Well, this is it. Every winner of the POTMs for 2018. So, who's post was the funniest?
With the new year, comes a new installment of POTM - POTY. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a month to vote. So at the end of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners. At the end of the year, all the funny posts are reviewed, and the winnner of each month gets 1 poll option in the collective POTY poll. Here, you can only select one post from the year to win.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit. - Have a laugh.
Help. I'm trying for a Rift Gourd since after getting a Rift Panlong. I kept getting useless hybrids bar that one traited Snapper. I'm whining hard right now. Chanting give me some Thanksgiving spirit right now! I hunger for Rift Gourd, Plumpkin and Bountiful!
My whine semi-worked. I got Gourd and Plumpkin in the Rift, but they don't have a trait! I almost ragequitted because of that.
Ok so my decorous second-only genteel whine resulted in NADA! So here's a full blown grumble-whinge: puhleeeeeze witches and wizards of Vale and Rift; just one, just one of the current limiteds: most hopefully a Celtic, but ANYTHING will be so gratefully received: 6 months of sulphur dragon hab cleaning, strewing the floors with fragrant rushes and wild herbs, new supplies of 'the water 'o life' shall magically appear in all quaffing goblets, and little crispy nibbly things shall be supplied in HUUUGE amounts for a week How's that then? ( ye greedy wee skuggans so y'are) ahem, smile, bow, curtesy, pull forelock and grovel backwards leaving the august personages assembly 🌹🌻🌿🍉🍌🍒🍇🍯🍗🍟🧀🌮🍢🍡🍮🍧🍻🍻🍻🍾🍸🍸🍷🍷🍹🍹🍼😈
POTM....the struck out portion still has me in giggles 😂😂
I must say that overall, I've been less than thrilled with this event. Missing the Rosebud dragon (admittedly my own mistake, resultant of my ill-advised attempts at breeding in the event cave, as the price of the dragon indicated at that point it would be impossible to obtain without purchasing extra beans, otherwise) is just kind of a soggy blanket on top of the picnic basket, so to speak. As for the ants in the basket, I know it's never guaranteed to be able to breed dragons or get lucky with other aspects like the golden chests or eggs, but I had colossally bad luck! In recent events, once in a while I'd be able to clone a dragon off of someone else (took lots of gem-rushing, of course), but no such luck this time. I've also had astoundingly bad luck in the rift, where I missed being able to breed essentially all of those epics. Ended up buying at least the Monoliths and an Ovalith from mystery eggs, so it's not as bad as it could be, but it's discouraging to breed and breed with no turnover. I used that handy trick that I think SteelBluminatiConfirmed had mentioned, popping the cubes down all over my islands to be able to hunt for eggs more easily, and that aspect did amuse me, as I couldn't be bothered to buy any more cubes upon observing that I seemed to have one unlocked, which was incidentally the tasteless heart ones...what an overload of gaudy little froggy blood-pumpers that was, carpeting my entire park! Anyhow, I also tried the other suggested probability-increasing trick of tapping the golden egg first before anything else, but only before I started trying that did I receive an egg--a random monolith twin (and twins don't interest me; I sold roughly a legion of twins throughout my time playing because I didn't like them, and now that we seem to need them to ever be gifted rift eggs, that irks me somewhat...wish I could just skip them and get the rifted versions instead of having to get all 3). Anyhow, after that one dragon-filled golden egg, nada! I only saw a golden chest in the mini games three times in the entirety of this event, and naturally it waggled its rascally behind at me and waddled off at light speed.
Don't like the new direction BFS seems to have gone lately in with the lesser gem prizes, either. Until I joined this forum a few months ago, I had only had one friend in the game...my sister, who I'd started playing it with, I think not long after it was released for Android. She quit because her luck was so painfully bad she rarely ever got any epic dragons and missed nearly every limited dragon. Yep, worse than my luck, poor dear. Anyhow, due to playing for a long time with no in-game friends, I never built up a massive gem stash unlike some players, so I thrived off of those 'freebie gems for breeding this dragon', and then when they were introduced, the gems from games within events. I stopped playing for a time during that first light/dark rift event, because I didn't like some of the changes at the time, but then I crept back a few months later and had to catch up on a few things...When they introduced the rift, I thought I might skedaddle as I wasn't keen on the changes, but gave it a chance, and it's still not something I like, per se, but it's now at least a familiar aspect of the game. However, some of the little changes like being less generous in some of the prizes and possibly breeding probabilities, certain prizes like the pedestals costing more, and that scare--which I cynically perceive as a test to see how we'd react--with the Rosebud dragon being initially impossible for us... I am beginning to suspect they may have hired a Ferengi as a financial consultant, but if so, I'd like to remind him of Rule of Acquisition #57, regarding the current loyal population of players for this game: Good customers are as rare as latinum. Treasure them.
Also, side note, but in the last two events featuring it, has anyone else noticed that the dragon drop game seems to have increased in...bounciness? It used to be almost embarrassingly easy to predict where the ball would land, and I'd rarely miss what I wanted. But now, I calculate for a delay, and the ball ricochets around like a wasp on heroin and takes roughly five years to land anywhere. Is that just my perception, or have they perhaps changed their physics parameters for the game?
Anyway, I guess the above qualifies as a gargantuan nonspecific whine (apologies for lengthiness), and it's been a while in building, so I guess it's also an aged wine. Fancy. If anyone feels like sharing in it, plenty to go around. Drink up, me hearties! I'm standing on the edge, thinking it's not worth my time if it's not the same, carefree, enjoyable game that I used to love...sad to quit after playing for years, but if things keep going like they've been going...(trail off dramatically for effect... ...)
