Hi dragonbayne and welcome! Not sure where you have read that you need a 'lake' dragon to breed a Rainbow, cos as you have found there is as yet no such dragon listed in the dragonarium ( if you're using an iPad or tablet, click the purple roofed building button on the bottom of your screen, for an iPhone or android I'm not sure if it's there, but someone who uses one will chip in, I'm sure )as existing in Dragonvale. The dragonarium lists all dragons, and when each may be bred ( when there is an hour glass that is green =limited breeding time, grey= cannot breed without cloning in coop... Cloning...coop....you've got a bit of reading to do On this site begin at the home page and the beginners thread, then work your way through other threads as they show topics you're interested in, and ask! The folk here are super friendly and helpful to newbies For help, with breeding, most of us seem to use at least the 'dragon vale sandbox', link below. There is also a good breeding guide Dragonbreed, it's an app you download. Probably others too, but those will get you started. And the dvwiki is useful ...and there is a Facebook page if you do FB... Welcome, aloha and koala! ( the koala has a history specific to this community, you'll find it in the threads www.2084.org/dragonvale/breeding-sandbox/

Am also playing ma Jong... Thanks, only when you have a minute in between the event stuff, lol Koala all

Olds, re the wonderful Vastgotaspets ... Your photo is so like my wee girl, I call her Nissa ( apparently means 'happy' in old Norse... I hope that's right!), I will have to learnn how to post a photo now, so I can show you her, rich apricot, white bib, 4 white socks, and grey/ tan with black 'harness' markings, beautiful curled tail... In fact she is often mistaken by folks for a 'dwarf german shepherd ', tut tut I'm racing off for a specialist eye appointment now, will try to work out photo thing and give you more of my story of finding her when I get back
Ah I can put a photo of her on imgr but it doesn't want to copy and paste to here and I don't know what to do! Sorry ill have to sort back through threads, someone once listed the steps to put photos up here using either imgr or photobucket... I'll have a hunt
anyway, the story: I have had German shepherds all my life, then as I got older and moved to a city sized section ( mines about 800 sq m) I felt that was not big enough, and I was no longer a runner, to exercise a large GS. So I looked around for what type of dog next, and had almost convinced myself a Scottish Terrier would be good, then saw a Swedish Vallhund in a park one day, and fell in love asked the owner about them, read up all I could find on them, went looking and found Miss Nissa she is a delight, a clown, very smart, ( brings the toy by name) and a total hard case to train!!! Desire to please me? Zero! Took me two years of twice a day training to get her to walk ' at heel', and I still don't trust that if she wanted to 'herd' a jogger down the park she would do that and not come if I called I haven't had so much fun and laughter with any of my GS, who had such a strong desire to please. My theory is that the Vastgotaspets is more 'primitive', has been less domesticated for years cf to GS, she does lots of primitive behaviours; licks dew from grass as we're exercising if she gets thirsty, pounces like a fox on grasshoppers, has a a super strong prey drive, and is primarily visual, then nose, then ears, but then as a herding breed that makes sense.
I wanted to do agility with her, but sadly she has luxating patellas, so that rules out jumping and fast changes in direction. However, a total joy!! you have good dogs Thankyou!!!!

What lovely dog. Thanks to you I now learn a lot about the Västgötaspets or as it was named before Svensk vallhund. As you know it is known since the time of the vikings. When count Björn von Rosen in the beginning of 1940 remembered the the dog from his childhood, there were not many left. He got in contact with the schoolleader Karl-Gustav Zetterste'n. They began cykling around in the Vara suroundingd and found dogs which they registred. Only about 5-10 drogs were accepted as the proper race. 1943 the race was agnoleged by the SKK - Swedish dog association. The name Västgöta spets the race got in 1953. Before Svensk vallhund.
As I mentioned before it's more than Västgötaspets that comes from Västergötland and the vikings ☺
Look at the dialect word öfsedröp (ö is pronounced like u in burning) What do you think about it?
Picture from Vara plains where they found the dog.

