The new Easter-springy decorations are notably stunning additions to the Vale!

Oh no, the Chrysalis Habitats cannot be bought with gems anymore! Given that the Aura Habitats and Omnitats were in the game market previously, is it a mistake that the Chrysalis, Monolith, and Harmonious Habitats are omitted?
Can someone help to ask DECA? Thanks!!
Yeah, I’ll let them know. Thanks!
Edit: just so you’re aware, it’s 1.30am over there, so I won’t hear anything until tomorrow at the earliest. But I’ll let you know!

Easter is not known for its great advise. Even though everyone knows not to put all your eggs in one basket, this is the sole purpose of an Easter basket.
So why do we celebrate the egg on Easter? Because pink rabbits hiding even pinker eggs is the Easter theatre required to welcome the drama of spring. Because the egg is the beginning, where dragons are born, when life begins, and the start of a good meringue.
1. The largest chrysalis habitat isn't named reward and doesn't mention not counting toward our habitat limit, so does the largest one count toward our limit or was it just an oversight?
2. Adlerist, I found your runic cave information very helpful as this is my first experience with them. What would be the easiest way to find a list of the locked combination dragons?
3. I have no monolith or chrysalis dragons in my rift. Other than purchasing generic epic eggs and crossing your fingers, is there any other way to get one of these elusive beasts for my rift?
Thank to everyone of the list for being the best group ever and to Deca for crafting this terrific event.
I can't believe my luck! I managed to breed a Snooz on my third attempt in the Coop Cave using my level 20 Poison and a friend's Snooz. It is fed up to level 20 and in my Coop Cave for breeding. Message me if we're not already friends and you want to have access to him. My Friend ID and link are in my signature below.
Thanks Fletch_smf , as always, for doing the breeding stats. It's very helpful in understanding how this all works.

I’ve had a crazy busy day and was only just able to visit my park, 8 hours or so after the event started. I’m a little overwhelmed by all those eggs and forgot all about the runic breeding caves so came here to see what’s what about the event and try to figure out what to try for first, I’m missing a lot of these dragons also. As I’m skimming through the thread, I came in upon this post and thought, cool, I needed to visit Fletch_smf’s page and write down the cloning combos. So I hopped over to my park to put a Poison up in Co-op with greggerman’s newly acquired Snooze. First try, up pops a 24 hour timer. I check the prize gallery, it matches Snooz, looks hopeful. I check the change icon, and sure enough a Snooz! 💤 Thanks bunches for posting greggerman and I’m adding my thanks along with yours to Fletch_smf 🙏🏻🐲🙏🏻🐲🙏🏻
Happy Egg Hunting All !

After returning home last spring to finish the school semester in quarantine, one of my kids asked me to start playing DV so I could send him daily gems. Well, little did I know that simple request would see me absolutely falling in love with this game. It is one of the first phone-based games I played for longer than a month. And the first event included - you guessed it - the Runic Breeding Caves! DV marks not only the first long-term phone game I ever played, but the first game ever that had me spending RL $!! For... you guessed it again... more Runestones! I am so excited to see them back since it takes me nostalgically "back to the beginning".
Thank you (and curse you) DECA for returning these lovely little caves to us. Gotta go check my bank balance now...
Bagmom
I love, love, love this story! ❤️❤️❤️
I am with you 100% on the Runic Breeding Caves. It is one of the greatest additions to game. And it’s so versatile. New players and long-timers both recognise the value of the RBCs. It even works great with the BEB. I’d love to see the RBCs as a regular, frequent feature in events.
Totally agree. Great story - does your kid still play Dragonvale BagMom or have they grown out of it?
Also very pleased to see the return of the Runic Breeding Caves. It was the Easter event last year when we saw them last. I hope that we will see them more often than once a year in future.
Ok I will totally read up on the RBCs after dinner (I'm cooking so can't stop now) but I have a few questions hopefully someone more up to date can help with: - how di I use the Prismatic Pantheon/how would I know how to find it if I did have it in my park? - is there a cap on the eggs from each method of collecting per day? I'm still getting some from habitats though I've collected a fair few - are there any strategies as to which I should try breeding for (normal/RBC/co-op)?There's so many available!

