Skeeter. Find the reputable habitat with the cold dragon Go down to the square with the little puffs. Clear the big square behind the little puffs. Clear in a down diagonal left manner for two more squares (total of three) then turn left.

Yup! If you look at the last image in post 5 of this thread, it has the beginning Rift state labeled. The big square is labeled 2, then you follow 3,4,5 or stop if you find the shadow of a building. Based on where the building is (or if you don't find one doing this) you know where both buildings are hidden.
But again, my advice to everyone: more habitats = room for more dragons, more dragons = more etherium per hour, more etherium = more dragons, more/bigger habitats, easier clearing. You don't really need the buildings until you've got lots of dragons and you don't really need to clear more clouds unless you're out of room for habitats. Progress starts slow but more dragons really make the pace pick up. I'm at 60ish now and am doing the 1500 E breeds each day and upgrading my habitats to the 4 capacity ones as I need more slots. I think that's pretty decent, and it's only going to get faster from here.

Arkynos - thank you so much for the assistance! Yes I'm starting to realise I need more habitats and dragons fast (need to get my head around the new breeding for this area but will work way through pages in abit)

Now I am confused again. Which photo is correct, the top one (posted yesterday) or the bottom one?
The top photo indicates clearing clouds in a line directly below the Airship Dock, but the bottom photo shows the line as one slot/section to the left of the Airship Dock.

I believe the bottom one is correct.
If you go to page one of this thread there is a fantastic screenshot of a brand new rift, with arrows on it showing where to clear. That might help make things clearer in relation to the fixed rift gate. koala!

Althea post pics of lower left area and upper right so we can see edge. If you do coordinates. You should clear (2,10), (3,6), (3,5),(3,4) and (2,4). If nothing shows up then clear (2,11) and (2,12). Literally go to lower left corner. That's 1,1. Then count cloud puffs.
On second thought. I think you went one row to far. Clear the cloud just above where you are to the left of the habitat with the blight wing. Not the yellow circled one.

That's not my game, the top pic was posted yesterday by someone wondering why they had not yet uncovered any buildings/silhouettes. Sorry for any confusion.
I have been spending all my Etherium on jamming the main clearing full of habitats and upgrading them, and now I am almost out of free space. It's almost time to start clearing. Yikes!
My plan is to stop working on the habitats (and breeding) for a few days in order to save up enough Eth to bang it out all the way to the Hibernation Cave, so I want to be sure to be as precise as possible.
The one southern clearing I did last week is where the blue X is in the bottom pic. But, after looking at the top pic yesterday, it seemed as if I was over one row too far... But, then, after looking at the awesome diagram/overlay pic on Page 1 earlier (on the advice of Alice- Thank You!), I realized I am in the right spot. Yay! (Did I something about confusion? 😂 It has been a very looong day, today.)
Thanks, y'all.☺️

Just wondering if anyone has bred any of the 10 opposite dragons? (Bluefire, Frostfire, etc). No luck here. I am trying each day using the appropriate combos since the 'fails' are still usually dragons I want in the rift.

Yes, this issue of being able to breed the opposite dragons, or not, is becoming problematic. I have been trying for dodo, malachite, blue fire, and plasma in two parks, 5 or 6 breeds per day in each park, and nothing...I guess it is still early days yet, but I would have thought SOMEONE would have managed at least one by now...

Nope. Not even close

Not in the rift. I bred a Dodo in the Vale yesterday
Came back from my vacation and starting this rift thing. Oh my how confusing it is... Trying to poke around and get a handle. Could someone help me with some questions:
1) What's hidden behind those purple clouds? I read the 5th post about clearing them, and it seems to mention a storage tower and a hibernation cave. Is it all? If so, not going to bother clearing the clouds for a long while 2) I read on FB that the clouds will grow back. Is it true? I was hoping one day I will get a "cleaned up" rift. Hate the clouds and how crowded/disorganized my rift area is! 3) The swirls that gives E, do they appear/reset at certain point of day or are they completely random? 4) About breeding, I read on FB that the ORDER of the 2 parents you put in rift breeding cave matters. E.g., if you want X dragon you have to pick Earth rift dragon as first parent and Water rift at second, reversing the order won't work. Is it true? 5) Edit, one more question: If I breed, say Earth rift with Water rift, do I have a chance of getting either parent? I need the pedestals for almost all rift dragons.
Some other comment/rant: 1) The rift trait thing is so confusing. I don't want to breed basically the same dragon for 10 different traits! And why or why the breeding rule for the new dragons are so complicated! 2) Thanks for the picture guide of uncover hidden buildings! I know it's a lot of work to put that together, but frankly, I still don't understand... 3) So now BFS officially find a way to half-retire the old premium currency. I guess they figured everyone has too much gems? RIP my 7000+ saved gems

