I thought the winner is the last person having not bred the dragon. You bought yours after Gweny bred hers. 

Maybe I got it wrong though.🤷🏻‍♀️

I think you won before you bought it.  I think past competitions as soon as you win you can buy it.  But I agree and we need Fletch_smf to make a ruling.
