With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post
and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste.
You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were.
Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod.
On June 1st (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favourite thread. You'll have about a week to vote.
So about the 7th of June we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. The 7 mods (making an assumption here, because I haven't heard back from all of them) will give a gem to both of the people that win the poll.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit.
Hello all, I joined the forum To help my son (Tanyon) out, since he is not old enough to register in open forums yet. Like a lot of young boys he is very good at math but is having a difficult time with reading and really doesn't have any interest in getting better at it so I figured what a better way to get him reading and writing than to combine one of his interests (dragonvale) with reading and writing. I'm hoping a forum that helps him play the game will get him reading the tips and writing questions, his genuine interest in the anwers should have him reading more and getting better at it.
Now a little about how I found this forum. About a year ago my 7 year old was playing with my iPad and was looking through the apps. He saw the cute little dragon avatar for dragonvale and asked if we could load it. I looked through it and it seemed innocent enough and had the right price tag so I said sure. I then turned off the in app purchase option and off he went.
Every now and then he would come running up in excitement having just leveled up, or hatched a new dragon. Being the typical parent with so much going on I would give the typical "yeah buddy, that's cool, good job" and get right back to "being busy".
This went on for several months until a couple months ago when he had leveled up to 20 and showed me his new blue fire dragon, telling me he bred a such and such with a such and such. The word "bred" got my attention so I asked him to show me. To be honest I was pretty amazed at the little world he had created.
He showed me all the different dragons that he had and told me all about the breeding process and how he went about getting all the different dragons, combining different elements and all. Now keep in mind this was coming from a 7 year old that had just started to learn to read and write.
I then decided to get online and do more research about this dragonvale game. I was also surprised to find out that it was linked to Facebook, which neither of us are on. I learned that having friends really helped out in the gem dept. and this explained why I was seeing friend requests pop up on my screen.
After doing the research and getting back on his game I was dumbfounded. Somehow he had figured out how to play the game and build this little world without hardly being able to read. What really amazed me was how he had done it without spending a dime of real money. He is currently at level 27, almost to 28, and has collected all 16 of his goals. Since he started late he was not able to get a Bone Dragon or a Reindeer Dragon but has at least two of every other dragon available, again all without spending a dime of real money.
Well enough of the novel, I will have him come on tonight and introduce himself, he is 8 now but his game name is still Tanyon7. Please be patient with the spelling, remember this is to get him excited about reading and writing and teach him the importance of it.
Rob
This is my nomination for post of the month!
Tell him welcome!
Sending him a friend request hope he adds me would be awesome to see his progress.
My second panlong is being cooked up. Blorpi, a hawt young mud dragon in her sexiest lingerie met with a handsome and dashing young blazing dragon. I can hear a lot of Barry White playing up in the ebi, but cant see anything. Everytime I looked, the ipad screen immediately gets all steamed over.
For months, jotun, my crystal dragon, lay lurking in the dark bowels of the hibernation cave. Banished there for creating countless numbers of its dreaded kind on my quest for the elusive rainbow dragon. The fury boiled inside him... All of his offspring had been ripped from his claws and sold off for a few quick bucks. The horror! Sparky, my blue fire dragon, was the most thrilled with this banishment... The 24 hour breedings were really taking a toll on him. All these months jotun sat there, plotting his revenge...
Alas! The creation of the emerald dragon. A wry grin came upon jotuns mouth as he once again emerged from the hibernation cave... He revealed himself to the world again, purple and grotesque. As he relegated himself to the breeding island, his first partner, my mine dragon, shuddered with disgust. At least this venture would only be 6 hours, the mine dragon thought to himself. Luckily, this nightmare would be brought to an end swiftly by the use of a few strategic gems. jotun sat and waited patiently for his next conquest. ah, the lichen! Another hideous beast. They plotted together and jotun masterminded the best revenge... another 24 hour child. NOOOOOOOOO!
Sneak Peek! Gemstone Island and a new class of Gem Dragons are coming soon to DragonVale. There will be a new Gem Dragon available each month based on that month's birthstone.
A picture says it better then a thousand words ... So i looked closely at Glenys picture of her IPhone which tells us: - Glenis loves playing, piles of games plus those for a young person named Micki! - some books - cooking, well, no excesses lol - emails, seems she hates e-mail, there are 74 waiting there lol - her feet nails are well done in a nice red color, nicely resting on a beach - the person at the other end of those feet is currently playing DV so don t send her further emails, she is BUSY!
Hey, who said there was no invisible dragon at DV? I just found one!
As you can see, Willy, my Lichen pet dragon, is nowhere to be seen in his habitat:
Not even when I ordered him (yelling at air, since I wasn't sure if he was really somewhere around me) to go to the EBI, did he appear, although my Crystal dragon seemed to be having a good time, even if it appeared to be all alone.
Finally, I decided to go into his room, but surprise, surprise, no one there! Willy has become the first invisible dragon that we finally have proof of!
It seems some evil wizards have been sending magical bugs with the new update!
Yes. Seems Tony is a packing light for his trip to Hispaniola. Mirrored shades, binoculars, SBF 2000 sun lotion (he'll come home whiter than when he left), the dreaded "Speedo" that looks like he's smuggling a bunch of grapes into the country, and his favorite t-shirt, which proudly states, "Let go of my ears! I know what I'm doing!"
Yeah the game, for me, has certainly changed since I discovered this community, the kids at the wiki and have access to a test account. Instead of just being my real life family talking about things and trying combinations and just plodding along, the information is at everyone's fingertips in a heartbeat. It has taken something from the game for me, knowing all the answers immediately.
Of course what I get in exchange is friendship, an extended family, the chance to help a large number of people and share in the joy of people reaching their goals. Good with the bad.
Bad! Bad! Naughty! How selfish you've been! Oh, and to think we trusted you all this time! How could you place important things and real life over video game gems? What, just what, were you thinking? If this ever happens again ... just you wait until your father gets home!
ROTFLMAO is that what you say to your cats bad ! bad ! naughty! Lol poor kitties
Welcome Jd Dragon! We are a jolly bunch of people who are total nerds and do not really play DragonVale but somehow live in DragonVale. We are probably a good case for your human behavior study
