Here's my struggle with how to choose which house: Considering that you get a free dragon from the house of your choice (which counts toward unlocking gold tier prizes), do I go with my heart, and pick the one I want the most, or do I take the efficiency approach, and choose the house that has the least number of prizes already unlocked?
So I entered all the NEW prizes into a spreadsheet that I've used for past events. Taking a rough guess of 3 weekends of double rings, 1 weekend of triple (triple is mentioned under the help this time), and the cost of all new items: 108,910 rings to get everything, and at 1000 per day we'll get around 80k. Given that 2 items are limited, I'm guessing we'll see more limited stuff to buy too.
We'll also earn above the 1000 per day with the daily gifts. If they use the same rules as the last event, you can only pull out 1k from your 'bank' per day at the end of the event. In the end, I'm guessing we'll get 95k or so from the bank, prizes, etc and be about 20k short, plus whatever else they add. I may look into making a purchase during a triple day!
EDIT: I updated the total to take into account getting a dragon and banner for free when joining. Also, if you can breed any of the dragons the totals needed will drop drastically too.
I mainly lurk here and have received lots of helpful tips. So I'd like to share one of my own...If you click on day 48 and day 60 in the Giveaway Gallery, you will see that DV plans on gifting more event dragons. This is something to take into consideration once you start crunching numbers.
Once we choose our House, are we locked into those prizes? Does anyone have any ideas, insight?
On Facebook, BackFlip replied to a question about getting all the dragons of all the houses - they said you would, just not for free (assuming that your chosen house dragon is given to you). I would think the same would go for the prizes as well.
For everyone agonizing over which house to represent, to be clear all prizes from all houses are available to everyone. Joining a house just gives you a dragon and banner for free so you can knock more off the totals from my post above. 108,910 is the new total. So if picking a house to unlock more in one area first is important to you, do that. If you like the other changes from picking a house or want a dragon first, do that - but don't worry that other prizes won't be open to you, you can buy from anywhere.
If I join Icy Torrent, will I be able to buy a prize from Iron Mountain list?
Yes, when you choose a house, all the levels open in the prizes for that house(bronze, silver, gold), but for all the other houses you can still purchase from them, but only the levels that are open. So you could buy one from Iron mountain, but only the bronze level, until you had enough prizes(5) from the Iron mountain list to open the silver level, etc. I hope that makes sense.

All houses are available - you are NOT locked down to the one you choose. However, as BFS says, it is no longer free - you have to spend event currency for the dragons and banners of the houses you didn't choose. On that basis, they are all equal currency wise...

I just got a Fates dragon from breeding. Bred Flower with Water, level 20 and 21. Took about 10 tries. All fails were really short. I haven't sped up the dragon yet, but 16 hours can't be anything else!
Also getting a bug with the dragon parade. Used my perch to speed up time, I have 16 rings in there now. Trying to collect, it won't let me and says I'm at max for the day. Only at 700, and I was able to get a few more from treats after.

I love the event, and am so glad it is kind of long, so there isnt so much pressure to max out every day. My one and only disappointment is that I was looking for some kind of opportunity to get the Faire dragon I missed last summer and in BeB, despite lots of breeding attempts... as it is impossible to epic clone, I hoped it could be among the prizes, or maybe one of the gifts, but no, it is not epic, gemstone, or one of the event house dragons, so it won't be gifted. No fair, Faire prize statues, but no Faire!
Freitag, I'm experiencing the same issue, no gamecenter friends at moment. Have tried turning phone off, logging in and out and so far no luck. Hope whatever it is it gets resolved quickly.
This happens to me occasionally. For me it's caused by slow traffic, either on the server side (which is probably what's happening today with so many people playing), on my Wi-Fi side (I have dead spots) or my device speed. When signing into the game, it seems that if things are going slowly the game skips over loading all the social info and continues to log in. Which is probably a good thing - I'd rather get to at least play some rather than failing to login at all due to a resource time out.
Here are things that help me - note that I play on android and log in through facebook:
1. Force a reload by logging out through the options menu and logging back in again through the options menu. Just logging in and out he regular way doesn't fix it for me.
2. Stopping/starting my Wi-Fi on my tablet. This is a quick fix that works frequently. Then sign back in
3. Turning my tablet/phone off/on.
4. I've been known to play while standing right next to my router when things are acting up.
The good news is that nothing's lost. The bad news is you need friends for co-op breeding so it can be hard to wait for it to just resolve itself.

Since I have two parks I get to do two different houses. I "think" I'm going to go for whichever house I have the least dragons/habitats/whatever to open the tiers, since whichever you choose will open all the tiers. In my android park I already chose Icy Torrent, but I'm still debating for my iOS park. Since we have 60 days, I'm guessing it won't matter as much which one you choose, cause that's a lot of time to open levels....
Do we know by precedent if any of the other prize dragons might become breedable? Like the aura dragons? I missed a few first time around as I just started and only got to play a week of the event. So I'd love to get a couple more.
How does the wishing well work? It looks like you just click "wish" and you get stuff. How does this work with what some of you have where you still have a wish left from last year?

You just throw in 1 DragonCash every day and sometimes you get stuff, but mostly nothing. If you zoom in on it, there's a progress bar with a number. That's how many players have thrown in a coin worldwide. Once it's full (I think it took 16.5 million DC or something last time?), everyone gets a wish and the Wishing Well itself.
There's actually 2 Wishing Wells in my park right now. The one I placed (does nothing), and the one on the event island.
