It was really strange. I need a Tulip in my main park, so decided to bring my rift version down to try and clone it. I opened up a spot in a Hidden habitat, so it would have a spot for it. I clicked to move it, and it went into a dark habitat that I had missed filling all the way when moving some dragons. Then when I went to breed using it, I filtered on dark to see if it would show up, but it didn’t. I had to filter for hidden dragons to find it. It is still sitting in that dark habitat, except when in the breeding cave.
It got weirder tonight. I tried the same thing in my baby park, for the same reason, I still need a tulip. This time I decided to empty a spot in a dark habitat, to see what would happen. The tulip refused to go into it, preferring my hibernation cave instead. I had to open a spot in my hidden habitat for it. I will admit that in my baby park, it is a small dark habitat, whereas in my main park it is a giant dark reward habitat. Anyway, just weird.
It could be because the dark habitat is the reward one. For reward light and dark habitats, they also have the rift element and their respective element. That's why your Tulip dragon can sit inside.
rulilind, as unknownlance said, the Dark Reward habitat is the reason why your Tulip is in a dark habitat...
... but also because you’re pure magic.

This quest hasn’t been recorded in wiki or the sandbox. I’ll add it to the front page of this event thread for reference, even though Vipera isn’t an event dragon.

LOLOLOLLOOLOLLOOOLLLL!! I'm sad it's not Vipera-y but now my niece and I are definitely going to name the dragon Vipera-y! 😀😅😆
The pop-up messages in the game have the same confusing wording from The Traveling Dragon Faire. The last day of the event and the day the event market closes are the same date, and there’s no mention of the last day players can collect event currency and claim eggs. If it’s the same error as the Faire, the last day to collect Magic Eggs is Monday, 25 May at 11.00am MDT. And the event market closes on Wednesday, 27 May at 11.00am MDT.
It’s unfortunate the last day to collect Magic Eggs is not mentioned in-game because for this event it’s especially important since that’s also the last day players can claim eggs from the Runic Breeding Caves. I’ll ask Deca for confirmation.
UPDATE: there has been no confirmation on the Spring Shellebration end dates. Sorry about that. I asked twice through the Game Reps channel, and didn’t receive an answer, so I figured they were sorting it out. Then today, a player sent me an email she received from Deca’s support that cryptically says they can’t disclose the last day of the event.
Maybe they’re extending the event, maybe it’s something else, but the event FAQ page that’s linked provides no dates so far. It only says, 'we'll let you know [when] the event is about to come to an end'. The message in-game still states event currency will be converted on 27 May, so it sounds like we have until 25 May, 11.00am MDT to claim eggs from the Runic Breeding Caves. However, since nothing is confirmed, if you’re absolutely sure about which eggs you want, it may be best to just claim them now.
That's so weird DECA won't tell us the last of the event. Isn't it suppose to end in a couple days what are they waiting for? Thanks for asking them and for posting that email. I guess they want it to be a secret maybe theres a big surprise!
Thanks also for letting us know about the url change. I've been looking up the event info every day to see if it's been updated yet with the last day of the event and I got really concerned when it kept coming up as a error.
If you have extra rifts, twins or regulars of the Monolith or Stoneshell dragons it is cheaper to evolve extras now while the event is going on than after @100 gems.
I am leaving this event with all twin rifts, rifts, twins and regulars of all evolved dragons except one regular twin Minchi (have twin rift). 🥳🥳🥳🥳 I am very happy with this event. I was super busy and still managed to get everything I wanted with only 1-2 check ins most days.
IF this event runs the same as previous events, this doubles weekend is the last chance to earn or buy magic. This would agree with the first end date previously posted.
In past events, the runic caves have also disappeared at the end of the doubles weekend, but there were still two more days to spend your event currency. There has usually been a timer in game at this stage.
My suggestion is to claim or breed any dragons you want in the runic cave before reset after the doubles weekend. There is a countdown timer in the Social/News feed for the doubles weekend.
You have one claim per cave that you have activated, so if you haven't bought any runes and you activated a different cave with the two runes we were given, you will have a maximum of four claims.

Deca has started replying to emails about the event end date by confirming 24 May as the last day to collect Magic Eggs. The time isn’t included in their response, but based on the end date mix-up from the last event, the current pop-up messages, and the email I posted, we can conclude:
The last day to collect event currency and claim eggs from the Runic Breeding Caves is 25 May at 11.00am MDT.
I’m not entirely sure why this date could not be disclosed in the email from Wednesday, five days before the event is to end, but it was recently mentioned that the possibility of an event extension could’ve been the reason. However, there’s no confirmation of this, so it remains speculation.
I’ve asked Deca to state both end dates (last day to collect currency and day the event store closes) and their times in the event FAQ and in-game messages for future events. Several other Game Reps requested this as well, and also added the outstanding point that event extensions are viewed positively by players, so they should never be a reason to withhold the event’s end date.

