My Tourmaline Dragon Egg has finally gone off to its new owner, it's my granddaughter's birthday present! Wonder if I should try an Amethyst Egg for next year? The ceramic pedestal that I had was the wrong proportion, so I had to get out the Polymer clay, formed over a mushroom-shaped cork.

That's awesome! I love how you made the base for it. Your granddaughter should be delighted.

Wow, what a beautiful present; such skill!!!! What size is it Womantrarae, hard to tell from the pic...
Thanks to everyone for your comments! Way back in this topic is more info about making "dragon eggs" with 200 thumbtacks, nail polish and a chicken-egg-sized styrofoam egg.

In elementary school, we are taught that little boys pick on little girls because they love to watch their reactions, so if a little girl wants to be left alone, she needs to fail to react to anything the little boys do. I decided to try this same policy on a big boy who will remain nameless. Those of you who have been around the forum for a long time won’t have any trouble figuring out to whom I am referring. However, some of you haven’t been here as long, so I will give you a few hints. He is on staff, looks like a pile of bones, and his initials are GD. Watch out for him. He is dangerous! He and his team of wizards have been barraging my park nonstop with their nasty spells. My wizards and I have been working nonstop for months trying to prevent and undo all the nasty “tricks” he has played on my park. Here are only a few examples of the terrible things he has done: shut down all entrance portals with no warning multiple times so that my park goes into unexpected lockdown, rerouted some dragons, like the needed eridanian, away from my park, and rerouted other dragons, like endless bronze and Olympus dragons, towards my park, stolen almost all the lights from my park so that I was forced to return to daylight instead of the beautiful night sky so that my visitors could see, put a spell on all my island themes so that using them causes my park to go into repeated lockdown, sent poisoned treats, and gems wrapped in layers of harmful spells instead of koala leaves, and the list goes on. After dealing with his evil plots for months, or has it been years, I cannot take it anymore. My wizards recently came to me demanding a break. They are worn out from the 24-7-365 work schedule that we have had to keep in an effort to keep our park afloat. Therefore, with sadness, we are closing down our park until the end of March. There is a slight possibility that the month off might be enough to refresh us for the challenge, but I don’t believe a month will do it. I believe that the evil schemes of a certain mod have finally won out, and the LIKYLIND dragon park, and all associated parks, will be shutting down for good. Although I have decided to leave, I am not leaving quietly. My wizards and I have prepared one last big bang for GD’s park, and the results of this spell should keep him busy and unhappy for a long time to come. Perhaps it will even manage to drive him away.
Now, for some good news to cheer you up, for quite a long time there was a discussion about crowning dragons, and maximizing earnings, and how at the rate BFS released new dragons, we could never crown them all. I never tried to maximize earnings, much preferring to display one of every dragon and multiples of the ones I like. However, this past week, I finished crowning the remaining 56 hybrid dragons in my park. All 158 possible dragons are crowned, and when my remaining roses are converted into treats, I should have enough to elder my pure elements, although I won’t be able to do it because of the nasty spell my wizards and I detected on the shrines. I leave with 4 billion in the bank, 1500 gems, and over 100 million treats. My only regret is that I was unable to obtain an eridanian before closing down my park due to the malevolence of a certain mod. I have enjoyed my time with all of you. I will miss you, and I want to warn you to be careful. Now that a certain dragon-eating mod has succeeded in driving me away, I fear that he will set his sights on others. Be vigilant. Be diligent. Beware!

After playing for over 3 years, it is time to close down my park and walk away. I have enjoyed my time here on the forum and all the wonderful people I have met, and it is with sadness that I say goodbye. I leave the game with a sparkling dragonarium, although I am missing many seconds and eggs. Thank you all for making this past 3 years so special. May you all have great success in breeding all the dragons that are to come.

Ladies, you will both be missed, terribly. A reminder that just because you don't play, does not mean you have to avoid us here. We love to chat and will always be available to hear what you have been up to, out in the real world. And if you ever decide to revisit your dragons upgrade your iDevice, then you know where we are. Probably hip deep in DV World by that time.
Doug, are you sticking around, or is the whole family making an exodus? 40 years is a long time to be wandering the desert?
Lots of love to the whole family. You are special people. Fletch oxo

Thank you for being here, rulilind. I am just so grateful to meeting you and Liane in DV Community. You have always been so encouraging and supportive with your posts whenever members got discourage or frustrated at breeding certain dragons. Believe it or not, every time I read a discontent post, I automatically thought of you. I have learn to expect an encouraging reply post from you. I am usually right. I smile, and thought, "Gosh, she has done it again."
Thank you for you have made me a better person.
I am looking forward your return in April. If you decide not to...you shall be missed greatly.
Best wishes, always. Xx
Some friends touch your heart in a way that you can never erase.

