If you thought DV World was only about decorating Islands, acquiring Habitats, and breeding Dragons then you'd be missing out on half the fun! DV World introduces players to Locations! Currently there are four Locations which are unlocked at different Levels.
Brightleaf Jungle unlocks at Level ?. Items are gathered by your Brightleaf Jungle Dragons, Level 4 & up.
(BRIGHTLEAF JUNGLE SCREENSHOT)
Switchgrass Desert unlocks at Level ?. Items are gathered by your Switchgrass Desert Dragons, Level 4 & up.

By now you must be wondering of what use are all of these Items. Head right over to The Arcane Airship.
(SCREENSHOT ARCANE AIRSHIP)
Click on 'Board the Ship' for information on your latest order. Here you will find a list of Items to gather and the Rewards (Dragoncash and XP) for gathering. You may also see pictures of Dragons needed to complete the order. If you click on a Dragon you will find out what Level the Dragon needs to be so you can start leveling up if needed.
Fill all of the crates for Bonus Rewards (Dragoncash, Gems, XP). A Countdown Timer lets you know how much time you have left to complete the order.
Click on 'Storage' at any time to view the Items you have previously collected.
Gathering Dragons can only bring back the rewards of the elements that they contain. You are never going to gather Water Mushrooms with a regular Flytrap dragon. But this is only important if you are collecting items for specific spells.
You earn the same amount of XP as you spend on sending the dragon to gather. As you move up in levels you will discover that earning XP is more important conserving DC so send the most expensive dragons to help you level up faster. The dragons are listed below from cheapest to most expensive.
The variant dragons are the same price as the original, so if you send a WvFlytrap Dragon you can actually collect Water Mushrooms for the cheapest price. However, because there are 3 elements in the mix, the chance of a "fail" are higher than if you sent a Lake dragon.
Initially it takes 15 minutes for a dragon sent to gather, and this is not affected by type or level of dragon. There are items and spells which are described as "boosting gathering" but the net effect of them is to decrease the amount of time it takes before they return with the item.
As you place dragons at the location and unlock more rewards, gathering can take longer, depending on the reward that the dragon is bringing back. Level 2 prizes take 2 hours to gather. Level 3 prizes take 12 hours. The 30% discount really comes in useful then.
Gathering with Epic Dragons I have discovered that the Rainbow Dragon can gather from each of these first 3 Locations. It costs 4000 and earns you 4000. However my first attempt took 2 days. This is a long time for an epic dragon to be out of commission. We will see what it brings back. Not sure I will be trying this again in a hurry, but if anyone else does, please let us know and we'll collate the information here.

Spells When you gather enough of the right type of items you can use them to cast spells on your dragons. There are 3 types; Stat, Breeding & Visual.
Stat spells are used to decrease breeding and incubating times, and increase earning rates, and the gathering results of your dragons.
Breeding spells give you a temporary boost at breeding a rare dragon.
Visual spells alter breath particle and auras, the size of your dragons, and to dragons into Mega versions, or back into youths and babies.
Some of the ingredients you need are food that you grow in your farm plots, but mostly they are items 'gathered' from the 4 locations. When you first unlock a location you have access to all Level 1 items, and level 2 & 3 items are unlocked when you host more dragons, of a higher level, at the location themselves. You can read more about that in the Location Post and the Pantry entry in the post above.
An important thing to keep in mind is that spells are passed on to offspring in a cumulative way. If you have two parents with a 5% breeding discount, the new dragon will have a 10% discount. So casting these spells on new types of dragons when you get them, means all the hybrids that you make will get that discount.
Also, dragons can have more than one spell cast on them. They can have the spell for a breeding discount and a hatching discount, although it seems that only one spell is past on to offspring. We are not sure of the rules for the passing on of spells so info you want to pass on is appreciated.
The spells and the required items are listed below. The collectable items are coloured so you know what elements your gathering dragon requires to collect them. Some items are available at different levels for different elements. In such cases I have only listed the element with the lowest required level.
Some items cannot be gathered as rewards, at least not by regular dragons. Epic dragons can gather as well, and they seem to bring back some of these items. You might also receive them as gifts. And don't forget you can buy and sell items in Silvia's Market. It seems the market might be important to collect all the items you need for some of these rarer spells.

