With the advent of the wishing well, and the ability to instantly get hard to breed/expired dragons we are left with a conundrum of how often wishes will be bestowed upon us. At the moment we have no idea how the mechanics of it will work. Will BFS just give them to us? Will they be earned by a new dragon? Will the Wishing Well itself simply start to recharge once the first wish is spent? No idea. But we can discuss how often we think wishes should be granted.
Now I'm not asking for the most amount of wishes you want, but what you think is a fair amount to be granted to us in normal game play. Everyone gets one vote.
I think that we will get wishes at appropriate times of the year, like Christmas and during the star fall event (shooting star). I don't think it will be quaterly or any other regular time interval. and I think it's more fair for the wishes given out to make sense, I think there might be wishes at the end of events, so that instead of treats we can turn extra tickets into a wish, if we have enough.
What do I think is fair? About 5 wishes a year, (four events + Christmas/BEB?)

I also think it'll likely (if anything) be events/Xmas
Going on the length/style of this event I can only presume they'll be much fewer events over the year compared to previous. Perhaps 3 chances a year for a wish? Probably by filling up the wishing well each time much like this event.
I guess my hope is that they keep it special; I have loved reading the entries when the wishing well arrived - we all seem totally surprised and excited that we have a wish to spend and that we can't decide where to spend it. I love that sense of childlike excitement so I hope they keep it random. It doesn't even have to be attached to anything, just boom! Today you get a wish!
I'm going 'other' for 2 reasons - With random / limited wish coin availability it will keep it special and quest-like instead of simply collecting. The second reason is one of mechanics: Since everything is 1 wish, very difficult wishes are equivalent to easy ones. They would have to change the 'prices' for wishes and implement multi-wish-coin items in the "wish-market" to be usable in a collection mechanism scheme IMHO.

The real question in my mind is: how can BFS use this new mechanic to make money?
Because otherwise, it's going to cost them money.
First ones always free, of course
But it strikes me as bad business to train your players to just wait for more free stuff when your business model is based around folks spending gems/money to speed things up or buy things outright.
This is not to say they won't give away additional Wish Coins at some point, just that I suspect there will also (primarily) be a monetary/social cost for acquiring more.
I also suspect the prices in the market will go up at some point, depending on the availability of Wish Coins going forward...
Won't be at all surprised if there is eventually a situation where a dragon can only be acquired by breeding or Wish Coins.
This might solve some of the gem problems going forward...
I chose Other and think it will be tied to some, not all, events and BEB. It will end the frustration and disappointment of say, trying for Ovalith the entire BEB and not getting it. Also getting to the end of the Faire and missing out on Loot, just make a wish! I don't see it as affecting the BFS bottom line too much just ending the frustration some people encounter when they can't get the coveted dragon in the time allotted. After all, do you think most of us still won't be jumping through hoops to get the latest, greatest dragon as soon as it comes out? My vote is "other". As said above, wishes should be special, and maybe even, completely random. I could see them being limited to once or twice a year, seems that might encourage & reward playing for "the long haul". My question is: do we know that the Wishing Well is going to be active & not just a decoration, or is this wishing?
Edited to add: I should have read Fletch's comment in the Faire thread first.

I know I stressed it in the OP but I am blown away that no-one has chosen a frequency greater than 4 times a year. You people are why this is THE Dragonvale Community.
Also, the thing I want to wish for are unavailable. Twin Ovalith. No question. Although I guess the point of the gem collection is that it requires a lot of work.

Also BS, what "gem problems"?
Twin Ovalith - Forum Project BeB 2015/16
This is hilarious. I was about to post about finding a breeding partner for twovalith during the BEB event. What a coincedece.
Any partners willing to? I figured that L15 is where all the dragons breeding for twovalith dragons should be, right? Bring on the twovalith (p.s I've never had to breed one before.) To those of you wondering. Remember that ridiculously low chance of breeding an ovalith dragon? We reckon twin chances are about 1 in 10. So yeah, 10 ovaliths later we might have a twin...
p.s I want a twin egg too!

Testing has shown that dragon level does not affect the chance of breeding in the CBC. So level 4 dragons are the same as level 20.
Also, it seems that BFS have tweaked the breeding chances so that it is not strictly the chance of a twin x the chance of a gemstone dragon. My testing showed 1 in 3 gemstone dragons was a twin.
And let's make a thread for the Twovalith breeding, shall we.
It would be cool to get a "birthday wish" on the anniversary of when you started playing. (Birthday? Birthday wish?) plus that would stagger out the time of year the wishes went out which could be pretty cool. Christmas seems rather obvious, and perhaps if they do a larger style event like this over the holiday it makes sense. Start fall seems logical too. "When you wish upon a star" and all that.
As for whether wishes come too cheaply, has anyone done the math as to how many of us were actually pitching into the wishing well? I dropped dragon cash every day. Many of you guys probably did as well. In a sense I feel like I helped "earn" my wish. I love the open spending concept of it but I don't consider it 100% a freebie like I didn't do anything to earn it.
In any game with a long life span, you will eventually create a have/have not economy. Long term players in this game tend to have huge stashes of DC, gems and treats.
This can sometimes create issues when introducing new content. The 13th island costing 2 billion DC was pocket change for me, but a real challenge for one of my friends who has yet to save their first billion...
Regardless, introducing a new currency changes that. In a way, a singe wish coin is worth more than 3650 gems. That's how many gems it costs to buy the most expensive dragon in the game, Ovalith, outright. Which you can only do if Ovalith were actually in the Market.. but it's not... it's only in the Wish Market the moment and only available via Wish Coin (there may be something that costs more than Ovalith and I'm just forgetting... but the point still stands)
In addition to that, I don't think anyone has figured out how to hack the game to get unlimited wish coins yet... so there's that...
Ultimately, we'll just have to wait and see what the future holds

Having nothing else to breed for, I tried for another Ovalith through the entirety of BEB last year and got nada. So don't get your hopes up!

Useful info fletch. Disappointing that level makes no difference, and it seems like a twovalith is a tangible breed if the twemostone chances are about 1/3...
