Not sure where to put this to reach the folks I send gems & treats to regularly, so here I am... I'm having the first of two cataract surgeries tomorrow. This should help me see better long term, but recovery will take some time so I may be on here & DV even less than I have been recently. I'm not planning to leave, though!

koala with your surgeries! I had cataract surgery and could see better right away each time. It's an amazing difference since cataracts slowly dim colors and contrast, when you get it done it's amazing how brilliant all the colors are... I'm excited for you!

Wishing both of you the best. I was thrilled with my cataract surgery. My vision is better now than it's ever been in my life.

Dear Michele,
Please, no worries about gem-ing! Just sending good thoughts for you to heal well soon. In the spirit of DV, I hope it's appropriate to say, "Kudos to you!"
Take care,
Kris
Edit: Yes, it was supposed to read "Koala to you!"

elehcim, koalas on your surgeries, soon you'll be seeing so much better!
My Mom had 3 (!) cataract surgeries. Right after the first, she STARTLED! herself by dropping something hot in her lap, and she dislodged something, had to do it over So, stay mellow

I SEE elehcim and viviane both need a patented 'Cyn hug with a squeeze'... {{{elehcim}}} ... {{{viviane}}}
Report back here after your surgeries and let us know, better or worse?, better or worse?
Thanks so much Cyn! My surgery is not yet scheduled. i have another examination to do end of this month and then we will see further. But in due time I will report. That is, when I will be able to see whats going on on my Ipad lol
Thanks so much for the well wishes! One eye is done and is healing well, but the other isn't for another week, so my vision is even more challenging than it was the last few months. One eye needs the glasses at all distances, while the other can see close up and needs a new prescription for distance... it's giving me some headaches. Viviane, I strongly suggest having some audio books or some such available. Don't worry about the surgery itself, though. I didn't have any sedation and didn't even need the anti-anxiety meds they offered. The actual surgery was interesting -- no pain due to numbing drops, just some pressure, and I got to see cool colored lights during it. I wish I'd realized that the drops I have to put in at home would sting the first few times after surgery; while the sensation doesn't last long at all, I hadn't expected it since they were the same drops I'd had to take two days before the surgery.

Congratulations! Good to hear that you're healing well. One down and one to go. At least the wonky vision is just for a week. But I know what you mean. I found it easier to just accommodate the "new" eye, since I couldn't really see out of the other one anyway.

Michele, thank you for your report, gives me some better feeling about the surgery. You mention that your second eye will be done in a short while, here, in Europe, ie Switzerland, there is a laps of time of some months between the two processes. But as mentioned, for me it will not be before end April I think, having another eye examination first and then a medical checkup with my regular doctor. And then I will have to organise transportation to and from the hospital.
LOL, frightning indeed. Well, I only play DV in the evening, thus have to fill my days with something else, like this twin of mine called Viv ... Hehe.

When I read the article this morning I kept picturing your avatar dragon (including coffee cup!) up in the sky answering all of my questions!
So a question that has bothered me since 1975... what is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
If you use CFLs please replace them with the newer safer choices. This was written by a leading eye expert and I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. Best not take a chance on reoccurring cataracts.
if that fails, then spend another 205 gems (it's one expensive egg) or so for the egg. After all it's only $9.99 for 275 gems, and there is always that big vault where you work, right?
Please, don't listen to buffy's ill advice.
Yep, size of a football field and 2 1/2 stories tall; it's a BIG vault! However... the guns are equally impressive, matched only by the fact that most of the Federal Law Enforcement officers are ex- marines / SEALs / Green Berets / Rangers. They have a certain je ne sais quoi in their eyes (and they are super friendly when they know you - just no sudden movements =D)
Fun Fact: I'm actually a tour guide here as well as a programmer, so if anyone finds themselves (with friends or family too) in Minneapolis and wants to see the inside I can totally show you the fun stuff. And I can keep monetary policy discussions to a minimum on the tour.
$9.99... so tempting to go for it knowing it's just money...
