When Deca was first considering the event time change, they were looking at starting events 4 hours earlier. I informed them this would affect the large population of players in the US, particularly those in the Pacific timezone. So they reduced the change to 3 hours to minimise the inconvenience on US players.
I know the time change isn’t ideal for everyone. But unfortunately, it’s not ideal for Deca right now. And since they have to oversee the game, it’s important they’re available for at least a couple hours after an event starts. If you do miss the beginning of an event, do not fret. We will be here with all your event info when you’re ready to play. Hopefully by then we’ll have a decent grasp on the event and the answers to all your questions. 😊
My new start time will be 1am. Even starting to play at a reasonable time of 6 o’clock means missing the first 5 hours each day of the event but there has to be some time zones that are disadvantaged.
Twinsies! Bris-vegas for me. You?
As someone who's start/reset time was 4 in the morning ... what's the problem/disadvantange with not being available directly at this time?

Yes! Bayside.
In the long run, probably not much disadvantage. I just don’t like being that far behind. I’m usually awake at 4, but definitely won’t be playing at 1am.

Yeah I can’t see a disadvantage at all. That’s why I’m asking the question to any and all that are here.

What does it matter?
In fact, there is an advantage to starting later, since there will be more information, such as warnings about glitches, breeding hints for new dragons, etc. available on this forum. For me, the disadvantage is not getting in a last breed before the END of an event or dragon availability period, but I often don't collect from habitats or hatch eggs in the morning because I want them full at reset.
No, you don’t have to get used to it. Deca is willing to make some changes and improve, but those changes might not be as significant or occur as quickly as players want. Remember, Deca is an indie publisher with a much smaller staff than BFS, so they may require more patience. But considering there are dragons that take 50+ hours to breed and another 50+ hours to incubate, we should have patience fairly well nailed down.
I’m sure they do have a much smaller staff but then again, they are creating these new Events almost one on top of the other. They should be giving us a break and making improvements instead of ramming these new Events down our throats...it’s the 💰💰💰! I’d rather see a little more attention to changes & improvements with a little more time between Events.
You replied to a post that had a complaint about DV’s support, and you told the player to 'get used to it', as if Deca is not willing to hear criticism or work on their customer service.
If your actual complaint is about event breaks... after every third or so event we’ll likely have a break. As I stated in the Updates thread, there will be a break after the Valentine’s event. I understand if this isn’t frequent enough for players, but unfortunately, Deca cannot provide a long break after every event because it greatly impacts DV’s revenue. If there’s no event and no new content, player retention also becomes a huge problem. It’s not an issue of greed, it’s about keeping the game running. A week-long break is akin to skipping a pay check for a week. Many people would struggle. Similarly, if a game is not profitable, it will struggle, then no longer exist. DV may be free to play, but it’s not free to operate.
The Game Reps have made a number of suggestions to help Deca break up the monotony of constant events (like mini-events), diversifying the event format (i.e., reinstating the Runic Breeding Caves), and other opportunities for revenue. They have considered these options and likely have their own ideas. But it will take time to implement a new or returning concept, so once again it comes back to the player’s patience. And there’s no guarantee players will see all the changes they desire or approve of every change made by Deca — but this is true for every mobile game out there.

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
I usually do the colosseum in the morning, so it’s ready to be collected now. Anyone know if it will reset again if I collect now?
The colosseum is independent of events and will go 23 hours from when started. If you want event currency I would wait to collect it until the start of the event.

It’s interesting to see players’ perspectives on the time change and their personal schedules and habits. We have a rep in Australia who’s totally amped about the time bump because he’s a night owl and will finally be awake at the start of an event.

I don’t know if it matters, but will soon find out hehe. When my start time was midday, I could play the same reset for two days. I’d play before bed and then the next morning catch all the mini game 12 hour rounds and selling eggs that incubated overnight. This worked great for me since I sometimes didn’t get a chance to play for the first time until after 5pm. My new reset is at 8am, and it’s now almost 10am now, so I guess I’ll pop over and see how the new event is going. Lol, I also always check in here first, for news, glitches, happenings, etc, before visiting my perk for the first time of the day. ☺️

My “Get used to it.” comment was in regards to RED saying that it was the 2nd time he had had a request turned down. How many of us have been dealt with in that manner? I know I have... I’ve gotten used to it. And, if DECA is answering us with “generic stock replies” then they really are “not willing to hear criticism or work on their customer service.”, doncha think?
I don’t think anyone knows how much revenue DV generates on a weekly basis but it must have been bringing in some serious cash when HASBRO bought/absorbed BFS and paid BFS owner that staggering amount. Things didn’t go downhill until HASBRO altered their game policies.
I’m sure DECA got to look at HASBRO’s books before they agreed to take DV over and decided that they, with their smaller staff, could turn a profit. Oh, and didn’t DECA hire at least one BFS person?
With HASBRO, the pressure from upper management to make MORE money (greed), caused them to implement their money making ideas which we, the DV players, responded to by spending even less. DECA knows how much money DV must earn for them, or at least they should. If running Events, one after another, is required for them to ‘stay afloat’ then they didn’t plan very well.
A delicate balance exists in keeping us happy (and spending reasonable amounts) and the game generating enough to pay their bills plus make a reasonable profit...I know that. At some point, under HASBRO, I stopped spending entirely but since DECA, I’ve started spending a little on DV again because they are doing a better job but their efforts simply can’t be devoted to new features; they need to correct problems too.

I don’t know what requests you made to Deca that were not granted, but requests are decided on a case-by-case basis, therefore not all will be fulfilled. Many players have received what they asked for, so it doesn’t appear players are being continuously denied and have to 'get used to it'.
As I said earlier, I’ve informed Deca of the generic stock reply overuse. They understood the problem and were willing to look into it. So yes, I think they’re open to criticism and making changes to improve their service. Whether those changes are satisfactory and meet our expectations is yet to be seen, but your statement that they are unwilling to hear from players to improve support isn’t really true.
As far as the revenue DV earned when it was owned by BFS, Hasbro, and Deca, we do not know those numbers, so debating it is speculation. And since it’s not possible to sway someone’s assumption or change their opinion without anything factual, it probably isn’t useful or helpful to discuss it further.
Sorry about that, but I think you understand. 😉

I can see DECA’s point about player retention without an event. I only play once or twice a day when there isn’t an event and I see how people might not play at all and drop DV. Deca probably has to do a lot of events to keep players and earn money. The best thing would be if they did the things you suggested adlerist, like mini events and the runic caves so it’s not always events or the same kind of event players won’t get as bored or burnt out.
I have asked Deca a question about breeding that they were not willing to answer b/c it went too much into how the game works and they don’t feel comfortable about that which I understand. They were very nice about it. I also asked them for gems when I was not getting gems at the colosseum and they actually gave me extra! 😃 I haven’t gotten generic replies so far the replies have been about what I’m asking but I’m sure they have to use generics get through all the emails they get b/c a lot of the emails probably say the same thing. I just thought I’d add my experience with support. It’s been very good so far.
