Good night, dear Frons, the lovely, skeptical leaf who kept our imagination and grew our hearts.
I love this forum, because it’s an enormous scrapbook outlining the history and progress of DragonVale. I purposefully post lots of images to record new releases, developments, and updates to the game. The loss of the original Frons is a huge change, and for those who favoured him, hopefully he will be remembered fondly when clicking through the DV scrapbook.
So here is my Frons appreciation post...
On 2 October, 2020, Frons was released into the Vale.
Frons had a controversial start. Some people loved him, others did not. He was very aware of this and a little self-conscious.
But he still loved us...
For three weeks, he graced the Vale with his remarkable expression of stunning grief and beautiful doubt.
His new look has erased his expression and personality. But we will never forget that bewildering, classic face.
Frons frolicked in his habitat, but surprisingly came to life showing his agility and superior animation when he raced.
He speed-walked and tip-toed when he ran (apparently and obviously, this is how a leaf runs). And when the race concluded, he was OUT OF BREATH. Hilarious, detailed, and marvellously true to life.
The new Frons is pretty and we will love it too. It is freed from the flaws, skepticism, and self-doubt. But we will never forget how relatable a leaf could be. Long live Frons the Maple, our memories are strong.

Thanks for the memories. I loved original Frons & 6 of him were to fill one of my newly built Hidden habitats, some with a trait & some just his simple, bemused self. In fact I was just breeding a sixth one when the imposter in garish fancy dress arrived.. What a shock that was!! Forever sad I never got to see him race 😢 Farewell my friend, always missed but never forgotten.
On a lighter note, I completely forgot to spend my remaining pine cones 🤦♀️ Farewell 2nd Coldcoil.. 😆
adlerist, as one of those who deeply mourns the passing of frons, I greatly appreciate this beautiful eulogy. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I never tried using frons in the racetrack, so I am especially glad that you captured that on video.

Yes, I also am one of those who deeply mourn the passing of the original Frons. In some ways I feel cheated, having spent extra time breeding for him because of my love of his look and the memories he invoked. The last 1/2 mile of road to my house is lined with large, old, stately Sugar Maples. I love those trees. They have a beauty in every season, but the color in fall is unbelievable. A close second is taking walk on a dark night in June or July when the fireflies are lighting them up like twinkle lights on a Christmas tree. Whenever I saw Frons, I would pause to watch and enjoy his animation. The new Frons is just another dragon, nothing special. Yes, adlerist, thank you for the tribute to our beloved Frons.
What a beautiful celebration of life for our little Frons dragon. I wish he could have been a juvenile version.
What a great solution this could have been - the original leaf Frons as the juvenile version and the current version as the adult! I also grew to like that expressive face and post-race animation. I was lucky enough to race him!

OMGosh! All of these posts are wonderful and filled with such great prose and ideas! Adlerist, i wanted to cry after i read your touching tribute! 😰 And then other beautiful posts followed. Another job for you, adlerist (as if u r not busy enuf), could you pls forward these posts to DECA? Maybe they could bring Frons back or at least let Frons be the juvenile stage of the new one (as ukwildkats4ever suggested) so those who love the original Frons could use the fountain of youth & keep him at that stage. What talented writers we have on this forum! LOVED all of these posts! Thanks, all! 😃

Many creative ways to bring the original Frons back to the Vale have been suggested to Deca, including: changing Frons to an enhancement dragon, create the original Frons as a new dragon, letting Frons change with the seasons like the Seasonal dragon, and I suggested allowing Frons to alter its appearance with the Twilight Tower, similar to Lycan. I like the idea of letting original Frons be a stage in new Frons’ growth too.
Alas, Deca has stated none of these will be possible, as the design was removed 'for good reasons as it's not fitting all of our quality checks'. So the original Frons cannot return to the game.
I don’t know if Deca can/will consider working on the design or if that’s possible. But I will pass everyone’s lovely messages on to them. At the very least, this should give them an idea of what players would like to see in the game. We don’t need perfect dragons. We don’t want the hero. We want the accidental anti-hero, who has anxiety, awkwardly struggles through life, and has asthma. It gives the dragons personality and life, so we can relate to them and the game.
I love that everyone loves original Frons so much. He was the unexpected king among dragons. A leaf, the King of the Dragons, what were the chances.
