The LAST CALL competition is a race to be the last person to breed the next rare or epic dragon. The "winner" (the last person without said dragon) receives at least a gem from all the participants; a meager reward for the pain of being last.
Long Story Short ...
1. Join the competition. 2. Constantly breed for epic/rare dragon in at least 1 cave when it is released. 3. Breed said dragon, and lose the competition. Then send a gem to the winner. Or 3. Win the competition by having all your competitors breed said dragon first, and receive a gem from all your competitors.
Long Story Long ...
Rules: - Participation is reserved for members of this DragonVale Community. I need to be able to PM the participants during, and after, the competition, and I can only PM members.
- All participants agree to pledge at least one gem into the competition pot, to go to the winner. Participants are welcome to pledge more than one gem to any number of other players.
- All participants promise to constantly use at least 1 of the 3 breeding sites in their main park for the competition. You can breed in the Rift Breeding Cave to try for the dragon, but you must also be breeding in a cave in your main park. If a participant has only 1 breeding site, it must be used constantly for the competition. If you don't already have the required parents when the combination is announced, it is acceptable to use your breeding site to breed them.
- To register for the contest, you must post in this thread, include your current park level AND your Friend ID. You must send a friend invite to me.
- If you make a mistake at some point and put the wrong dragons to breed, it is your responsibility to buy out your mistake, because you must always be trying for the sought dragon in at least one site.
- If you get caught by someone not breeding in at least one site and you get reported, you get DQd.
- Post as soon as you are sure you have bred the dragon.
- Post when you have paid out your debt.
- Have fun - Be honest - Koala Mechanics: Before the Comp Starts - Announce your participation by replying to this thread. Please include your Friend ID and current park level, without which I won't add you to the competition. Please include any other pledges that you want to make, beyond paying the winner.
- Send a Friend Invite to me, Fletch#4399. I will accept your invite and visit your park, after which I will add your name to the list below.
- Please modify your inbox preferences so that you are notified by email when you receive a forum PM. I use PMs to get in touch with participants. If I can't get a hold of you by PM, I will resort to emailing your personal account.
When the Comp Starts
- Someone on the staff will close down registration and declare the competition started when a qualifying dragon is released and minimum level requirement has been determined. If no one from the staff has declared the competition started, then it hasn't started yet. (It's important that this competition be triggered only by the correct type of dragon.)
- In the unlikely event that someone does not meet the minimum level requirement once registration has been closed, they will be removed from the contest.
- Reply to this thread when you have successfully bred the sought dragon.
During the Comp
- This competition is self-policed; though I will be checking in on the players, from time to time. We do encourage befriending the other competitors during the comp. You will need to friend the winner at least, to send them a gem after the end of the comp.
- If another, shiny, limited dragons comes out and you want to focus on breeding it, you can withdraw from this competition. But you are still expected to pay your pledge of gems when the competition ends.
- We've been asked more than once if buying an egg pedestal disqualifies a participant from the competition. The answer is, it depends This competition is all about breeding. So technically, buying the egg pedestal does not disqualify you. However, what concerns us is that everyone gets the same fair chance to win/lose this competition. Therefore, if you want to buy an egg pedestal, make a post in this competition thread so that everyone knows that the egg on display in your park was purchased (and not bred). If you do not announce your egg purchase, and a mod or a participant reports an egg pedestal on display in your island, we will have no choice but to assume that you bred the dragon, and we will move you over to the loser list.
- You cannot buy and hatch the dragon and remain in the competition.
- Stuff happens: RL, exams, family stuff, vacations, internet outtages, broken iPod/Pad/Phones, whatever. When stuff happens, and you can't keep up with this competition, the right thing to do is let us know so we can withdraw you. Who knows, maybe some folks will feel inspired to send you sympathy gems. But it's better than getting DQd and possibly causing others frustration.
The Comp Ends - when we confirm the winner of the comp has the dragon, they decline to continue to breed for it, or the dragon has left the market.
- Pixie and Twin awards may be offered till we have a winner OR until the comp has ended.
After the Comp
- If you make pledges beyond just paying the winner, it is good to keep on top of them as the comp continues.
- Please pay what you owe promptly.
Pledges
NOTE: Due to the nature of some of the pledges for prior contests, it is okay to sign-up for this contest even if you have not paid your pledge for a previous contest. Please keep in mind that you must 1) have made a crazy pledge that takes some time to pay off, and be 2) actively paying off said pledge.
To simplify the pledge recording, the following shorthand styles may be used: Boring —> one gem to the winner
First & Last —> one gem to the winner and one gem to the first competitor to breed the dragon
GT —> gem + treats
Ninja —> 2 gems to a person who breeds a second whilst the first is still breeding
Darcy (I nominate ??) —> one to each player still in after the nominated person gets theirs
wapatango (I nominate ??) —> Darcy pledge repeated for each subsequent person, after the nominated person gets theirs Lemmy (I nominate ??) —> A reverse Darcy. 1 gem to each person already a loser when the nominated person gets theirs
Buffy (I nominate ??) —> 1 gem to the winner. One gem to the loser immediately after the nominated person
Reverse Buffy (I nominate ??) —> 1 gem to the winner. One gem to the loser immediately before the nominated person
Pixie (Day of the Week) —> 1 gem to whoever breeds the dragon on the chosen day
Middle —> 1 gem to the middle person/s to breed the dragon
Twins —> 1 gem to the person who breeds a twin. 1 gem to the person who receives a twin.
Prime —> 1 gem to each person who's order number is a prime number (2,3,5,7,11,13,17, etc)
RULILIND -> 1 gem to each person who breeds their first dragon during the last 24 hours it is available.

