I have a few questions from a newbie who doesn't have a monolith or a chrysalis dragon... can I breed any of the dragons listed as prizes or do I need to get a couple as prizes to get started? I checked the sandbox, and it doesn't look like you can breed the monolith's unless you have a monolith? Or is it not updated yet and other combos will currently work? Can co-op work if someone else has one? Do I just need to be patient for the sandbox to update and stop asking silly questions? And am I correct in assuming that if you breed one it counts toward the ones you need to unlock the next level of prizes?
Also, what if I buy the monolith habitat for dragon cash in the market? Does that count towards unlocking the next level?
My wish list is so long now!!! I'm trying to have patience... I just saw I already have enough eggs for a pedestal... Should I be patient or give in to my must have it now? Maybe I'll look at the spreadsheet and try to be responsible and plan or something...
Hi, Beth ..
It looks like you have to have a monolith to get started.
The monolith habitat in the prize tent is different than the two in the market (the one in the text has an egg on it). So I don't know if it would count or not. I think that particular habitat was also a prize in last year's event. Since the other two are dragon cash, you could buy one and see if it does (i always find dragon cash easier to earn than gems). But the more I think about it, I suspect it won't count. Hopefully someone else can verify!
Since this is a long event, I'd cultivate patience But its a game and its supposed to be fun. So if a pedestal will make you happy - do it! I love that spreadsheet!
Thanks, I have been using both the wiki and sandbox, they are soooo useful! I just mis-understood the monolith entries, I thought maybe they were "out of season" and you needed two monoliths to make a clone, and when they were "in season" they could be bred with other things.. if that makes sense. It was wishful thinking!
So my first course of business will be to get a monolith to breed with all the ones I now see in co-op!

Hmmm... On second thought I should try to get two chrysalis dragons first and try to breed more, since there's only one monolith anyway, so breeding more won't help me to unlock prize levels.

I have 2 monolith pedestals so why does it say I need one in the prize area? I'm not going to let this stress me out. If I don't get all of the dragons, so be it.
Beth- yes, you can buy the monolith habitat for DC and it will count as having it:) You need a monolith in order to breed a monolith.
I suspect you need the Monolith 5 pedestal to clear that.
Boo, is the only Mono pedestal I don't have yet. **pout**

I can't get through the tutorial without my iPad crashing, even after resetting it.
Anybody else? Any advice?
UPDATE: It was the "look at all the lovely prizes" part of the tutorial that kept crashing it. I was able to close that out in lightening speed and continue.

I think this is a good point. Maybe put it on your wishlist. It's expensive (just for unlocking prizes) especially if you're more interested in the Chrysalis dragons!

Hey guys, Someone on Reddit has worked all this out. I'm gonna post it as written by them.
Write the five dragon names in a circle, clockwise: Chysalis, Swallowtail, Marbletail, Lacewing, and Duskwing, in that order. Each dragon needs the dragon on either side of it as its breeding pair. So every dragon is a parent or child of the two adjacent dragons, and is not related to the two dragons on the other side of the circle. Neat, huh? Very tidy.
You need 3 dragons (owned or borrowed via co-op) to get the other two, but not just any three: you can't start with three dragons in a row on the circle.
We all get free Marbletail, so would could in theory buy Chrysalis and Duskwing since they are the earliest / cheapest, and breed those with Marbletail to get the others. But the dragons are limited so there may not be time to breed Lacewing and Swallowtail if we wait for Marbletail. And unlocking the fourth group to buy Lacewing and Swallowtail outright will also take a long time. Backflip has created a truly fiendish puzzle!

