It's something new and different, and I appreciate that. It's easy to get the first couple wins in each camp once you get the hang of things, and the last couple can be challenging if you're having fun with it. Otherwise give it the free plays it gives, it doesn't cost any currency to play, and if you get extra pinecones then great, otherwise no worries.
I'll try to put together a good guide for it too soon, I planned to today but my wisdom tooth removal pretty much knocked me out of being productive for the day!
Feel better soon.

Eggy Hatchy = 👎🏻
I don’t get it. I wanna get Pine Cones but I haven’t a clue.
I don’t know a thing about breeding except the current Dragon I’m trying to breed.
How am I supposed to remember breeding combos for Dragons I got years ago?
it should be up to DECA to publish a simple, understandable, document about the goals of this game and how to attain them. We shouldn’t have to figure something this complicated out for ourselves.
🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
C’mon Man!

Not keeping the sandbox on speed dial to game the secondary system and I just got a single chest from Kairos for picking the right dragon. Don't care how fast the idiotic tower refreshes, I'm popping in just long enough to do the second round of proper games and am otherwise done for the day.
Quite a valid choice.
But I’m not sure what a “chest from Kairos” means.
Fletch_smf _smf I'll try to help you with Kairos. If I muck it up too much, I'm sure someone else will jump in.
Kairos is the Legendary Dragon of Time. It is available at level 16 or higher. If you are leveled, you should see its perch. It's located a little to the right, lower area from the Gem Island.
You have to complete fragments to be able to "summon" Kairos. Click on the perch and you should see an "Enter" button. There are 3 levels of fragments to complete. You can spend gems on these or get them as a random gift by racing in the Dragon Track.
When you have completed all fragments and summoned Kairos, he can bend time lol. Every 4 days you can "Activate" Kairos and time will advance by 24 hours, which includes advancing breeding times, hatching times, advances the DC of the habitats, and maybe a few other things.
You can also perform Quests, similar to competing in the Collosseum, and receive prizes after Kairos is completed. Hope this makes a little sense. There is a page in the wiki for Kairos and the Perch of Kairos . Hope this helps.
Oops, forgot to explain the "chest from Kairos". When you send a dragon on a quest from Kairos, you may win DC, gems, or Rift currency, or a "chest" in this event which will contain 3 prizes, DC, gems, Rift $, or pine cones.
Also thanks for the tip on one particular egg possibly being able to complete more than one goal!
Thank you to everyone who has shared tips and tricks for the new Egg Hatchy game. I don’t think I’m getting maximum points, but I’m having fun playing the new game.
With the excitement of the new game, don’t forget to put a dragon in the Proving Grounds (the challenge arena). Not many pine cones are given, but they are reasonably easy pine cones to get.

I’m not sure if she was saying she was happy to get pine cones from a chest, or she was unhappy to only get 1 chest?

Huge thanks to ALL of you for the hints & helps you have posted on the egg hatchy! What a wonderful forum with so many brainy & kind people to help others! So happy for the day my grandson introduced me to this delightful game & this brilliant forum! I am still not understanding the egg hatchy game at all (obviously have not played the merge games we are constantly shown ads for) but this is always what happens with me (i.e. the penny drops later for me than others). But it will drop & i will patiently wait for it to drop (will also ask my granddaughter for help when she is here tomorrow😂)... In the mean time, just wanted to express my appreciation & gratitude to all of you wonderful Valers on the forum who are always so kind, patient, whip-smart & helpful! 😘❤️

