than my maximum allowance. Why? because at some point they might come out with YET another dragon that needs a new habitat and I hate selling old ones. I was able to add an additional treasure habitat w/o having to put one of my three old treasure dragons away. I would like to at some point have one of each style of dragon on display with a 2nd in the HC for breeding purposes or because I prefer the look of the baby version vice adult.
I'm scared to see how long this is so I'll stop here.

Is your storage tower full? I keep my old habitats in there.

I haven't expanded my tower yet, so it already has max things in it. I'll have to look at it again and see if I can rearrange things.

I am pretty much brand new--been playing for a week. am level 11 (half way to 12) and simce level 3 have had only 2 gems. i hate that all these app games have no instrucyions and assume u understand the strategy! I never would have used a single gem to speed anything up if i had known how difficult it is to get more! I have no intention of spending any real cash to get gems although if i dont see gems out of my coliseum soon i may cave . i cannot even upgrade my incubator yet. so i am vervently breeding in hopes i can breed a gem or two as well. There is no whete online yhat i have found that helps newbies explaining the jest of DV. finally it is reallu crappy programming that youvannot reset and start over IMHO!

Gems can be kinda scase in the early levels, but they come pretty easy later on once you have made some freinds, level up your colosseum competitors and get some gem dragons on your island.
Which platfrom are you playing on? iOS? Android?
Also, you should be able to get an easy 10 gems by following the instructions here:

OH Thank You! That got me the ten gems i needed to upgrade my incubator! horray! so now i need a while lotta cash! which is more important-- getting a sun or moon habitat and dragon OR another island (i still have some room)... OR should i comcentrate on a rainbow dragon? and which is more important--feeding dragons to upgrade their level or getting more dragons? really appreciate the help!
First off, there's really no one right way to play the game, so what you feel is more important may not line up with what others value.
Epic dragons, like the Sun, Moon and Rainbow are rather rare, so I wouldn't necessairly "concentrate" on getting any of them early on. If you luck out and get one, that's awesome, but it can take months before you ever see one. The Rainbow, Sun and Moon habitats don't take that long to build compared to how long those dragons take to hatch, so I wouldn't waste money on buying them until you know you have something to put in them.
I'd personally only get another island once you actually need the space, but they take 12+ hours to summon, so don't wait til the last minute either
I like the collection aspect of the game most of all, so I like to make sure I have all the dragons I need to breed the limited dragons that show up from time to time.
You can check out this thread to get an idea of what might be coming up and the dragon you may need, but the wizards are always surprising us with new things:
When I started off, I focused on getting all my dragon to at least level 4 so that they could be used to breed more hybrid and limited dragons. It was only once I wanted to work on my shrines that I started really worrying about getting everything up to level. Prior to that, a lot of my dragons sat between level 4 and 7.

Howdy, Reiki,
So, my advice, would be to: 1. Focus on filling the right habitats with profitable dragons. - Be mindful to put higher-earning hybrid dragons in a habitat with a high cap. It's not easy at the start, because most earth dragons and hybrids are low earning. But I seem to remember that the Quake dragon is a good one to have several of. 2. Focus on feeding dragons that are in habitats with a higher cap. Don't bother feeding up plant dragons to level 10, even though plant dragons make great cash. The ROI is just too low. 3. Don' t bother building a Sun/Moon/Rainbow habitat until you have a dragon to put in there. If you DO have a dragon to put in there, then yes, build the corresponding habitat and feed the dragon to level ten pronto.
Otherwise, just play the game, doing things to level up. By leveling up, you can build more habitats, display more dragons, and consequently earn more cash.
4. Don't buy an island until: a. You have no more place to put habitats. b. You have more money than you know what to do with. If neither of the above are true, then there's no need.
But this is just my advice. If you do the exact opposite of what I've proposed, you will still get to level 45 one day and have more cash than you know what to do with. Have fun :) The rest will work itself out.

Hi! I'm making good progress--bred several hybrids and just made level 13. Question: what are thes "boosts" for the various elements? do i. need to save up for them or just wait until I am rolling in dough? . Also, is it wise to bring all dragons up to at least level 10? and is there compelling reason to have more than one of each type of dragon? thanks bunches!
