With the creation of the Towering Treat Garden, the wizards have discovered the ability to discover new crops at farms. Sometimes, when two or more Towering Treat Gardens are next to each other, their special magics allow treats to combine into new treats! If you can find the witch Gardenia in your park, she might have some clues!
Towering Treat Farms offer the ability to grow some all-new crop types! If your park is level 35 or above, you can also purchase Towering Treat Farms from the "Buildings" section of the Market to permanently add them to your park. Existing Treat Farms can be upgraded to Towering Treat Farms.
Cross Pollination Sometimes, when two or more Towering Treat Farms are next to each other, their special magics allow Treats to combine into entirely new Treat types. To unlock these new Treat types, experiment with growing different types of Treats next to each other in adjacent Towering Treat Farms and see what you can discover! If you find Gardenia in your park she may be able to give you some hints. Once a new Treat has been discovered through cross-pollination it will be permanently available for you to grow in Towering Treat Farms.
A LORD OF THE VALE (and minions): How to unlock new food plants and NB you need to use the individual replant button, not replant all button, until you've been told you've unlocked the new treats you want
AMAZING TIP FROM amos ! A tip if you are upgrading your farms for the 25 gems is to sell them for the dragoncash, then pay the 25 gems from the market. I made 2.5 million on a couple grand farms this way.
UNLOCKING NEW TREATS Grow the following combinations in directly ajoining Treat Farms: (side touching side, not tip to tip) NUBBLEBERRY = Zazzberry + Omega Squash CUBETUBER = Pumpermelon + Dragon Root STARPODS - Upgrade at least one Treat Farm to a Towering Treat Garden
And DO NOT use replant button until unlocked, replant each farm in alternating crops, it will take several repeats
Gift from Quil : Here are the numbers I came up with. Someone should double check my math:
Star Pods - 50 cost per treat, 208.3k treats per hour, 2 day Nubbleberry - 45 cost per treat, 500k treats per hour, 2 hours Firey Figs - 25 cost per treat, 1,000k treats per hour, 2 hours Cubetuber - 48 cost per treat, 62.5k treats per hour, 4 hours Talontaters - 25 cost per treat, 200k treats per hour, 2 hours Jelly Plant - 8.33 cost per treat, 12k treats per hour, 1 hour Ro's Dragon Fruit Cake - 8 cost per treat, 3k treats per hour, 1 min
Based on the above, Firey Figs remains the best in terms of treats per hour. Cost per treat, Star Pods (50) wins but takes a crazy 2 days to make. Slightly behind, Cubetubers at 48 and 4 hours to make. Firey Figs just behind at 45 per treat.
Overall, Firey Figs remains by far the best choice to use.
Update from Lamonster : Your numbers are solid but your logic is flawed
Star Pods LOSE because we want a low cost per treat. Star Pods are basically a joke. However, Nubbleberries beat out Beanstalks as the preferred year-long treat to grow for high-level players. And yes, during the Om of Noms, Fiery Figs are absolutely still king. Thanks for your work!

Came here looking for information from the number-crunchers on the efficiency of the new treats. Which treat should high-level players be growing for maximum time/cash efficiency?
Thanks in advance, you guys rock.

Oh, also it seems that we no longer need to bank event currency this time - the event runs through the 29th and leftover currency turns to cash on the 30th.

I think we need to unlock the 3 newest treat types first. The hint I received from Gardenia today was for the Cubetubers (grow pumpermelons next to each other or "cube" them, 3? of each maybe?). Also saw we should grow zazzberries and omega squash next to each other for Nubble berries. And I think we will need to grow Nubbleberries next to zazzberries to unlock the final treat (can't remember the name atm).

Where exactly did you find a 'hint'? Not seen that yet or I missed it!
I was more asking - how did you find a hint? Looking at that post, it appears that if you find her she'll give you a hint? If that's the case, I'll go searching on my baby parks in a little while and post!
DragonVale Update for Amazon/Kindle Users We're currently working to fix a technical error that's keeping us from updating our Amazon version of the game. Unfortunately, this means that the Om of Noms event will be starting a little bit later for some of our players. We apologize for this inconvenience and will automatically compensate affected players for the missed time. Thanks for your patience while we continue to work on this.

It also seems to have unlocked Star Pods on all four of my accounts (which all have a unique Game Center ID but are linked by the same Facebook account). For what it's worth...
