Just bred Seraph in the rift with level 18 Light Rift and level 18 Blightwing, second try. I don't think I've ever had such luck before. Kind of in shock...but in a good way!
I noticed that the treat towers produce a particle effect when they link up, so I did some testing. For two towers to be considered linked for cross-pollination, they have to be literally touching. Just being very close to each other doesn't count - there has to be 0 space between them.
It also counts when just the very edges are touching, like this:
Of course, the 2 large towers on the event island are also linked to each other.

Breeding shimmer+garden in the rift (water/light+plant/earth) for a catch-all to hopefully get a feast or harvest. No luck so far.
No luck unlocking the new treat types, either. Any tips?
That might work, but beware, since you are adding many elements at a time then you will probably be getting rainbow and double rainbows. Probably better to keep it simple in the Rift. Well, unless you don`t mind getting rainbows.

Wow, you can actually buy some of the event prizes with DragonCash. You should get on that before they fix it.
The Stocking Beans, Twilight Vines, and Giant Seed Model can be bought from the market or Dragonarium (Seasonal section). Just unlocked the last tier with that.
Well, it might be intentional, but the Berry Patch is not available this way, even though Berry itself is.
Thanks for posting this, Cyn! As a Kindle user, I haven't been able to update yet, and hadn't thought to check with BFS. I thought I was doing something wrong. I just need to be patient, and read up here on what I'm missing, and gaze longingly from the wrong side of the playground fence... Sigh.

It was kind of a bizarre choice to make them event prizes in the first place, seeing as they've always been available to buy with DC when the affiliated dragon has been breeding. Making the dragons event prizes, that's fine, there's chance involved in breeding them. But the decorations? They've previously been near-zero effort to obtain if you were playing at the right time. They're not worth the spice and only serve to block off the later tiers.
Rant over now, I got a Light Feast and two Water Harvests in my first set of Rift breeds (Water River + Light Meadow) which I presume means I'm hoarding all the luck and it will take everyone else the full span of the event to get them. The Feast dragon hasn't been activated for etherium earning yet either. Probably best to stash them in the Rift Hibernation Cave if you've dug it out, at least until that's fixed...

I think the reason it's not so hard to max out despite some of the absent elements this time is because you get 10 spice for food when it triggers, and 25 for Ma Goody's Greenhouse. I'll admit to feeling more than a bit of Event Fatigue when it became apparent that the Om of Noms wasn't just going to be the usual food frenzy and we'd instead have to earn event currency and the whole nine yards. Still, if there's no mini games and it's easy to max mainly by growing the food and doing the breeding we'd be doing anyway, that's not so bad.

I didn't even get the Unlocked Cubetubers message. It doesn't even unlock either, but I can still regrow them.
Yeah, it seems that if you use the regrow all option, the cross-breeds don't properly unlock. I had to unlock the nubs a second time, but now they work. Just have to replant everything one by one until you get the popup, I guess.

I don’t really understand this unlocking of food either. I’ve done pumpermelons and roots in 6 of the new upgraded treat farms all clustered together, not seen any special unlock message. Hurried several too just to test it. Since the roots finish rather quickly, can you just leave a couple pumpermelons going and get it while replanting the roots?
So I grew two pumpermelon next to 2 dragon roots. One of the dragon roots got a 4 hour timer, which matches these cubetubers. Except I didn't get a message about unlocking, and it's not open on my other treat farms. Does the message show up after you hatch, or at the time of planting?
