The idea of this thread is for forum members to post information about themselves so we can get to know each other a little better. Tell us a little more about yourself - don't be shy!

Forty ... three. Had to think about that. Just had my birthday in March, but I don't pay particular attention. Married to my best friend since I was 19, so well over half my life. 4 great kids, 21, 18, 8 & 5 although all of them will have birthdays later in the year to make them older than that. 21 year old daughter is getting married in July. Recently made redundant from my job, and currently working with my wife from home to see if we can make it a viable business to support a household of 7 (eldest daughters fiance currently lives with us while they both finish their last year of University). Bought up as a Christian for almost all my life, but became a born again atheist a couple of years ago. Think I'm going to make another thread about that which I hope will generate some interesting discussion. Like Sci-Fi and fantasy (duh) and Football (Soccer).
30 years old. I live in Denver, CO but I'm going to be moving to Indiana for work in July. I'm an anesthesiologist and I practice mostly in pain procedures... Epidurals, nerve blocks, etc. STILL single (all that school and moving around for training really puts a damper on the social life). My main hobby is riding and showing horses competitively. I have four horses (used to have five but two months ago my favorite broke his leg in the paddock and I had to put him down... Terribly sad) and two little doggies I let sleep in the bed with me. Yes, I'm one of those crazy animal people.
Hello everyone, I am a DV addict. I met my husband 23 years ago. I lived in San Francisco, he lived in Los Angeles. He was one of my advertisers who spoke to me on the phone daily for 6 months, never met face-to-face until he came up to watch his favorite baseball team the Giants. . .and the rest is history. I too am married to my best friend. We have one son who is starting college this fall at UC Berkeley. I was volunteering at a non- profit for many years 15+ and two years ago I asked a staff member "how did you get your job here" and got a job in their volunteer service dept. I would like to transfer to development to assist in raising funds for the organization, as my background is new business development. The agency name is Project Angel Food and we provide and deliver free nutritious meals to serious ill clients who are homebound. On average is 1300 meals a day. With that said, it has been the best career move. I have two dogs, and the big baby in the avatar is Oscar Boxer and Daisy the Dalmatian not photo.
Hey. Hay. I'm 53 going on 27. WASP. Born and raised in the Great White North. No kids, just animals. 2 domestic short haired cats named Morgan and Guinness. 2 pug dogs named Marty and Moose. Pictures I promise. And 3 horses, (was 4 till last week I sold one of my mares to a nice family) ergo the "hay". 2 of my horses are semi retired, Ofeigur, the Icelandic horse is 29 ('Ofeigur' in Icelandic means 'he who was meant to live' or 'survivor'.) And Oreo my big paint Clyde cross. My other mare is in a training facility where I'm getting a once in a lifetime chance to train with a member of the Canadian equestrian team. Husband just bought a sailboat after years and years away from sailing and he is looking keenly into the wind everyday till launch day. Which should be May. My dogs sleep under my covers. I work for the government but don't hold it against me. I have NO sense of humour.