Thank you Fletch. I’m glad that I am not the only one flummoxed by this, and that it isn’t necessary to spend time on it.
Sorry about the previous post - obviously so technically challenged I can’t manage to quote either.
glademaid when you quote change to BBCode (in the down left corner of your edit window) then you'll see the commands for begin and end of the quote. Just put your answer after the [\quote] and it will show underneath the quotation window. you can check if you have done it right when you switch back to preview

dragon list (last dragon : Gatren) DV friend id: Crumble#7733 friend link coop friends always welcome, but all my gems are spoken for
A few observations from playing: Try to use the elements that are not needed in goals as your first moves. Wait until the last move to add the needed element. For a really good chance strategically leave the primary dragons as your last move when available.
For example: Say I need a metal 3 goal. Merge eggs like Firefly or Flower for the first two moves since they do not contain metal and then merge into a metal type dragon or a metal primary for a level 3.
The earlier tiers are easier to complete so once you get your type goal, go after rare and epic type dragons to get a lot of points to open higher tiers. That way you do not waste tickets trying multiple times to open the tiers. Pay attention to the numbers at the bottom, it tells you the highest possible amount you can get with the two eggs you are trying to merge.

I spent money to complete the Eggy Hatchy game. Kinda disappointed at how few pine cones I ended up getting for my $10. It appears that just buying pine cones on double days will be a much more effective strategy. Playing the game was fun but I’m not sure whether I’ll spend more money on it.
Breeding Target: Ovalith. It's ALWAYS Ovalith! Hoarded gems as a safety net to ensure an Ovalith during BEB, but I'm not sure if I want to spend them: I think I want the thrill of breeding it! Gems wasted on speeding up Ovalith breeding/incubation: 2890

Used your suggestion and I actually gained a tier! Doesn't take much to make me happy
I finished the first tower. The last stage gave 40 pinecones. The necessary tower total was 280.000
Sorry, haven't paid enough attention to remember the mid tower total
Also, I’m wondering if goals are set or randomised. Taking notes as I go, if someone else has something to compare them too.
I completed all towers and am very sure they're more random than set, unlike at first. One tier 5 gave me a 3 x level 3, + 1 level 4 task. Point minimum seems inconsistent, too.
what is a "yellow egg"? I assume you don't mean lightning hybrid
Sun was referring to golden hybrids. They are worth a lot of points. However, if you follow that strategy of banking all golden hybrids, you might not be able to complete other goals such as getting a level 5 cold dragon.
Yup, this is only useful at a higher point minimim or if you're trying not to spend too many tickets. You only really need one golden hybrid twin to meet minimum.
I recommend banking a level 1 golden hybrid if you start out with them, though.

Heal well!
Oh, no. Teeth are the worst. I hope it gets better soon.

okay, thanks.
I do think there's more to it, as you say, figuring out how to get the 4 and 5-times-merged dragons of the correct element, juggling those with points if they are needed, and not leaving any necessary eggs isolated in rows and columns is tricky. Especially when two hybrids of the element you want is always likely to produce a hybrid of the two elements you don't want. But it is kind of fun, once you get the hang of it, and it's nice that they give multiple towers so there are multiple level one choices. I pretty much get stuck on level 4 though.
From Deca's comment about more possible outcome eggs during BeB, it seems like this will be a permanent feature in the game, not just an event special? So we will have plenty of time to hone our strategy, I hope.

A player on Reddit, PhantomSparx09, wrote up an explanation on how to play Eggy Hatchy. It’s probably the most detailed and well-received post so far.
I’ll add the link to PhantomSparx09’s reply to this thread’s front page along with Deca’s event FAQ explanation on the basic mechanics of Eggy (already on the FP).
Quil, if you put something together, post it here, and I’ll add the link to the FP. This way we’ll have several guides from player’s perspectives.
Fletch_smf, I moved the Eggy Hatchy info you and others have collected to a dedicated Eggy Hatchy post on the FP so all this information is kept together. Here’s the link: dragonvale-tips.proboards.com/post/198125

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
Thanks so much for taking the time, for the explanation. I do appreciate it.
I’m not sure if she was saying she was happy to get pine cones from a chest, or she was unhappy to only get 1 chest?
I'm 99% certain I picked the right dragon but only got one chest instead of two. Given the night I was already having, logging in to that and a new mini"game" that basically killed my interest in DV for the day...