LynnMarie # 9633 Level 140 Pledge GT to first, GT to odds (making double payout to first) and 3 GT to the last winner
Here’s to hoping this dragon won’t be as elusive as the last one was 🥂 🍻🍷🍷
Dedicated Keeper of Lynn’s Vale, est. October 10, 2013 Vale ID LynnMarie#9633. DM me so I can add you back! 😊 Dragons 🐉 715/715🔥 Pedestals 🥚 710/710🔥 House Team Iron Blossom 🌺 Our Blooms Never Rust
Leslie, I don’t know if selecting me for your Darcy pledge is a wise choice, as I came in last on the previous challenge (good Darcy - no payout), and first in the most recent challenge ( bad Darcy choice-lots of gems to pay out).
we shall see. I’m ready for the challenge to begin.
ps it made me think what the Darcy pledge really was. Maybe I will learn of the others next.

Red has been added, just in the nick of time. Sorry about not adding the link to the thread in my post. I usually do, but I was on my phone, and it was a bit of a pain. I forgot to go back and edit it when I got home to my computer. Glad you got here.
And this competition is on! koala everyone.
IDEN is a 24 hour breed time, and so are 4 of the possible fails, so don't forget to check your social menu avatar to see if you are successful.
So this competition began before we had the CBC to socially clone a dragon, and long before there were so many epics in the game that could occur as fails. We used to just post the breeding combo, and everyone would use that to try for the dragon. But now you have a chance of cloning, it seems prudent to add that possibility to the OP when the competition starts.
I have been talking to alderist and singleimage in the event thread about breeding chances, and did a small amount of testing during the last week. You can look at my results starting HERE It seems to show, what always seemed to be the case ... that the odds of getting an epic don't change. All you can control is the type of fails you get when you don't get the dragon, which is obviously most of the time. The shorter the fail time, the quicker you can try again. In this case, using a Cactus to clone with someone else's Iden gives you a lot of short fails, that you can spend a gem or 2 on, and then try again.
Also, it turns out I don't have Charlatan. So just bought one in the Event tent.
And away we go ...
Edit: 48 hour fail right out of the gate. lol
What an auspicious start Fletch_smf! I don’t have Charlatan or Nightbloom. I’m waiting for my Apocalypse to fly in from the rift so I can at least try for Charlatan. I looked at the breeding for Nightbloom and the combos I have start waaaaaay down the list in the sandbox. I’m already feeling sad... 😕

So, since the event started I have been buying egg of mystery in the rift. During the first two weeks of the event I got 2 rifted charlatans. Might be easier to try that than breeding. Let me know if I can put anything up in the coop for you. Wish I could send my extra eggs to you.

