Oh I didnt inow that if you bread a dragon with a trait your u do not already have but already have such a dragon with a different trait, yu can just release it and the trait will automatically be added to the first born ... great, will save me Ethernum cose I thought I had to hatsch it in order to keep the trait. Thanks for the infon🙂
Came back from my vacation and starting this rift thing. Oh my how confusing it is... Trying to poke around and get a handle. Could someone help me with some questions:
5) Edit, one more question: If I breed, say Earth rift with Water rift, do I have a chance of getting either parent? I need the pedestals for almost all rift dragons.
5) I'm pretty sure you can. I'm not certain but I think I've seen it happen first hand, and I recall someone posting something to that effect on an earlier page as well. Provides you can, then hybrids are the more common result.
I have bred two more Earth Rift Dragons doing this. (Trying to get a Dodo) It definitely can happen but does not happen frequently. I get Blazings (even repeat Traits, sigh), etc. much more often.

Well on page 4 sbf said hatch first, then sell ( only DC after hatching first, E if release without hatching) to keep the trait, then it seemed to matter that you had a trait on another dragon... And I've read more recently that release keeps trait avail thru tower, but selling doesn't....So now I'm re-reading all this thread to see where the knowledge has got to.....and will try to summarise in dot point list 🤓 On OP

Thanks for both of you! It does make things clearer. I just hope BFS could introduce these new features little by little, instead of throwing everything at us altogether. Also some things are not better explained. For example, I didn't realize the "Market" icon offers different things in rift and you can buy habitat directly Because during the tutorial, you clean a piece of mist and then a habitat was revealed, I thought that's how it works: You clear mists and if you hit a lucky spot you get new habitats. Sort of makes sense, given how many mists there are, also it's exactly how it works in another game I play. So I wasted all my E on clearing mists (got nothing), and obviously don't have enough space to migrate all my rift dragons now
Still not happy about only getting to breed twice a day (unless I want to burn my E of course). My large stock of gems are useless now, and co-op is not going to help either. Well, guess my Dragonarium won't breath fire again for a long while... Certainly hope they don't release limited rift dragons!
I, too, cleared too much mist at the beginning. But I've recovered now and am doing okay with a good mix of rift dragons brought over and some left in the Vale for leveling up with Bahamut, Tiamat, etc.
Gems are not useless -- you can still use them in the Vale just like you always could before. You just can't do much in the Rift with them. But once you get habitats, etc you'll find you are getting a LOT of E. I have even been willing to spend 1500E for a breed a couple of times, just barely a week after the Rift opened. So generally I am breeding much more in the Rift than I do in the Vale's two general Caves.

Traits and hatching vs releasing or selling: slightly edited posts in order from earliest date to most recent date, authors cited, with thanks!
Initial thinking was: *you need to hatch for the trait to be active.sbf *Hatching then selling a dragon keeps that trait unlocked, selling/releasing them from the hatch menu does not. Arkynos
Understanding developed to: *previously thought releasing a dragon with a new trait before hatching didn't unlock the trait, BUT IT DOES. There seems to be a delay, or a need to close and re-load, for the trait to be listed as unlocked for that dragon, in the dragonarium. meadowphoenix *can also confirm the correction meadowphoenix made to my correction of the releasing thing: I got the Air Smoke, kept it. Got a Lightning Smoke after that, released it. The Dragonarium showed Lightning trait unlocked not immediately, but after I restarted the app. It is completely bewildering, what's happening there.Arkynos *I just tried this again today. I have now released two dragons with traits (one today) and the traits showed up on the "Available" list in the Transformation tower when I logged in later.vonfirmath *Think it also unlocks the trait if you make it into a pedestal as I have flower egg but not rifted dragon, and have fire trait.scispider

Traits and Transfiguration Tower:
*Use the Transfiguration Tower to change the trait of a Rift element dragon to any trait that you have unlocked. What is unlocked for each breed of dragon can be viewed in that dragon's Dragonarium page. Arkynos *Each dragon can only have and contribute /wear 1 trait at a time. rion *you can use the tower to change the trait to any you've bred variants of, because they count as unlocked. Arkynos *unlocking of traits needs to be done for every available trait on every available dragon (that can have multiple traits). However, if you need a trait you have not unlocked yet, you can also use the Transfiguration Tower to purchase that trait for that dragon (possibly unlocking it for future use for free)vonfirmath *Once you breed a dragon with a particular accessory/trait, you can sell the dragon that was born with the accessory, but the item is still in the closet for other dragons of the same type to wear. You use the Transfiguration Tower to "change outfits."journeywoman *For the Transfiguration Tower to work, the hybrid needs to reside in the Rift. If it is in your main park, you will need to move it through the Rift first.vonfirmath

I went a bit silly buying Rift habitats :-) I stopped at #20 (5000 E). FYI #21 is 7000 E.
Then, having 2100 E left, and suddenly realising my rift was aligned to Earth, and realising Earth alignment is a prerequisite for Antumbra, and realising I had already used up all my lower E breeding opportunities today (including both 1500 E ones), I said "stuff it" in my best Aussie accent, chucked a Dark Rift + Alpenglow in to breed, and got an Antumbra!
Platform : ios GCID : onejoebloggs I love the Double Leap Year dragon
So I got my reply from Backflip: Looks like the method for getting Rift Opposites is as we expected. Whether or not it's actually working as intended, well that's another matter entirely.

Snapper gave me a 0 today. I opted for 3.5 million dragoncash. Do we need to screenshot? Is this a bug?

Maybe it's only for those hybrids that we can't breed as Rifts?

Hopefully they fixed opposite breeding before getting back to you. That way, their reply is technically truthful. I can understand that the support guys wouldn't want to write "oops, we left it broken for 2 weeks and everyone wasted their time trying to breed them".
If it was possible before, there's just no way that not a single person on this forum, reddit, and various Facebook groups successfully bred any of them.

Opposites were always harder to breed than the others.

They've never been the easiest to breed, no, but not so rare that there would be no evidence of anyone having bred one. Other rare dragons are confirmed to be able to be bred there. I've gotten two Dream dragons while breeding for Antumbra/Ghast and their pedestals. People have bred Ironwrought in the Rift. Heck, I've even seen a screenshot of someone having bred a Gemstone in there. But no opposites at all. The odds on that happening by chance are astronomical, especially considering they're needed for Viridian and Zaffer so they're going to be being specifically targeted by lots of people. Statistically, just like it can take me over a month to breed Blue Fire the first time, there's also going to be that one lucky person who gets the rare dragon on the first attempt. And they're going to want to post about it.

Did you release it from the Rift BReeding Cave or from a Rift Habitat.
It only gives Etherium when released from the breeding cave directly.
Now that I have several duplicate dragons with different traits, am I right in thinking I can sell the duplicates and just retain one of each dragon who will gather all possible traits from any newly bred ones?

They will only "Wear" one of those traits at a time. But you can use the Transfiguration Tower to change which trait they are wearing at the moment -- with their choices being from all the traits you have unlocked for that dragon.

So I can safely sell the duplicates and just change hats and gloves in the transfiguration tower?

Yes, you can. As long as you keep only one of the new bred ones with the rift element in your rift dimension. You can't do that to a dragon without the rift element in your original park.