Do you want to turn your dragons back into babies or youths?
It is a popular option, so am just going to post a couple of notes here.
The Toddler Squash and the Desert Mushroom, both gathered from the Switchgrass Desert, are needed to Babify a dragon. The Youth Squash and the Cavern Mushroom, both gathered from the Darklight Cavern, are needed to Youthify a dragon.
This might also sway which Location you get first. If you would rather turn your dragons into babies, then you should unlock the Switchgrass Desert first.

Artefacts required for Spells
Some spells required items that you can make by completing Artefact Sets. The required Artefacts get collected when your Dragons gather items from Locations. I am going to start keeping records here to see if there is a system in place or if it is just random.
Can you receive Artefacts by collecting Level 1 Rewards?
It might be useful to note that each location has a corresponding base element that levels up much faster than the other base elements. As shown in the table in the OP, Fire unlocks at levels 25 and 100 at the Brightleaf Jungle, Earth at the Switchgrass Desert, and Water at the Darklight Cavern, which should leave Air at the Glimmerverse.
I'd recommend putting as many hybrids in your locations as you can, focusing on the specific base element that unlocks earliest at that particular location.

Great idea. I had them listed in the Item list, but I have made another table that just has that information.

Have finished the Items and Spells for the Glimmerverse location. Still need to tidy it up a bit, but all the info is there.
It seems that some items required for spells cannot be gathered by regular dragons. You probably get them all eventually through gifts, but these might be items that Epic dragons have to gather. Any info on gathering with epic dragons is appreciated, so we can see if we can make kind of sense of it.

Have just worked out why Seed Sap does not appear as a Reward Item. There is a mislabelling in the game, where Coin Sap shows up twice in the Darklight Cavern. The Level 2 Water Reward of Coin Sap, is in fact Seed Sap. Just received some then from gathering with a Water element dragon. Must send an email to BFS.
Have made a note in the post above in the mean time.

Emailed BFS. They replied with:
Hello,
Thanks for your email! I have passed this along to the engineering team and I apologize for the inconvenience while we look into this.
I don't have a sold timeline for the wider release, but I would recommend keeping an eye on our Facebook page here:
The new update has changed the name of a few items. Have updated them in the item list, but need to update them as ingredients to spells, and in other threads where they are mentioned.

Just updated the Stat Spells.
They changed Coin to Gold, Seed to Incubation, Search to Adventure, and Water became Tonic.

Yep, that's it. Thanks very much.
Most of it makes sense. Except the Coin to Gold change. Because the names of the spells still reflect the 3 levels of 'Tattered', 'Sealed' & 'Golden'. They have left the increased earning spell to be Golden Coin, because 'Golden Gold' would be a bad name.
Changing Water to Tonic eliminates any confusion with the Water dragon category.
Yes, a very good choice. I also like Adventure and Incubation instead of their originals. It's just that coin one, which I think was fine before, or they could change to 'earning' if they want to use a verb like the other items instead of just replacing one noun with another.. I am assuming they will see the Spell names and come to a better phrase soon enough.
I thought at one point Lillian the Lorebrarian popped up with a message that changing the breath particle could aid in breeding. I thought I took a screenshot of it but now I am unable to find it. It was at a lower level, so everyone keep an eye out for it and try to get a screenshot.
Hey Lady Maui, to turn your dragon Mega (only 4 dragons have Mega forms) you'll need to collect the specific artifact set for that dragon. For example, if you're looking to turn your Flytrap into a Mega Flytrap, you'll have to collect the 5 different types of Fly artifact. You can do this mainly by gathering food; sometimes when your dragon has completed gathering a wheel will pop up with 1 Fly artifact on it. Otherwise, you can try Silvia's Trading Post to look for any artifacts you're missing.
When you've collected all the artifacts in 1 set, you'll need to go into the Artifact Sets tab in the Wizard Hall to trade a complete set for the Mega Stone. Then go to the dragon you want to transform, and cast a Mega spell on it. Remember not to feed the Mega Stone to the dragon; it won't do anything but give the dragon XP!
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
Have we figured out if it is possible to breed a Mega variant using a Mega dragon or can you only achieve a Mega by casting a spell?