How do you know to put them in that order?
I can't take credit for the circle, but I did write it out and looked at the breeding pairs that Mr Bones posted earlier in the thread (I wanted to put that in too, but couldn't work out how to do it.)
With the Rotunda we do get Marbletail free on the last day, the only 2 dragons you theoretically need to buy are Chrysalis and Duskwing to breed them all with the free one. There was a clue on the loading screen about finding the pair that unlock the secrets of the Chrysalis family.
This all being said, they are limited dragons and there may not be time to breed them all.
I hope they conjure a reduction in price spell. If not, it looks like it will cost 39,475 eggs just to get the habitat and all the new dragons, and that assumes you get the last one for free. That doesn't take into account any other necessary purchases to unlock higher levels.
There's also a good possibility of a "weekend-only" dragon at some point, which will cost even more, if you aren't able to breed one.
Lots of eggs to gather during the 25 days time or so window, specially for new players.
Let's hope that we can breed them ALL, and FAST! There is always a chance that wizards grant us another wish. Or we can have 3 long double weekends.

Hi Beth I have all the monolith dragons so you buy the monolith 5 dragon with your eggs. As we are friends already I will put up another one in my coop so you can breed off that...hopefully you should get another one. I will watch out for when you get it when I visit your park and as soon as I see it I will put one in my coop.
Thanks for all the info! I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do on this one given the state of my eyes. (Second surgery is this coming Monday... still don't have the right glasses lens for the fixed eye.)
Any idea if (or how many times) we can do the drop game if we start when we're close to the max number of eggs?

I bought the monolith habitat in the market but it did not count. The prize tent still says 0/1 beside the habitat. I had a large monolith habitat already before purchasing the one in the market which also didn't count. So two monolith habitats but neither one counts

You need to get the event monolith habitat, which can only be purchased with event currency. On the plus side, it has a slightly different look, which makes it unique, and it does not count toward the total number of habitats in your park.

I dont't get it!
BFS changed how the event prizes were handled due to complaints from players not being able to pick and choose which prizes they liked. BFS did an AMAZING job with the Faire last year and that was by far the best reward system I had seen in any mobile app, but it may have been too good seeing as BFS has gone back to that crappy system before the Faire where the prizes are once again tiered and cannot choose which prizes you want. I have no idea why BFS went back to such a distasteful system but they have their reasons. I would think more people spent REAL money on IN-GAME currency when they could get the prizes they WANTED. I will do what I can to collect the IN-GAME currency, but refuse to PAY FOR event currency with REAL dollars, especially since I cannot CHOOSE what prizes I want. This pains me as I do not have Ovalith or a Panlong/Bloom.
I guess what I am getting at, the old needed improved which they did with the Faire, but there was no need to change that but instead went back to the same system that existed before the Faire?
What is the justification for reverting back to a greedy system? Only reason I see is:
"Customers earned (not bought) the currency they needed for prizes they wanted (even with the imposed earning cap), so we (BFS) changed the system to improve sales (forcing the customer to buy currency for unwanted prizes to "unlock" the prizes they do want but cant afford)".
"Thank you Player! But your Prize is in another tier!"

The Large MONOLITH habitat is the one that counts towards the prize total. I had the regular one and it did not count but when I upgraded it to the large one it did.
Oops I was mistaken my park that had the upgraded MONOLITH habitat before the event started counted it in the prize list. My other park just had the regular MONOLITH habitat and didn't count it even when I did upgrade it.
It's early days.... we don't know what the Wizards have planned for the next few weeks so I'm just plodding along for now. All I'm concerned about for this moment in time is 1550 eggs; it is really the only thing I can control, so ... it is what it is. To slaughter a famous quote, "the journey of 50,000 eggs begins with a single egg". (Please don't egg my park!)

I'm not sure I completely understand how the breeding of the Chrysalis dragons work... can someone read this over and correct me if I've made a mistake?
1. Chrysalis dragons don't behave like normal epics, so epic x chrysalis will NOT result in chrysalis dragons. You must buy to breed.
2. Chrysalis dragons x chrysalis dragons don't necessarily result in all 5 like with Snowflakes or Monoliths. You have to have a specific breeding pair to result in a specific dragon:
Anyway, no crazy banking tricks to be had with the pachinko game. For anyone who was wondering, you get kicked out right away when you go over the limit. Not sure about the egg game yet.
