So far, the egg drop appears to be a poor way to collect eggs. I miss the matching game!
I'm also worried about the higher cost of everything in this event. I've run the numbers, and it's roughly 50k to get all new items. Another 3k if you want a second new habitat. If we get 2 double weekends, and the cap is still 1000, then we can only collect 31k by April 4th. That doesn't include the daily gifts, which will sometimes be eggs, but that's a huge deficit to make up compared to prior events.
Does that include the 15K eggs for the Marbletail Dragon? It seems to indicate we will be getting 1 of that dragon for free through the Rotunda. If you take those eggs off the top, it gets it down to 35K -- MUCH closer to the 31K and a difference easily overcome by the Rotunda eggs if it is anything like Christmas.
No, it does not include the free dragon. Otherwise add another 15k, to 65k total.
Oh dear, trying to get little language training, I had changed my game language to French about a month ago. So today when the eagerly awaited egg hunt tutorial arrived, I could barely understand it! Fortunately the arrows are pretty self explanatory, and we've seen enough of these events that we know how they work. I found only one egg, the gold one that yielded one gem, and I didn't notice if it gave any eggs.

For me it's the prizes you need to possess just to open the next level that will make it next to impossible without spending close to a week's salary to get everything available. Just to be clear, I am not complaining because I get that BFS and Dragonvale need to be financially supported and I am thankful that I can play and get as much content that I do without spending real money. I really am grateful for that. And the truth is that it is so difficult for me because for over 9 months I was locked out of the game and it took a long time for the glitch to be fixed and an amazing amount of content seems to have been added during my forced hiatus. Consequently I have a lot to buy to make that up. Many long time players will not have that problem. However, I do feel bad for new players, I imagine this makes it hard for them to catch up. Still it's the game itself that is so much fun and this is all part of the game.

Took me three reloads of my game and several thorough scans to finally find the rather large golden egg!!! I found it easier finding the little ones last year

It took me nearly an hour to find the golden egg.....it was hiding behind my breeding cave! it was doing my head in big style ? So don't give up!

Yep, the log out make a cuppa, give the Wizards time to move the egg, log back in technique worked
Noticed also a log in tip saying something to the effect that if you have the right two chrysalis dragons you can breed the whole family.... Just a matter of working out the 2 ancestor chrysalis dragons... Hmmmmmm
The new drop the egg game has horrible return. The highest prize I saw (aside from 5 gems) is 40 eggs. Many times there are only 20/10 eggs on board. And of course the egg bounce to god knows which block. I'm going to stick to name that egg game.
Gosh how I miss the memory game! So many roses banked thanks to it

I have a few questions from a newbie who doesn't have a monolith or a chrysalis dragon... can I breed any of the dragons listed as prizes or do I need to get a couple as prizes to get started? I checked the sandbox, and it doesn't look like you can breed the monolith's unless you have a monolith? Or is it not updated yet and other combos will currently work? Can co-op work if someone else has one? Do I just need to be patient for the sandbox to update and stop asking silly questions? And am I correct in assuming that if you breed one it counts toward the ones you need to unlock the next level of prizes?
Also, what if I buy the monolith habitat for dragon cash in the market? Does that count towards unlocking the next level?
My wish list is so long now!!! I'm trying to have patience... I just saw I already have enough eggs for a pedestal... Should I be patient or give in to my must have it now? Maybe I'll look at the spreadsheet and try to be responsible and plan or something...

Available for Co-op and party hats - all my gem swap spots are currently full.
I had to power off my iPad, then on, to get the gold egg to show up. I tried everything else first..... That made it work though.

I have 2 monolith pedestals so why does it say I need one in the prize area? I'm not going to let this stress me out. If I don't get all of the dragons, so be it.
Beth- yes, you can buy the monolith habitat for DC and it will count as having it:) You need a monolith in order to breed a monolith.

I suspect you need the Monolith 5 pedestal to clear that.

It looks like you have to have a monolith to get started.
The monolith habitat in the prize tent is different than the two in the market (the one in the text has an egg on it). So I don't know if it would count or not. I think that particular habitat was also a prize in last year's event. Since the other two are dragon cash, you could buy one and see if it does (i always find dragon cash easier to earn than gems). But the more I think about it, I suspect it won't count. Hopefully someone else can verify!
Since this is a long event, I'd cultivate patience But its a game and its supposed to be fun. So if a pedestal will make you happy - do it! I love that spreadsheet!

Just a note on the golden egg - it's a moving one, not fixed like the last few events: I just had it appear out of nowhere on one of my islands. This may be why you're struggling to find it
