With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On the 1st of next month (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favorite thread. You'll have about a month to vote. So at the end of next month we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The mods will pay the winners.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit. - Have a laugh.
OK, I decided not to buy the effigies and to leave the Ghostlies aside.
I am no more a completionist. If I have a twin of a dragon type it's OK, if not it's OK too.
I used to aim to have 2 of every dragon type. But now there is the Rift. I understand that it is useful to have a rifted one of every dragon type but is there any reason to have two rifted versions of a dragon type ? the only thing I can think of is that the dragon then can be cloned quicker. But why should I clone a dragon ? when I use the second rift dragon for the pedestal, I would only need more of this dragon if it is to be evolved.
so 2 normal and 1 rift of every dragon type.
What do I do if I have two rifted and no normal ? Is that enough and where to put the 2nd dragon, in the park or in the rift ?
How do you all handle this ?
What makes you think we’re handling it?! the Utterly Rifted Club, much Whine, cheese, single malts (pref from Islay), cookies....THATS how we’re not handling it all 😂🤣😈
Pot(Last)M for "What makes you think we’re handling it?!"
Any gems need to be given to those who need them - I declare myself unable to receive PotM (or even PotLM) gems henceforth =D
I’m not a musician either, but the musical alphabet stops at G and starts over. Also I doubt it would be a high note, as the notes in its breath are towards the bottom (from what I’ve seen) which signifies a low note. (Credit to my amazingly awesome music teacher)
OK, so I've finally been coaxed out of lurker mode and am going submit my first post!
I am a musician (a jazz musician at that!), so I can speak to this. The notes that you refer to as upside-down are higher notes, though not necessarily really high. Generally speaking, notes that are above the middle line of the staff (the five lines you usually see music written on) are upside-down, whereas notes below that are upright. The note on the middle line of the treble clef staff (the most common staff) is a B above middle C. It is a different note on different staves. On the bass clef staff, which is the second most common, it is a D below middle C. So again, it doesn't really speak to the absolute highness of the note, but it's more of an aesthetic thing to fit the music efficiently on the page.
All that being said, since the notes in Libretto's breath are not on a staff, it is unusual to have them upside-down, but perfectly acceptable. So in this case, it basically tells you nothing at all!
While I'm at it, thanks to all of you here for your DV tips and musings. They have been invaluable for getting through the now endless stream of events!
And what's the deal with the koalas? 😉
Perfect explanation (musician here too . However, for a first post this is one of the best I've ever seen!
PoTM!!
P.S. - Try to type out g o o d l u c k (I think that's the one) and you'll understand
“Lazy” says it all. Since BFS axed the best of its creative team, this is the future of dragon creation. What is next? Mummy versions of each dragon in which every dragon is rereleased wrapped in gauze? Or maybe Zombie versions that you can’t get rid of which end the game because you can’t sell them off or store them? So disappointed!
Now look, we’ve spoken about this before Cyn , you can think such thoughts quietly to yourself while running a loud tap and sitting in a cupboard wrapped in an eiderdown, with a tinfoil hat on, but you are under no circumstances to indiscriminately ‘let rip’ as t’were, in public where such stray thoughts expressed may sleet through the web waves and lodge in the tiny wee peas serving the function of little grey cells for the new overlords who shall not be named.....😈
This is the way the game ends, not with a bang with a whimper (apologies to Mr. Eliot) and I feel as though I've been whimpering for awhile now so perhaps the end is very near.
Or perhaps old Dragonvale players don't quit exactly, they just fade away. That's what it feels more like, a gradual withdrawal. There is a marked displeasure and dissatisfaction juxtaposed with nostalgic feelings of joy and a desire to hold on to that, regardless of the current dragonvale penchant for disappointment. Also there's been quite a time investment, I am reluctant to walk away from that. So I guess quitting will be something that will evolve over time as my heart is broken a little more each event until my love for this game finally dies (dramatic much). Seriously though, I've discovered that for me, quitting this game is a process. Plus there is hope that things can always change.
Ah, I can handle the despair, it's the hope that's killing me. (paraphrased from "Clockwise" a line by John Cleese)
POTM for this eloquent and accurate description, it beautifully reflects my feelings towards this direction DragonVale has taken.
But if I ever do get a second chromacorn and then manage a couple of more (I hear that is easier to do once you have 2 parents) and evolve a corrupticorn I cannot breed one in the rift until I evolve 2? Then I can breed or is it clone? 2 corrupticorn in the rift for another and so on. Is that correct?
Best plan if you want many unicorn dragons: breed a second Chromacorn at some point after the heat death of the universe, pair it with your first for a third and fourth, and evolve them both. Then you can breed the Corrupticorns together to fill your Rift with them if you like.
POTM nom! *mopping spluttered coffee off poor ole ipaddy*
And now, for something completely different ... I just KNOW there is some DV cyber-techie on this forum who can convert the dragonarium to an Excel file! Please tell me how!!!
I have a plethora of recumbent reptiles representing, undoubtedly, MILLIONS of $$$ with which to buy the next island that I'm CERTAIN must be in the works (I mean, we're all running out of room, right??), and it's difficult enough to decide which of my little dragonian darlings to sacrifice without having to troll the dragonarium for a current census.
OK, I admit, I've been reckless, blindly breeding with little regard to sustainability, unable to resist the adorable allure of the hatchlings, convincing myself that my hibernation caves stretched far deeper under the vale and beyond the rift than common sense dictated. Alas, the day of reckoning approaches; the piper must be paid; the dragon will have his due. :+(
POTM for extreme emotionality, intermittent alliteration, and deficient depth sounding of hib caves 😈 most excellent!
