LOL, frightning indeed. Well, I only play DV in the evening, thus have to fill my days with something else, like this twin of mine called Viv ... Hehe.
When I read the article this morning I kept picturing your avatar dragon (including coffee cup!) up in the sky answering all of my questions!
So a question that has bothered me since 1975... what is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Wow, the doco ' last call at the oasis' just screened here on TV; v sobering near future for us all... I knew we all waste water badly, but I was not aware of the levels of contamination affecting remaining supplies: never mind oil and petrol...water is the new scarce 'gold'. Really hard to envision what difference little me can make... But the old 'think global act local' I suppose still holds?

I show "Blue Gold" to my environmental science students. Scary to me is how much of the remaining water supply has been privatized. That video is available online if you're interested.

Not a happy camper here - came home from work today only to find out the refrigerator died. Everything was already thawed and ice was melting. Just spent $900 on a new one that will be delivered on Sunday. Tomorrow will be spent trashing food, clearing off the magnets and things, and cleaning the area around it. Boo.

I want to let you all know that I will stop playing DV. This has two reasons : The first is that my Ipad can't handle the program any more (too much crashes). And the second is that the program has shifted in a direction that I don't like. Once upon a time we used to breed for the dragons at our own pace (or at least most of the time at our own pace, that could only change when there was a limited dragon with a very short window of availability). Now we have one event after the other. Dragons have to be bought with event currency. And to get enough event currency, it is necessary to do tedious things over and over again and - even worse - to go online every two hours to refill the event arena. I don't want to organize my life around a game. So I decided that this is my DV end. It have been 4 incredibly fun years. I want to say thank you to all of you, especially the mods. :-*If it wasn't for the forum I would have stopped playing much earlier. I will miss you like crazy, but there has to be a sharp cut for me. I'll be around here for another 9 days or so, because I want to try to make a display video after the event is over. Has anybody ideas how to record the screen of an ipad ? (It's not jailbroken and I can't download the right version of Shou.) I'm also working on a final park picture which I want to order as a poster to have a souvernir of those 4 years. I will post the picture in the park thread when it's ready. The lists in my signature are updated up to the Quartz dragon.
I wish you all a lot of fun with this game and that you'll allways can achieve your most wanted dragon.
Bye Marion

