At level 11 you gain access to the Guild Hall. So how, as a forum, can we make the most of that?
Guilds have a limit of 30 members, so I have no doubt we will need more than one to cover everyone on the forum that takes up the new game. You need at least 10 other Guild members to get the benefits of their help, but the more people that are available to 'help' you the better the chance you will reap the benefit, so membership of 20 will be much better than 11.
We have created a primary Guild, Dragonvale Community, to get things underway so feel free to join it when you reach Level 11. When we get close to max members we will have a think about what we want to do. All suggestions are welcome.
Dragonvale Community Clans Once it starts filling up it might be hard to find the forum Clans. It does make suggestions and allow you to find the Clans your friends are in, but it will be beneficial to keep a track of all the clans here. If you create one for fellow forumers post in this thread.
Dragonvale Community - Leader Fletch_smf
Would it be best to create Clan DragonVale Community I, II, III, IV, V, etc?
As the game takes off around the world Clan names will be being created fast and furious. Keeping ours designated with the forum name will make it easily searchable and may bring us more members. I wonder how BFS plans to police the names for naughty ones? Do you want to create a Clan for test accounts only? Maybe call it Aloha Spirit and make it invitation only.

The profanity filter is super strict. Quite a few messages from Rion have contained bleeped out words, and I am fairly certain she wasn't swearing at me. I have had a hard time with the description of the Clan it would not accept
Maybe they don't like the advertisement. Personally I think people should be free to make their own clans and we can all have individual threads for clans which we have created with a decent amount of members. How I see it:
Option 1: In the general clans thread, anyone can post the name and details of a clan they have started. If people show interest and they get a decent followship, then they can request their own clan thread under a clan "sub-board" so that they can host details about their clans and how it works. Perhaps the clans will be able to compete for fun sometime, and each clan can talk about how it's doing etc. Option 2: In the OP of a general clans thread, we list all our active and major clans of this site and its details. All clan talk goes into the normal thread and mini competitions or fun games can be held there.
I favour option 2.

I think option 2 would be best. When you're in a clan you can post messages within the game to your clan members, so perhaps we might want to direct conversation there so as to avoid too much clutter here? Or do we like the conversation to take place here in the forum instead?
Fletch_smf, I had no idea my messages were getting censored! Maybe it's because I've turned off my profanity filter, so all messages are coming through intact. I'll turn on the filter to see what's bleeped out... Lots of random innocuous stuff, it seems, like "speeding" from "speeding up breeds," and "cool." I'm guessing the "speed" was bleeped out because it's a name of a drug. A little heavy-handed, though.
Still not sure if we should leave clan settings to "Open," since that means anyone can join it. When you go to the Clan Hall, you can see a number of clans which are available, so that means anyone playing the game might be able to see and join the clans that we've set up specifically for members of this forum. The clan that I'm currently in is quite non-active. Requests for help only receive maybe 3 out of the 10 required responses, so I think that we'll need clan members who do check in regularly to help. I'm thinking we should probably set our clans to "Accepting Join Requests," so that we can verify that it's someone from the forum before we accept them.
This could all be too exclusionary, so I'm definitely open to hearing what everyone else thinks.
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
"Speed" contains "pee". Not sure about "cool" though.
And just so everyone knows, this is the original forum Clan thread. I am posing the question to the mods now, but it will be open to the forum for their thoughts when the game is released. I will possibly delete some of these posts before hand, but you should keep in mind that this thread will be read by all memebrs. Delete anything you don't want to be public knowledge.
I've already had a request from a player called "Hunter" which I denied. I couldn't talk to him/her to find out if he is a member here, but there are no posts here to suggest s/he is. Accepting Requests seems like the way to go.
I like option 2 as well.
I started a clan to see if being an admin gave you the power to start these games that they refer to. Can't see anything so far. But then I am the only member. I don't know if clan comps mean comps between the members of a clan, or comps between clans. Also, as the admin of this Clan, I don't know what would happen if I left it. If it needs someone to accept invitations, that might make it impossible to access again. Will be staying here for the time being.
Also, see the Clan called Dragon Devs? The Dev stands for Developers. They are the BFS Wizards testing stuff out.

Speed - I don't think it's because of pee -I would say rion is right - it is a pretty bad drug, but a slightly unnecessary censorship all the same.
Nomrally caln games can can only be participated in if a certain followship is gotten - I guess 10 would be suitable here.

Also Rion, have you seen anything about breeding with other Clan member dragons!
Nope, haven't seen anything on that. I wonder if that feature is available in DV World yet...
I did notice though, that when you visit someone else's park (whether they're your friend or your fellow clan member), you can select a dragon and possibly cast a spell on that dragon! I didn't try it though, saving my resources for now...

Yeah, you can't feed them, but you can cast spells.

The Dragonvale Community Clan is for for Forum members only. Please post here when sending a request to join to confirm you are a member. For the moment I am just denying requests from people I don't recognise.
Perhaps sharing experience based on a different game but with a similar feature might be useful? If not, just disregard this post.
About a year ago the game Hayday decided to add neighbourhoods to the game. At first, language use was super restricted, but as time went by they adapted these restrictions, so those hiccups will probably be just a matter of time.. I cannot download this dv world yet (so frustrating!), so I do not know if these clans have a clear purpose? Entering a specific contest with your clan could be a purpose. Hayday created neighbourhoods so people could make teams to enter a derby and people could win prizes. If so, make sure everyone in your clan shares the same values and excitement.. Hayday mighty have made a substantail amount of money by creating neighbourhoods (and the derby that came with it) but has lost loads of players too, due to neighbours who -ultimately- could not see eye to eye and ran havoc in their hoods. Not the best side of human nature ;-) I feel this message is a bit of a cautionary tale, but just as long as these clans are handled with care it can be an awesome feature in any game.
Have fun with this new dv world game and I hope to be able to join you guys really really really soon (hear a hint of jealousy?)
I'm confused... what new game? How do I access it?
Ok, I figured it out... but iTunes says DragonVale World is not available to me, and asked if I wanted to look in the Philippines store. I'll try if/when it becomes available here.

Fletch_smf, I see you are having to fend off requests daily. Does it have a 'invitation only' choice? Maybe players could come to this thread and request an invitation which would then cut down on your workload.

There is, but it's no hardship to sort it out when I'm checking the game. And I feel giving people the chance to apply is a better way of getting them back here to the forum.

They seem to be changing the name from Clan to Guild, but it is not universally completed in the game yet. I have changed the name in the OP and the first post.
I've put in a join request to the DeagonvaleCommunity.c.o.m guild.
I was in another guild that had lots of members, so when I did I "request help" I always got more than 10 helpers. In fact, my latest help request said that I had gotten 19/10. However, I have no idea what that actually accomplished. I asked for help upgrading a habitat, and as far as I could see there was just as much time remaining on the upgrade as there would have been anyway.

Hmm … it should take the time off after 10 people helped. We haven't been in a position to test that as our numbers are less than that at the moment. I will approve your request when I'm on next.