Hmm, I shall have to google ofsedrop... Saying it doesn't give me an aha!
Google translate and toolbox trans don't help either... Do enlighten me Olds!
Yes the dogs are commonly called Swedish Vallhunds here, and there is a debated theory that they are linked with the Welsh corgi some way back: either a common ancestor or the chaps who ensured the breed survived bred w corgis to broaden the gene bank... I'm not sure, the SV has much sharper pointed ears and face than corgi, and in my experience, the SV is much more behaviourally primitive I'm so glad I found the breed hope I outlive her, and may even have years for another
Thankyou for the pic of the Vara plains! It's so great to connect across the world thru this game

First I have to say a word about Svensk Vallhund the words. It's a shepherds dog. Valla is a verb meaning shepherding - keeping the cattle together. Hund is dog or hound ☺
Öfsedröp.
You have probably heard and used the word eavesdrop. This is a person standing where the water drops from the edge of the roof listening.
Öfs[et] means the edge of the roof where the water drops. Dröp is the same word as drop - dropping.

Yes the SV certainly is a cattle dog; Nissa has a huge bark for her size, and would be a great huntaway in NZ except for the hilly terrain where her wee legs would be sorely tested:) she does do well over rough ground when we go tramping tho, and I forget she's got short legs until I see her jumping up to get over the taller grass

Slowly sneaking back in the forum.... Hi all, ((((Group Hugs)))) Happy New Year!!!
I had been crazy busy at the year end with work, but other than that life in buffy's land is swell. Will post more in a bit. Xx
Considering how busy last few months were, I did very well during the Winter Event. I purchased all the winter event dragons and pedestals w/ ice berries, and still had little bit ice berries left in the end. Sparkling dragonarium and a missing egg, to complete the egg collection, is in the oven.
I am sharing an image of my Halloween island. It took me a while to decorate this one... in part I guess I had in my mind a traditional Halloween image..ie. dark, scary, or/and haunted castle. But as I work on it I realize there are so much life, and vibrant colors on this island that I think why not... Let's make this island fun and colorful w/ contrasting purple and orange color.
Look at this as if you are going to haunted castle during the day time. There you have the pumpkin patch, petting zoo where the animals dress up in their Halloween outfits, a playground for the children w/ bounce house and ferris wheel for them to play, and of course the Whitbee's Castle.
Some friends touch your heart in a way that you can never erase.
Hey all... Just thinking out loud, but has anyone figured out the following:
I like collecting two of each dragon, one to turn into a baby and one adult. However, concidering the amount of dragons, is it even possible to display 2 of each? And if so, what amount of each habitat would be required?
I know, likely over thinking it a bit, as I'd have to get ONE of each before worrying about two, but I'd like to know if anyone else has thought this through?

Yep this has been asked and answered a few times, particularly as we get more draggies and more islands. I think the figures various calcs give may mean reducing decorations to a minimum...for me, I'm resigned to not being able to display adult Twin and baby of each, because I don't want shoulder to shoulder habs w no room for decorations. But each to their own , the joy of this game
The following courtesy Magpac. DV Max habs for max 90: ( thanx Magpac);
At level 90, you have 93 habitats available, plus the 10 you can unlock with gems (50, 100, 150 ... 500 gems), and there are 25 'Reward/Event/Special' Habitats.
Plus the (1/4/20, depending on how you want to count them) 'habitats' on the Gemstone island, the (4/20) Galaxy islands, and Kairos Perch and Gaia's Nest.
The 25 'Reward/Event/Special' habitats (that don't count against the habitat limit) are:
If you had all 103 habitats as 5 slot ones, and had both of the giant Rift reward habitats, and (as pointed out to me) used 2 wishes on the small dark/light reward habitats, you could have 670 dragons on display. I currently have ~613 dragons on display.

Nice. Thanks. I do see your point and the spacing issue. I have a few islands where I have crammed 9 giant habitats and that basically leaves room for a path, booster, and displaying of eggs... for now, as I likely don't have all the eggs to overfill it yet haha.

I hear that. I was just teasing, trying to draw in the crowed again. I'm bad myself for disappearing between event, but with my iOS now linked to FB, I use my cell mainly so more into it.
