Last year’s Four Horsemen dragons (Barbarous, Charlatan, Macabre, Scourge) have very low breeding percentages. It’s not nearly as bad as Chromacorn, though. The Game Reps have requested the percentages be raised for event dragons, but I don’t know if Deca is willing to change BFS’s dragons, like Barbarous, Charlatan, Macabre, and Scourge.
It appears the problem occurred when BFS’s low breeding Four Horsemen returned for this event and were used in breeding combos for the new dragons. Even though the new Deca event dragons have better odds than the Four Horsemen, without Barbarous and Charlatan, two of the new limiteds weren’t breedable. And since many players were unable to breed the Four Horsemen last year, they still didn’t have them when this event started. I don’t think Deca realised this or foresaw the problem, since they weren’t around last Hallowe’en. But I’ll let them know and suggest they consider using older dragons or ones with higher percentages in future breeding combos.
I have two parks, in one I tried to breed Barbarous and Charlatan and in the other I tried Macabre and Scourge. All four caves were used the ENTIRE event with these pairings (all dragons were at a level 20) with a minimum of twice daily breedings facilitated with gems and I managed to breed ONE Macabre dragon during the whole event. Same with the Co-op cave, twice a day and I managed to clone one dragon, with you adlerist, that's all I got, I was never able to clone another in either park. The event was 39 days long (I think I'm counting right) and that was all I got.
I love this game but that is SO discouraging, it makes me not want to play because I can't breed anything. Buying dragons is great as a supplement but is NOT the main purpose of this game. Please let Deca know that we aren't whining, this is a legitimate complaint about something that fundamentally changes the focus of the game. If this is going to be a buy only game with only the barest chance to actually breed the dragons, old or new, then they should just admit it please so I can keep from wasting my time and frustration breeding. I spent a lot of gems, and perhaps that was the purpose, but with the current model I don't plan on spending them in the future. If enough other players feel the same Deca will start to lose revenue.
Deca, we appreciate the things you've done to improve our game and the effort you've expended creating new things for us like Eggy, but please fix our beloved game so we can all return to our dragon breeding delight. We'll still speed things up with gems, we're an impatient lot and want to see those new babies as soon as possible. Please, please, make this fun again!
Deca does see your, the forum’s, and other DV communities’ complaints as legitimate. They do not think players are whining. If they didn’t care what players thought they probably wouldn’t ask for feedback or respond to our emails. Unfortunately, it’s not always possible for them to fulfil players’ requests quickly. Last week the Game Reps discussed lowering new event dragons’ breeding percentages with the Deca community manager and this was brought to the DV team.
Barbarous, Charlatan, Macabre, and Scourge are BFS’s dragons. The breeding percentages for these dragons were not lowered by Deca; it is the same as when they were released. I found them very difficult to breed last year, and players who were around last Hallowe’en probably recall the challenge in breeding them.
As I said earlier, it would’ve been better if Deca didn’t use the Four Horsemen dragons in the breeding combos for the new event dragons. But since Deca didn’t own DV last October, they probably didn’t realised how much trouble players had breeding these dragons and that many didn’t have regular versions, and even less had them traited.
Deca is not opposed to changing the breeding percentages. They said they’ll review the numbers and make necessary adjustments. I know that’s little consolation to players, and players will remain upset until they can breed dragons more easily. But since this is a new complaint for Deca, it may take more time for them to fully address it.

Nox is now making non epic, regular etherium rates. Back to the Vale he goes into the new rift habitat.
Since neither of Nox’s parents are an epic, there was no epic potential for Nox; therefore, the Game Reps requested she be changed to a rare dragon. She has now completed her transformation. Deca finished Nox several days ago, but had to wait until a data deploy (which occurred today for the Xmas event) so the changes would show in the game.
In case anyone is interested in the latest updates to Nox, last week three remaining characteristics were identified as epic and brought to Deca’s attention: (1) Discord player noted Nox was still earning Etherium at an epic rate; (2) Discord mod noticed Nox’s pedestal button in the Dragonarium had the epic, purple border; (3) I mentioned Nox’s breeding percentage was still that of an epic dragon.
All three of these items were fixed, and Nox is now a full-fledged rare dragon.

I think this event was a success for me. I got all the dragons I wanted, including a couple that I missed from previous events like Charlatan and Bloatato. It was a little surprising though, seeing my Wendigo in the light of day. I had to do a double take and was like, "What happened? You're all fuzzy now!"
But I still love my Wendigo even in its daytime form. It stands out a bit from its companions, looking all fluffy and cute. But I like that. It's a nice contrast. And I got Kwall too, though I went ahead and bought him at the last second just to make sure I had one. He looks so cute! 💙💜❤
Can't wait to see what DECA has in store for the next event. Hopefully we'll get more of these day and night dragons, because I really like those.

Thank you adlerist for talking to Deca on our behalf about the concerns about this event and confirming that Deca are listening to the game reps. It is reassuring that Deca do not see the complaints as whining and are not thinking think that the players expect everything for little effort.
It is easy to forget that Deca have only been involved with DragonVale for twelve months and are probably still learning some of the more subtle intricacies of the game. We are grateful that Deca have continued with DV and introduced new dragons and events over the last year.

Hallowe’en has long since run out of candy, and Thanksgiving leftovers are over.
But we’ve turn the corner into a holly, pepperminty season. Christmas will be here in 14 days... get ready for the flavour!
I’ll be locking this thread soon, but if anyone else has additional feedback regarding the Hallowe’en event, please message me, and I’ll pass it on. Happy Holidays!
