With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a week to vote. So about the 7th of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit.

I agree! I did vote for the Poppy post that I nominated but if it wins, send both gems to Poppy. He's not buying them anymore and we can't have him constantly wearing a Fletch mask as it might do untold damage to the various libidos in the Poppy household!
POTM - at this rate, August will be a stunner too!

I'm thinking... I have a one-week seminar cum short holidays around the first of September. I'll be missing out on some days. I've got some 2,300 tickets in the bank as of now and piling up... I could release them slowly to the limits and accumulate some more up to the end, and if colleagues catch me at the iPad, I could say I was doing some very important banking operations, right?
POTM - you have to say that there are animals' lives at the cost of these transitions! Also you could say that these sorts of transitions could save the ice

The Loot dragon's manic expression and its obsession with the green gem reminds me of a fairytale trope of a dragon hoarding treasure in a cave. I don't know where this trope comes from, but it's one of those "quests" the hero has to take: he (sadly, invariably a "he" in these stories) has to slay the dragon to claim the treasure.
But to me the red scales on the Loot also look like a knight's armour, which makes me think of another treasure dragon: the Gold dragon. I've always thought that the Gold dragon's scales look like armour too, so I went into my park to take a look:
Now, the Gold dragon has always reminded me of a Japanese samurai, but I think that there are certainly similarities between the Gold and the Loot. This makes me imagine that the Loot dragon was once a Gold dragon who became obsessed with the treasure it was producing. Over time, its fixation with treasure gradually discoloured the dragon's bright gold scales to a dull but somewhat radioactive red shade. As the ingame description says, wizards created a non-magical green gem for the Loot to play with. I think that by sheer will, the Loot was able to reproduce this green gem in its offspring, so that a baby Loot comes out of the egg carrying its own green gem. Even though the baby Loot has pretty intelligent-looking eyes, this gem is all it every looks at, producing the deranged expression that we see in the juvenile and adult stages.
Just thought I needed a little creative exercise today...
Just thought I'd move the discussion over here from the social breeding thread:

POTM Rion's story about the Loot Dragon

Personally I would have thought a Loot dragon would steal treasure. Or at the least, be ill gotten gains. As such it would want to be colours that would allow it to blend in with its environment.
That would be a Looter dragon. One is the swag, the other, a swag snagger .
No, only an amateur swag snagger would swagger for the weight of the swag a professional swag snagger had snagged, would cause that snagger to stagger.
Wapa, you got my vote! POTM

(I thought the dragon on the left *WAS* Fletch in his Princess Leia costume)

Pls they're wrapped with flying eucalyptus leaves - shown to attract koalas!
But did you use the right species? Koalas don't eat just any eucalyptus leaves you know!
