1) Your Rift must be aligned to Earth element to breed this. 2) Use Dark Rift + Alpenglow, or Light Rift + Voltaic. 3a) If you don't have Alpenglow/Voltaic, breed Dark/Light Rift with any other basic Rift dragon to get a Rift hybrid with a Dark/Light element. 3b) Breed the dragon you got in 3a with the other basic Light/Dark Rift dragon that you didn't use to get it.
Shouldn't this be
2a) Dark Rift+Alpenglow / Light Rift +Voltaic 2b) OR Dark/Light Rift + Basic Rift for a Rift hybrid with dark/light element?
Then 3) breed dragon in 2 a or b with the other basic Light/Dark Rift dragon?
In other words, I've got Voltaic. I'll breed Light Rift with Voltaic to get X dragon with light element, then breed X dragon with Dark Rift when the Rift is aligned to Earth?
Help me Obi-wan Arkynos. You're my only hope.
Sorry it took so long to get this, I've been out all day.
Breed anything with Dark Element with anything with Light Element while the Rift is Earth aligned. I'd suggest Dark Rift with Light Rift but they can't breed together so you need something else. If you have a Light/Dark house Rift that works (and people might have them around from the event, hence the suggestion) but if not you need to breed a hybrid of one of those first and then stick the hybrid in with the other.
Numbering system in that one may be a bit confusing. Sorry again.
Edit for clarity: So just Light Rift and Voltaic is fine. Ignore 3 if you have Voltaic/Alpenglow.

Just got a push notification that said " Changes are afoot, your next airship will require fewer Dragon treats"
Fewer is an understatement. For me, it went down from ~675,000 treats to 7,490. Although it also asked for 12,171,281 DC.
They also changed the rift habitats so the scrub tiers can hold a bit more. It's now 30, 65, 100, 135, and 200 etherium, with the highest 2 tiers unchanged.
An interesting -and much more reasonable- new Airship Quest:
At first, I thought that was amounts of food and almost choked... then noticed it's Coins.
Feeding costs went down today, too. Hallelujah! My level 13 Dark Rift was wanting 1.8 million per bite after the update (OUCH!), today he wants 500,000 per bite. Still a lot of food, but much, much better than before. Edit: Actually, is that the normal, non-rifty amount of food for a level 13? I'll have to go check...

Is there a way (besides pen and paper or spreadsheet) to keep track of all your new hybrids?
I looked in the Dragonarium and it only appears to show if your hybrid also has a full-on Rift element, like a Swamp Dragon that is Plant/Water/Rift, but not if you have one that is Dark-traited, or Air-traited... I think. Or, am I missing something?
I'm getting to the point where I need to start weeding out some unnecessary dragons with duplicate colors and traits (as in: do I really need both a rifty, dark-traited Swamp AND a rifty, dark-traited Seaweed?) With so many possible traits, sorting them looks like it's going to be a PITA.
Edit: Dang, all this rifty stuff is complicated to explain.
Once you find the Transformation Tower, you basically need to keep one Hybrid that can "Wear" traits of each type (So one Swamp and one Seaweed). THen use the Transformation to flip the hybrid between the unlocked traits (or spend Etherium to unlock a different trait) as needed for breeding purposes and/or your favorite look for each dragon.
Oh, and for the Transformation Tower to work, the hybrid needs to reside in the Rift. If it is in your main park, you will need to move it through the Rift first.
Thank you for this excellent info! I haven't done much cloud clearing yet, have been focusing on adding and upgrading habitats in order to increase the amount of ETH I've got coming in, but this makes me excited to find the T. Tower.

So question for everyone, how much Etherium are you getting for your Airships.
I get 11 for the food, 11 each for the 5.6M and 6.5M DC, 20 for the dragon and 77 when the Airship returns.
I've seen posts on the FB pages of people only getting 30 or 44 for the Airship.
I wonder what the parameters are for how much you get.
Have you been consistently providing for your Airship? The amount of etherium goes down if you miss an order, so I'm guessing that those people have just started providing for the Airship and haven't reached the max amount of etherium yet.

Thank you! I bred an extra dragon, but oh well. Tomorrow is Earth for me, so going to get my 4 breeds in in the morning and hope that I manage to get one! (No luck so far on anything else, so we'll see..)

I've also noticed that unfinished airships take longer to expire if you miss orders. For me, it's 6 hours. If I wait that out, the next one is 8 hours. I believe the maximum is 12 hours.
I think they want to encourage us to always fill the entire airship order. If we don't, the rewards become borderline worthless.

Wowie! Do you remember which dragons you were breeding? Attn: N/A!
🐨😊🐨
WildKatGhoul was that from a mystery egg or by breeding? I saw in Facebook that the twin rift howl we saw was likely from a mystery egg (at least I think it was the same person). I received a rift Blazing from my mystery egg and we know that the eggs are often twins so it would make sense that it could give you a twin rift as well. I have bred a couple duplicates now and none of them were twins... but if it's a 1/10 chance like the CBC, then that would still be better than nothing. I'd rather not have to buy mystery eggs, use wishes, or hope for event prizes to try to get about 100 twin rift dragons...

It was from a mystery egg. I like the mystery eggs, they're really cheap compared to everything else in the Rift. I've bought two so far and got a Paper, which I needed, and that one. I definitely think there should be another way of getting twins though, getting them all though eggs would be very frustrating.

Has anyone successfully bred an opposite dragon in the Rift yet? We've been assuming they're bred with say, Light Rift and a Dark hybrid in the Rift cave but I've been poking around in my friends' parks (some really cool variants you've got!) and I don't think I've seen one yet. Has anyone seen any in the wild, or confirmation they can be bred that way?
With Zaffer and Viririan both requiring them I imagine it's probably just that they're rare, but after telling everyone to breed for them like that the confirmation would be nice.
I'd just like to echo that again. Has anyone here, anyone at all, bred a single traited opposite dragon? I'm using all my attempts to try for opposites every day and it's not happening.
It wouldn't wholly surprise me if Backflip just bungled that and it's not actually possible to breed them.

After no response to that and a couple of hours poking around in other DragonVale places I sent an email to support to go directly to the source on this one. Will post the response when I get one.
While searching I did see that someone had got a Rifted opposite from a mystery egg, which if it's the intended method is possibly the most irritating solution possible.