PS GD smells funny.
Yep, I told them that when they quit, I'll quit. I did hit a couple of goals spread out between my two main parks. On my tablet I hit 1 billion treats (I was actually going for 2 billion but this is good enough) and on my Galaxy S4 park, I have a fiery Dragonarium and every pedestal. I actually was going to quit a couple of months ago but managed to keep my gem cache that I lucked into by selling the Gloaming Stone. BFS never stole back my gems because I sort of flew under the radar. I used the gems to breed and get everything I didn't have. Spent 35,000 gems doing it but I figured I'd get the dragons the honest way and breed for everything, not just buy them. So I got the last laugh on BFS on that one but now I've had it with the slowness and the events and the difficulty of breeding dragons so I'm gone too. I'm going to uninstall DV and not look back. Spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on the game and it's just not fun anymore. I think the BFS people have given in to pressure from Hasbro corporate to make more money. I've had my issues with the BFS guys but I do think it's been the Hasbro influence that's ruined the game, not the original BFS'ers. They had a good idea and it WAS a good game. But I think they've choked the golden goose to death. DV had become almost a way of life. Hard to give up the parks I've worked so hard to build up but ... I think everyone knows what I mean, n'est–ce pas?
It is always sad to see members leave, but sometimes (and more often than not) life demands other things and that means re-arranging one's priorities. I know I am not the most outspoken person here in this community, but still I feel the need to say goodbye from the 'fringe'. Your departure will not go unnoticed.
Arriverderci, adieu, au revoir, see ya, auf wiedersehen, fair thee well, adjö, etc etc. ;-)
wapatango, rulilind, and dougclind - what can I say? I have enjoyed all of the chats and fun we've had here. I will miss you all, and hope our paths cross again one day My sincere and heartfelt best wishes to you all! Whatever paths you take, I hope you all enjoy life to the fullest

Well well well. Greg Darcy has finally gone too far. I can only hope that he is plagued by eternal guilt on this one. His cunning and evil schemes are malicious and he is like the Bellatrix Lestrange of the dragonvale world - terrifying, mad and dead.
He has been so horrifically bad that he has driven away three of the kindest members of our community which we will all so love. Their kindly nature contrasts starkly with his bullish one; and thoughtful and helpful comments make them better suited to power than GD, the mod, himself. *insert dumbledore quote here*. These wonderful members have provided others with marvellous hours of entertainment, helpful guidance and friendship which will never be forgotten. Their mark on our community will be eternal, whether or not the evil overlord has driven them away. We hope that they can brave coming back from time to time (when the bully isn't there) and visit to say hello, as we will all miss them greatly (yes even our resident Aussie meanie). Remember, everything you have contributed has made us laugh, cry and has brightened our day, even when we thought nothing could brighten our day. For that we thank you, and for that we embrace you into the community forever more as VIDC's - Very Important Dragon Collectors.
Bye, and it was lovely having you here <3 hugs and kisses
jamesvaler
P.s I love our "evil" overlord Greg really, this whole "I hate Greg" thing is a joke, please don't take it the wrong way. Some bullies are actually soft on the inside.

What a sad day in DragonVale. You all will be greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts as true legends. Change is inevitable, but hard. I am not eloquent, but please accept my heartfelt thanks for all you did for & brought to this forum. I truly hope you will check in once in a while and let us know how you are & what you've been doing. I'm waving a sad goodbye.....

Weeping dragons in the parks of wapatango, rulilind and dougclind today. Am sure even the infamous bag of bones is feeling loss. So many good times, so many laughs, so much helpful information, so many memories associated with these three. Thank you for being here with us for such a long time. We will miss you dearly. Am hanging on to a small hope you will all be back, buts sounds like dougclind is pretty resolute to leave it all behind. Would love it if you would stop by and say hi once in awhile, you would be most welcome. Bye......for now. Pixie

Fabulous pedestal!
Easter is nearing and am thinking it is time to make a few more to hide among the real eggs as special prizes.

I have to admit to checking in on the forum some. Kydolind is still playing DV on my ipad air, so I can't totally uninstall it and I know what is going on in the game. However, I'm not even switching GCID's, one of the things that had gotten really old. I am not missing the frustration and roller coaster ride of trying to get each new dragon. I have way too many other things to occupy my thoughts. A house torn apart while we try to remodel (when we don't really know what we are doing), trying to get Kydolind through his senior year, trying to get back into crafts and sewing, still doing volunteer work, plus several trips coming up. All I can say is thank you all for your kind words, and may all your dragon breedings be successful.