Again, Koala to all.
Fletch_smf why Cactus, which seems to add lightning? Would Pollen (plant/air) be better?
Edit: is it because Cactus is 30 minutes while Pollen is 7 hours?
Yeah. We still have to confirm if rainbow is possible because of the dream element.
But yes, you will clone a lot of Cactus, which you can easily speed up. And the lightning will give you thistle and other short fails. I will get the specific numbers together soon.

Okay quick and dirty, ...
Adding up the possible fails while using Air, Plant and Dark, you get 12.45 hours as an average fail. Adding up the possible fails while using Air, Plant, Lightning and Dark, you get 10.63 hours as an average fail.
You have added 4 fast breeds with Wisp at 2 hours and Thistle at 3 hours, Ash at 6, and Sonic at 8 hours versus 4 long breeds of Cyclone at 18 hours, Wraith, Darkling and Ivy at 14 hours. Adding all those times up you get 79 hours, dividing by the 8 dragons for an average, gives an average of 9.875. This is why the initial average of 12.45 hours gets bought down to 10.63
Last time I used Cactus as a breeding partner in the CBC I got 12 Cactus in 100 breeds. That's a lot of fails you can speed up with a gem, and get straight on to another attempt, which brings the average fail time using Cactus to clone even lower.
The only variable we haven't confirmed yet, is whether you can get Rainbow and DR from trying to clone with an IDEN, because it has the 4th element of Dream.
The Iden Dragon....ugh......I don’t have a Charlatan
I have actually been trying for Charlatan in my EBC, non stop, since the beginning of this event, only have one Spirit so no go in the rift.
And today has been crazy with family drama, so I’m just now on my way to my Vale, where there’s still 24+ hours on a DR sitting in Co-op. My only chance is putting my Nightbloom up with someone’s Charlatan, but I can’t do this until tomorrow, I’m saving gems to buy the bundle packs for Porcelain and Wrath. I don’t think I have a Rifted Spectre, to try for R Spirit, to try for a R Charlatan, so I can try for R Iden.....ugh
Should I stay in the competition with this one, considering I have so many dragons missing?
30 minutes later..... okay now! Things are looking up. Went to my Vale and I see Kairos is waiting for me, yay! I sped up the extra few hours in my co-op, after Kairos sped up 24 for me. Wasn’t a DR, but a Gold. Oh well To the nest it goes and I put up my Willow with a friends Iden. I’m back in the game!!
more good news, I was able to get a Spirit pretty quick in the rift, so it’s up there along with apocalypse trying for a Charlatan
Koala all !! 🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨🐲🐨

That’s up to you. Cactus + Iden in the CBC is probably the best way to breed one, anyway. :-)

Okay, punched the numbers into a spreadsheet.
Smaller number of fails when cloning with an Elder, and so they happen for a greater percentage of the time. The shortest fail is 7 hours, which happens 12.25% of the time. The average fail time is 12.31 hours
When cloning with a Cactus, there are a larger number of fails, but we have a lot of shorter breed times, including Cactus, which happens a lot because of the cloning. 23.35% of the fails are 3 hours or less. So nearly a quarter of the time you can spend a few gems, and reset to try again for IDEN. The average fail time is less than 10 hours.
Thank you for the stats, Fletch_smf! Interesting to see it in action since I haven’t had a chance to go to your page.