I am not sure why they would not want players to know when the last day to retrieve dragon egg claims from the cave would be. I would think they would avoid lots of emails from angry players about losing the claims.
I know it's a bit early to bring this up, but so far it looks like Glowwing and Starwing pedestals will give us the best DC to Magic Egg ratio at the end of the event. They each can be bought for 105 eggs and sell for 1.5 million DC. That gives you a return of 14,286 DC/egg. I'm not exactly looking forward to actually doing all of that buying and selling though. Unless we get something else to spend eggs on, I'm going to be buying and selling a lot of pedestals! Getting close to 400 at this point...
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

In case anyone else was also wondering. Thank you greggerman They are both in the Freckled tier.

If you have the time, or need the DC, the Burcadian Monolith gives the best return for Magic Eggs. Buy it for 160 eggs and sell it for 5 million DC - a return of 31,250 DC/Egg. It is unusual for a decoration to have a better return rate than a pedestal.
The annoying thing with the Burcadian Monolith is that you are only allowed two in your park at a time, so you can't buy them to sell at a later date.
Arg. I meant to spend a while today wasting gems on minigames to get evolution fodder (the only complimentary thing I can say about evolution events like this is at least they're don't pretend they're not whale hunting) and then the heat wave baked my brains. This event has not been particularly enjoyable and now I get to either stay up late or get up early (or both, probably) to try and finish.

Edit - I'm getting more twin dragons out of these nuisance chests than I am evolution decor, and more gold/food/eggs than decor. -_-

Edit #2 - Hrm. I think I can just buy a bunch of Spring Chests and still get everything I want. Fewer pedestals to flip for coins but meh, I don't have the patience for that right now. Regardless, if you *buy* an extra round of minigame you should darned well get at least *one* evolution decor when it's that sort of event. Also what the heck is up with Monolith 6's breeding odds? I was getting 3-4 in a row of M1/2/4 and a lot of M3 and even a handful of M5 but not a single M6 despite having at least one nest (and usually most of my rift breedings) going towards trying to get the Monoliths I needed to evolve the entire event.
I claimed my eggs from the runic caves, purchased everything remaining with event eggs, and still have 50k + remaining. I was thinking we should be able to purchase twin and rifts of the items in the event store. Even for an additional cost. It would be better than buying pedestals or Burcadian Monolith just to sell for dc.
I am seriously tempted to quit the game. Got all but the last few purchases done last night before going to bed, get up this morning to finish off... and basically none of the hour or so I spent last night got saved. I might not have *time* to re-do everything now. Worthless event, 0/10 would not repeat, would definitely abandon the game if I was just starting.
*****
Edit - Phew. Think I got everything and think it actually synced to their stupid servers this time. Outside of idiotic events that force you to spend premium currency I generally enjoy this game and if I did quit poof there goes the log-in streak and one missed day would have soured me on the whole thing, given I've kept it going since it was added, so I really didn't want to end up in that particular quandary. Still, I think I'm going to slack off for a week or so, keep the streak rolling but not much else. Hopefully the next event isn't an evolution one, if those do become the norm I think I *will* be out unless they make it feasible to get all the evolution stuff with only a minimal investment of gems.

I am not happy! I missed the cut off time by a few minutes (because of life) and was given random eggs, which is fair, I guess. The problem is they are ALL dragons I already had. I had bred some ones that I hadn’t had before the event, and was planning to claim. It would have been nice for the game to have given me those. I know It’s my fault, I should have chosen earlier, but this hasn’t helped me feel better after a few difficult days. 😱😡😩 😢. Thanks for letting me vent; I needed that.
Can we still evolve the dragons with event currency after the last day to collect event currency?
Good thing we can still use event currency to evolve the dragons during these last couple of days. My brain suddenly brightened up and told me I should be evolving the rift versions (I think someone had mentioned this before). If you have 2 rifted evolved dragons, you can always get the regular version and the regular pedestal, but in addition, you also can breed for the rift egg. Duh!!
So now, I am hurriedly breeding for more in the rift. I only had one each of the ones to be evolved. 🐨🐨
Btw, I turned the color back on, and it is blinding! 😎

I decided to try the Burcadian Monolith thing because it is a significantly better return for your eggs. However, after you sell one you have to go back to the Eggsquisite Market every time to buy another one. That would take forever! No way I’m doing it. At least with the pedestals, you can do “buy another” on them and don’t have to go back to the market for each purchase. It’s still going to take forever to get through 60,000+ eggs, but at least it’s conceivable! We’ll see how it goes...

Good point. That's another annoying thing about buying the Burcadian Monolith. If you start now, you may finish before the timer runs out in two days!

With the Event being over, I turned the color back on...I almost forgot how pretty the park was with the color but turning it off made it one heck of a lot easier to find the Eggs & the Fat Guy.
To show my appreciation to DECA for rescuing DV & my good fortune in this Event, I spent real 💰 for the 1st time in 2 years...and Tolzar is still there 🤞.
Satisfied w/Event; got everything I needed + and still have 3K+ Gems left. 😁