OK, here goes....
I'm John Audette, more commonly called Poppy these days as I have six grandchildren six years old and younger who all live within walking distance. I'm 67 years old (!) and doing a very poor job of growing old gracefully - I fight it every step of the way. I've been married to my soul-mate and best friend Victoria (Vicki) for 44 years. Our marriage has been so idyllic that I won't even get started because people tend to get nauseous. The same thing happens when I go on about my grandkids so I usually describe them as homely, short and a little slow.
My wife and I both had sub-par childhoods and we dedicated ourselves to making the next generation better. On the night of our marriage I looked at her and said "This s*** ends with us". And it has. Our older son is president of U.S. operations of a biotech firm based in the UK. Our younger son is president of one of the top search marketing firms in the U.S. More importantly, they are outstanding husbands and fathers. When you get to be my age you have a tendency to audit your life. My scorecard has always been my two sons and I have to admit I'm pretty happy with my life's work. There are times I look at my wife and say "Good job, Vicki" and she looks back at me and says "Good job, John".
I had five different majors in college (Journalism -> English Literature -> Creative Writing -> Marine Biology -> Biochemistry), accumulated 300 units, needed 180 to graduate and never did as I didn't meet distribution requirements. I now believe that, in addition to not having any parental direction, that I have probably always had ADD.
My first career job was as a retail stockbroker, branch manager and analyst for a NYSE member firm. I did that for 15 years, then moved on after becoming enamored with computers. That led to owning two computer stores, which I sold when the department store in one of the shopping centers started selling them. It was becoming increasingly difficult to add value, and I was bored anyway.
Next I worked as a systems consultant in the client/server era. I was in sales, but I read several hours every night and was pretty knowledgeable. So I ended up partnering with most of the more pure sales folks as a kind of translator, which made me very popular with the engineers as we didn't go out and sell a bill of goods that was impossible to implement. I worked a year on a $22M contract with Freightliner as they were automating their many dealerships across the nation. On the day the contract was signed (the company I was working for had annual revenues of $20M at the time) the president of the company fired me and took over my sales slot, paying himself the considerable commissions. He of course got sued. With the proceeds I moved on to Internet marketing.
My time as a systems consultant demonstrated how powerful the single protocol (TCP/IP) of the Internet was and I sensed that it represented revolutionary change as opposed to evolutionary change. Plus, as it changed hourly, it was a perfect environment for us ADDs, and I've been here ever since.
I founded Multimedia Marketing Group (MMG) in 1995. I started out building websites, then looked around and could see that the Internet was going to become a gold rush. So, rather than be a prospector myself, I followed the Levi model and provided services to the prospectors. My main marketing tool with MMG was the I-Sales Discussion List which I moderated and published every day for seven years. With 25,000 subscribers it became a definitive online resource. Advertisers paid to advertise there which made my main marketing endeavor a profit center, which was nice. MMG was a search engine optimization (SEO) pioneer (I actually coined the term SEO). I sold MMG to London based Outrider in 2000.
I also founded one of the first online press release distribution services called the Internet News Bureau. We distributed press releases to 10,000+ subscribing journalists. I sold it to what was called internet.com at the time, now Mecklermedia I think.
I was a co-founder, along with my son Adam, of AudetteMedia, a SEO boutique. We moved steadily upmarket to working with Fortune 500 firms. AudetteMedia was sold to RKG, a paid search firm, last year, a perfect fit.
My latest endeavor is 406 Strategies, which provides Internet marketing services to local and small businesses. This business is facing the strongest headwinds of anything I have ever done, most likely due to the fact that localization of the Internet is early and there's a lot of education involved in the sales cycle. Plus, of course, the economy has been challenging in the U.S for a while.
If you're not nauseous yet, you will find more information about my Internet endeavors at the following links:
A very interesting life! And now you have started up in social networking. Emm please dont sell the forum to facebook or else lol. I have done a bit of searching on your name on the web and, if not confusing with somebody else having the same name as yours, i also discovered you are involved in IANDS, near-death studies. I have read Life after Life, frm Dr. Raymond Moody and works frm E. Kuebler-Ross and these books were a great help when i lost my soul mate in 1979. These and other books like the Tibetanian books of death (don t know the title in english).
My dogs sleep under my covers. I work for the government but don't hold it against me. I have NO sense of humour.
I think you're telling an untruth there, Victoria - anyone who a) has pugs; b) lets them sleep under the covers and c) can say "don't hold it against me." about their job (sounds pretty tongue-in-cheek to me!) certainly *does* have a sense of humor in my book ;D
I'm going to be 40 in less than a month...but feel like I'm 23 although my joints would beg to differ most days (let's just say my childhood was very much less than ideal, I got 'flying lessons' down a flight of stairs several times plus been hit by cars twice while bike riding).
I work as a Certified Peer Support for people with mental illness~a perfect job for me, as having a mental illness was *required* for the job followed by good people skills and having stability in mental health. I love my job as my goal in life is to help people be the best they can be, no matter what society says about them. The job devours a lot of my time...I meet with people on a regular basis, but it's not unusual to get calls all hours of the day & night from them. Some of them, I'm the closest thing they have to a friend ( which is heart breaking to me, everyone needs at least one good friend!)
In my free time (free time?) I work for a ministry taking care of emails, and am involved with children's ministry, teen ministry, and a food and clothing outreach at my church...make jewelry...fix computers...working on writing a book...oh yeah~playing DV, a few other iPad games, hanging at this forum...all while trying to get a bit of sleep and militantly watching everything I eat to keep from landing in the hospital due to several food allergies, peanuts being the worse. I just found out last night the hard way that Papa Murphy's Pizza ( a take and bake place) is contaminated with peanut. *itch itch wheeeeeze*

Here goes. I did an intro on the other forum, but then you all got banned and didn't see it. Lol. I'm Tracey and I'm just about to turn 41 eek. I live on the sunshine coast of Queensland, Australia. It's pretty much paradise. I've been married to my hubby for 10 years and we have two boys who are 6 and 2, and a very naughty border collie Scrabbles. I'm currently a SAHM and enjoy caring for my family, I'm studying bookkeeping to upgrade my skills and hopefully open a home based bookkeeping business next year when my little bloke goes to kindy. My husband and I had a pretty serious World of Warcraft addiction going for about 6 years which we gave up 16 months ago. DV is like a breath of fresh air to play after that, I enjoy it so much. I've been on several of these thread based forums over the last 12 years or so (being a keen needle worker) and know you are all going to love it. Trace xxx
WOW addict - Keeping it casual. GCID - jamiemerrick
My turn...I'm Brandy...I'm a military wife and a mother to 5 loud wonderful beautiful kiddos. I like to think of myself as a survivor. I survived a horrific childhood, a car crash that broke my back, cancer, losing children, deployments...you name it I've survived it. Before my husband and children I worked at a well known children's cancer hospital. I'm a nurturer. I'm sure that's a result of the lack of it I had growing up. My greatest joys and accomplishments are my children. I want to raise kind, loving, caring little people who have a wonderful relationship with the lord.
On a side note, I love to bake and can make all those fancy schmancy cakes you see on those baking shows. I also love music, to read and garden.....
My dogs sleep under my covers. I work for the government but don't hold it against me. I have NO sense of humour.