Will miss you Crumble, and I'm sure you have thought of simply continuing to play the game in the way you used to? IE ignore the events unless you feel like participating? But a continually crashing device causing grinding of the teeth I can empathise with; so many great parks I can no longer visit as my gen2 iPad can't cope with the density of their decorations ( sob); Respecting your decision and wishing you gambolling koalas to accompany you onward
Sad sad news Marion, but I fully understand the reasons why you are taking this decision. I too am envisaging to put an end to this DV experience as the way the game has developped is no longer pleasant. I still love visiting the parks and watch those sometimes magnificent creatures (nfortunately there are also piles of very uggly ones), but as you stress, it is no longer fun as it used to be. Events were nice when they occured twice or three times a year, but now you really feel that the whole thing is just a money making thing for BFS. I will no go on very long with this system and my dragons will not have too many more occasions to meet the new ones which BFS have ready to launch in -probably- a near future. I know you have many talents and will no doubt find other interesting hobbies. I has been great to have you around. Du wirst mir und uns allen fehlen! Alles Gute and we keep in touch Viviane
It's so sad to see you leave . BFS lost a devoted, valuable, veteran player, DV community lost a great contributor whose knowledge about the game is second to none, and I lost a dear friend.
Many of you don't know this, but crumble was my very first gem buddy. 3 1/2 years ago she reached out to me via PM when I was a newbie, stumbled on to this forum, looking for gem friends. 1,000+ gems later we are still here. My sister introduced me to DV, but crumble was the one that inspired me to stay w/ the game and see the potential aspect of designing beautiful parks.
Just glad to have few items of you to remember you by. Thanks a million for your friendship. Xx
Some friends touch your heart in a way that you can never erase.
Sadly, it seems like so many players are leaving the game these days, and now crumble608 is leaving too. I definitely think that the forum has kept many of us going in the game, but it isn't a forever thing. Stay well, crumble, and drop by often to see us!
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
Know you can't see my face right now, but it is very sad. So sorry to see Crumble leaving the game, even though I do understand the reasoning behind the departure. Is still very sad to say goodbye to the old friendships made through this game, and Gizomo, too. We had such fun trying to figure out how to play the games and help each other, ahhhh, those were the days. So much a grind now with the almost non-stop events, especially now that the events are the only way to get most of the new dragons until BEB.
Farewell my friend, never goodbye. You are always most welcome to come back and chat and catch us up on your life. Stay happy, healthy and safe.
The end of Legendary Egg Hunt also marks my departure of DV. I am sorry for my post is poorly time. Every good things soon come to an end, and past few years were exceptionally good! I have been wanting to quit the game for about a year or so, but one thing after another I linger. DV is no longer fun, and this event finally gives me reasons to break away from it, I hope, for good.
I already miss you all like mad, so much that it hurts; this post will be short.
I am tired of grinding for eggs, stardusts, roses, and etc, every night, days in, days out. I used to curl up, and fall asleep w/ a good book , but now, most night is a race to find those event currencies, maxing out...etc. DV is no longer suited my life style. I thank you for all the fun, the laugh, and memories. My life is forever richer because of you.
I bid farewell. May the paths ahead of you fill w/ happiness and health. May koala embraces your parks with each and every single whine. Xx
Crumble & Buffy, you've both been such a integral part of the DV forum & the game for me. Neither will be the same without you. I'm grateful that our "paths crossed." Who would have thought one could become so fond of people one hasn't met withbasically only a game in common. Thank you for your contributions to the commaradarie of the forum, our knowledge of the game, the beautiful island ideas, the fun & humor, & glimpses into the lives of people in other parts of the world. I am going to miss you. Please come back once in a while & let us know what you've been doing with all the time you will have if you aren't checking your parks every two hours! May lots of koalas follow you wherever you go & whatever you do. Jeannette

Buffy, I am sad that you're leaving but I also know just what you mean. These days I read less, and when I do I'm usually stopping to check on my park. It is something that just feels a little wrong to me. You will always have the friends you made in this forum, so please do stop by to let us know how you're doing!
Now I'm thinking we should have a sub-forum for all the members who have stopped playing to gather...
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
Your contributions to this community are enormous - they go beyond help, discussion, information, and ideas. You are truly a friend to all and that I will miss beyond words I understand, and completely appreciate, your situation. Life must come first - once a game turns to a chore it is no longer useful. I sincerely hope our paths cross again, and that all of your days are filled with flowers and birdsong (and the occasional dragon's presence ).
iOS GCID EuroKnuter Friends ALWAYS welcome, but I'm full for GT buddies =) Rockin' an ElektronX Jet Icon!

Dear Buffy Thank you for all the laughs over the years. You have an amazing memory and ability to magically bring up relavant posts from thin air, well done and much appreciated. Take care, and like others have already said, please drop in to say hello. We will miss you.
I am missing you already and you're still posting. What's up with that?
What everyone else said to the power of 10! (mishkasmom, rion, EuroKnuter: you three owe me a box of tissues.)
I hope BFS is paying attention. It seems many of us took up this game for the relaxing game play. We loved the excitement of breeding a new dragon but it also gave us joy to decorate our parks and visit each other. Between the back to back events, the crowded parks due to not enough Islands, and the game outgrowing many players' technology, it is causing many to leave the game. What was a game that was a destressor in our lives is becoming a cause of stress. There are thousands of games out there that offer fast gameplay, not many that offer a relaxing journey the way the original Dragonvale was played. Why BFS has decided to go this route I do not understand. I also see it in the new Dragonvale World. It's always prodding you to jump through the next hoop and it offers plenty of decorations yet no real estate to decorate. I hope they rethink the business model they are chasing because in the long run it will drive more players away.
Take care of yourself, buffmeister, and if you find a soothing, relaxing game in your travels be sure to hightail it back here and tell us about it.