I don't know all the answers, but I will say that the rift was confusing to me at first. Now it seems very easy. Here's my take:
Get habitats. Load them with rift dragons from breeding / what you had from the summer event. Upgrade them once for 500 as soon as you can. Upgrade again for 1k when you need space. Breed once a day for 1e, or twice for 101 until you are generating enough to get the e needed to clear / buy and upgrade habitats / breed. Click on swirls when they appear (come back each reset) and fill up the air ships (now the cost is reasonable, it was horrid before and I skipped them).
Once you get into the habit of earning and spending e it's really quite easy.
The confusing part is the traits. I look at it like this: Instead of throwing away all those extra duplicates I have a chance for a new coloration based on trait. I don't have to keep the dragon with that trait, only hatch it and then later get rid of it if I want. This makes all those duplicates less annoying
Others will give specific answers to the clouds growing back, what is breedable, how to clear the clouds logically (you wont care about changing traits at the tower or storing dragons in the hibernation cave, so that part isn't as urgent as clearing to get habitats).
iOS GCID EuroKnuter Friends ALWAYS welcome, but I'm full for GT buddies =) Rockin' an ElektronX Jet Icon!

1) There's a hibernation cave and and the transfiguration tower. It lets you swap the elemental traits that a dragon has between all of the traits you've bred that dragon type with before. Both moderately useful, but not vital.
2) I've seen no evidence of this actually happening. Reports of this have unfailingly been people clearing big Rift clouds around an area with small clouds, not noticing the small clouds until later, and assuming the Rift must grow back when they see them. Like me, last week. 🙄
3) You get a new stock of swirlies at the daily reset time, when gem giving/the dragon track etc all restock. Missed swirlies will reappear until you've got them all, then no more will appear until the next reset.
4) This is a pervasive myth from the beginning of DragonVale. Dragon order has always been completely irrelevant to breeding result and this remains so in the Rift. Any reports to the contrary are down to confirmation bias.
5) I'm pretty sure you can. I'm not certain but I think I've seen it happen first hand, and I recall someone posting something to that effect on an earlier page as well. Provides you can, then hybrids are the more common result.
Thanks for both of you! It does make things clearer. I just hope BFS could introduce these new features little by little, instead of throwing everything at us altogether. Also some things are not better explained. For example, I didn't realize the "Market" icon offers different things in rift and you can buy habitat directly Because during the tutorial, you clean a piece of mist and then a habitat was revealed, I thought that's how it works: You clear mists and if you hit a lucky spot you get new habitats. Sort of makes sense, given how many mists there are, also it's exactly how it works in another game I play. So I wasted all my E on clearing mists (got nothing), and obviously don't have enough space to migrate all my rift dragons now
Still not happy about only getting to breed twice a day (unless I want to burn my E of course). My large stock of gems are useless now, and co-op is not going to help either. Well, guess my Dragonarium won't breath fire again for a long while... Certainly hope they don't release limited rift dragons!

Hi yingying and welcome to the Utterly Rifted club ( the Rift version of the Whine and Cheese club of the Vale 😆) the decision to only breed the cheap first few (don't forget to release not sell, unwanted results, refunds most of your E and keeps the trait available for later) and so have limited breeds per day is offset by 'instant' hatching;
your gems ARE useful; the races now give E prizes, and quests also I've heard, and you can use your gems to open E chests 😊
Koala!!
