1. Forum Membership. Many Forum members prefer friending other members so they can communicate with each other through messages. It allows them to thank a player for a twin, let the player know they bred a twin with their dragon, ask for a dragon in the co-op, coordinate during Twin Weekend, etc. Please consider becoming a member. It is remarkably easy. Just click Register in the top right corner of the Forum (under the banner image) and provide a username and email. You’ll receive an email confirmation, and that’s it — you’re a member! Membership has lots of perks: personalise your profile, access to the Spoiler Lounge to chat and learn about spoilers, The Spoiler Contest, awards for rating the dragons (Rate a Dragon), contests and scavenger hunts, change the Forum’s theme, bookmark threads, notifications, vote in polls, prizes for your profile, and of course messages.
2. Personalised Friend ID. It’s difficult to tell players apart when their Friend ID is 'DragonVale#_______'. As a result, some players prefer friending players with a unique ID. You can change your Friend ID in the game by clicking on Social > Invite Friends > Change Friend ID. Type an original name (or your Forum username), and press the Change button. The game will automatically add four digits to complete your ID.
HOW TO ADD FRIENDS
In the game at the bottom of the screen, tap Social > Invite Friends > Add Friend. Enter the Friend ID (name and ID number), then tap the Add button.
Once you add someone, you’ll need to notify them so they can add you back. Please use this thread or message the player. Unfortunately, there is no in-game notification to inform a player that someone has sent a friend request/added them in the game. After both parties have added each other, they will be DV friends and show in their Friends list.
Purple names are links: if you're reading this on the device you play DragonVale on, click to add that person automatically! Find yours under Social > Invite Friends > Share Link, then paste into a reply to this thread.
PSA: There is now an in-game friending system! Yes, that’s right, no more lousy Facebook.
Click on Social > Invite Friends > Add Friend You will need to know a player’s Friend ID # to add them. (When you click on Invite Friend, it will show your Friend ID #. You can also change your Friend ID # and your Icon from this screen.)

Very interesting. All my devices' platforms have always been android so I never had a different option, it's always been facebook or nothing. But it seems that this option is open to everyone. An equalizer that is not FB. Definitely worth a try. #49045

There could be a new thread for the Friend ID feature. Or the 'Gem Exchange - Apple Platform' thread could be updated for this purpose. I imagine there are now many more players looking for gem/food partners.

You need to list your DV Park ID ( the name that shows when you open the friend dialogue box, not your forum call sign, just to be clear) and number #....

Thank you for the add! To answer your prior question, I have successfully added someone. Since it’s so new, the process understandably needs a little tweaking. When someone adds you, you unfortunately don’t get a notification that they’ve send a friend request. They have to tell you outside of the game so you’ll know to add them. When you add them, they’ll get a push notification indicating that you’re now their friend. You won’t get a notification, but you’ll see their name in your Friends list. If you’ve sent each other gems/treats, you may have to close and reopen the game for it to show in the Gifts menu. So for me to add you, so we can be DV friends, I’ll need your Friend ID so I can add you back. 🤪

So we're going to clearly need a new system here for adding friends. While my gems are pretty much spoken for these days, I'd love to add as many people from the community as possible just for co-op breeding and checking out other parks.

That does remind me, I highly recommend that players change their friend name. We're all allowed one free name change, after that it will cost gems. If you don't change your name, your friends will see you as 'Dragonvale#<number>' and likely won't remember who you are in 6 months if they have 10+ names on the list with that name. Perhaps change the name to match your forum name, or in game park name, something that will allow us to identify each other down the road.
You can also change your icon, and friends will see your new icon too!

I can change my friend name, but it only gives me several possibilities to choose from: Lumi,Kai, Gardenia.... I can't choose a free name I changed the icon to sesonal baby dragon, so this looks a bit like my forum icon