Oh I love this! What a fabulous aged whant/raine (rant/whine, it won't make a nice cross breed word for me dang) Zekky, superb summary bouquet, with after notes of irritation, good legs, excellent Ferengi nose, and eggceptional chocolate wallop! Went well with Camembert on walnut and pistachio crackers 😈 POTM!
No success at all. I have been trying for weeks to breed an arbor and before it became available, a shield. Apparently it can still be done and quite easily by some. But I'm in the same boat as you. Koala for your future endeavors.
On a different subject but using the previous paragraph as a sort of segue, one issue for me is that although I understand intellectually that every breeding attempt is a brand new try and it matters not one whit if you've tried one time or a hundred times there is no record kept of how many attempts with a particular pair one has made and therefore no advantage to staying with the same pair and not changing it up, I have a hard time accepting it on a feelings level. Consequently I end up committed to breeding the same pair for a very long time. Another issue for me is writing over long sentences.
We recently emerged from the forest into the Savannah types have a struggle to relinquish the idea of magic and mystery indeed, (dang I was trying for a really long sentence in solidarity and have already run out of puff), (unless, of course, using parentheses and rambling on recursively about the non topic in an effort to extend the length of the sentence in solidarity can be counted), (in the aforementioned attempt, that is), well, here's hoping 😆 although in my case I switch between your tactics and the opposite; 'if after 5 rolls it hasn't worked, the RNG is obviously stuck in a groove and the breeding pair needs changing up', which is then often followed by; 'do a one trial change to rest and reset the RNG'. I'm out. 😈
Is anyone else seeing the “Come one, Come all,” on the loading screen. Not another event so soon. And seriously, do we really need 12 of the same dragon? This is as bad as my husbands comic book collection, same story just 25 different covers. They call them variant covers. Seriously! Does someone at DV collect comics and decided this was a good idea for the dragons?
POTM nomination for best explanation of this over abundance so far 😂😂😂
Thank goodness! Seeing my entire park like that gave me just the inspiration I needed to start a complete redo of my park. Don’t look yet as it is a mess with much to do.
Kiwichris , Since I know you are going to peek anyway, the three Islands to the far left of my park have turned into the Land of Oz. Dorothy’s farmhouse caught up in a big wind and dropped into the Munchkin Monoliths. She follows the Yellow Brick Road, picks up the Scarecrow, Tinman (Bone), and Lion (Permafrost) and along with Toto (mini Mountain) then wanders into the Spooky Forest. Ends up at the Wicked Witch’s abode complete with Flying Monkeys (okay, bats). The hourglass is running out but they make their escape only to encounter: Poppies, poppies, poppies. Finds the Yellow Brick Road again and makes it to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard (graciously played by mini Pharaoh), misses boarding the Balloon but ends up Over The Rainbow Habitats. I think that about does it for those three Islands. Currently working on Hogwarts, pardon my dust. Who needs sleep anyway?
O.M.GOODNESS GRACIOUS! Brilliant 😯 and 😅😅😅 go you! Taking themes to the NEXT LEVEL and btw POTM nomnom
Okay, I know there are some math people out there who will enjoy a story problem: if it costs 1,000 rings to get a 5% cash bonus, and it costs 10,000 rings to start getting a 5.5% cash bonus, how many times will the 5.5% bonus have to be deployed to cover the bonus amount lost by saving up and spending the 10,000 rings on leveling up instead of just collecting and getting the 5% bonus 10 times? (imposing the artificial constraint that the total collection value the bonus is based on remains constant, that is, the park's earning value remains constant).
It won’t let me put a picture but I CANNOT BELIEVE MY LUCK I JUST GOT A SOLAR ECLIPSE DRAGON FROM A FLAG PERSON
POTM because: new Valer, new forumer, and just WONDERFUL to be reminded of the positives that can happen in this game we love (and love to grumble and grinch about 😈) yaay for aquathedragon 🐨🐨🐨🌴🌴
I like Chitin better than Cave as while they are both un-pretty and weird-insecty, Cave manages to look exceptionally goofy at the same time. Chitin at least has the whole "I am dangerous, spiky, and definitely toxic; don't mess with me" cool-tough look going on. Cave looks like it woke up, saw itself in a mirror and hasn't stopped screaming since. #relatable, I guess? :/
Chitin reminds me A LOT of the Venipede evolution line from Pokémon.. The Adult Chitin looks like Scolipede; the Baby Chitin looks like Venipede except curled like Whirlipede. That might be why I like it, actually...
POTM for the top part!!! Made me lol 😂
and i I guess I’m not the only Pokémon addict around here
Aw Jenny, it's Berry day apparently. I have been trying to breed a Berry in the rift since Aubergine became available with no success. I tried again this morning and had success and even got a second so that I can evolve one and keep one. I promptly bought the jelly roll planter...jelly roll plants are already to go, hit evolve and....poo, it's not raining. I only have the Twilight tower, so can't make it rain. Anyway, so now I sit and stalk rain. Stalking. I am reduced to stalking rain.
I am finding it hilarious that an abundance of coals are showing up for me in my park and only one gift so far... I’ve been good this year. Really. 😈
POTM...
Dear Santa, I can attest to the fact that amos has been good... really, really good! So please bring amos some Gifts or at least some 🐨s! me 😇
EDIT: Santa, you may remember me from this exchange when I was 4 years old... Santa: Have you been good? Me: No, I just haven’t been caught.