That's three questions, but who's counting?
I will only answer two (because I'm not sure of the answer to the first one.)
2. There is a link in the Encyclopaedia Dracontine which will take you to a spreadsheet with a list of all dragons needed for locked breeding combos as well as a sheet with all locked breeding combos Or just click here - Locked Breeding Combos
3. Monolith, Chrysalis and Galaxy dragons have their own Mystery Eggs in the rift which are occasionally available to purchase. This is the best way to get them. It would be very hit and miss to buy the generic mystery eggs. Because the Runic Breeding Caves are available this event, if you breed a Monolith/Chrysalis in a Runic Breeding Cave and you already have a normal twin of that dragon, you will be able to select a twin rift of that dragon. (Or, if you don't have a twin, you can select a normal twin and then a rifted twin)
For this event, that would be the best way to get a rifted Monolith or Chrysalis dragon.
BUT You can only select one dragon from each unlocked runic cave, so choose wisely. (At the moment there are two unlocked, so two choices). You can select your dragon up until the end of the event, just because the extra runic breeding cave will lock after seven days, you do not need to select your dragon before the end.

(Aside from what everyone else has written, monolith 1-5 are easy to breed, #6 is a nightmare. Buy it if you can. It looks innocent, but will absolutely waste weeks of your time.)

Golden chests are purchaseable for event currecy. Buying spins probably also nets a small number of items. It wouldn't be an egghunt though if those eggs couldn't result in either a free dragon or a golden chest... I pray.

I have some questions about this event: 1. What is the best strategy to farm those eggs? 2. How many eggs can be collected from habitats? Because mine stopped giving me eggs out of nowhere. 3. Do you have an ideal purchase order for dragons? I already have the monoliths that aren't evolutions, the five chrysalis dragons needed to breed all the others, the ovalite and some others. Thanks to everyone that is building this page!

Anyone know what the cost to upgrade the Monolith Reward Habitat to a Large Monolith Reward Habitat is? IIRC it was only dragoncash to enlarge it earlier.
I know that adlerist has put a link to the thread with the first event with runic caves. But for those with little time I give a summary here.
There are 10 runic caves in this event. One is open the whole event. The second will be available on double currency days. And if we will get triple days then a third one will be open. The last two ones are only available on double/triple days. The other caves have to be opened with a rune stone. Each rune stone will open one cave for 7 days. Rune stones can be bought with real money. Maybe we will be awarded one later in the event, either from a game or from daily present, but this is not clear. You can see that a cave is open by the enlighted lamps. If a cave closes and you have a dragon pair in it, the breed will finish immediately.
The breeding times in the caves are a lot shorter. (Was it 20% or 25% of the whole time?) When you breed in the caves, you won't get the dragon/egg immediately. Instead the eggs go into the cave history. And for each cave that has been open during the event, you can select one dragon out of this history. All caves fill the same history. You can claim a dragon that has been bred in cave 1 by using your free claim of cave 2. If you open a cave several times during the event, it won't give you two claims. So if you want to open additional caves, be sure to open different ones to maximize your claims. Claims can be made even after the cave has closed until the end of the event. But choose your dragons before the end of the event currency collecting time. When the collection of event currency ends we will still have those 2 days to spend event currency, but the runic caves will have gone at that time, and in that case you won't be able to choose your claim.
In addition to the claim of a dragon from the cave history, the breed in a cave gives event currency. You will get a small amount of currency proportional to the duration of the breed and 100 eggs for every egg that is new to the history. You can look up the egg history to see which eggs you have already bred. There is also a button to see or hide the possible other eggs. Mixed with the use of the filter this gives you a good information with which elements you will likely get a new egg.
When you claim your dragon, it will be a normal dragon, if you don't already have it in your park. If you have one, you will get a normal twin. And if you already have a normal twin then you will get a rifted twin. So this is a great opportunity to get rifted dragons that you can't breed / don't have in the rift. For example Monolith or Chrysalis dragons. You also can claim the same dragon several times. So you can get a twin with your first claim and a rifted twin with your second claim. But remember that your claims are limited to the a amount of opened caves (maximum of 10). For the determination whether you will get normal/twin/rifted twin it is not important if you have a normal or twin in your park at the time you breed the egg in the cave but if you have it at the time when you claim your egg. So if you have a normal x and you want it in the rift and you have been successful to breed it in a runic cave, it might be good advise to try to clone x in your coop to try to get a twin. Then you would only need one claim to get a rifted x.

Is it currently known if you can breed Galaxy dragons in the runic caves such that they can be an outcome? You've always been able to use them as parents, but you'd never get a Galaxy result....except that they changed the rules somewhat the last time they released new Galaxies, and I didn't know if it would have any impact on the runic caves.
One of my parks is missing a few of the standard Galaxies in the rift, and with Galaxy eggs costing over 50k etherium (and rising, presumably) on the rare occasions they have them, this is the only feasible way to get them in there. (adlerist , that might be something to nudge Deca about before the summer events: if you're missing Snowflake, Monolith, or Chrysalis rift dragons, they can all be bred eventually by buying a few seed eggs in the rift, but the Galaxies can’t be. And with the price of eggs not even resetting between events - which seems particularly unfair - it gets to be a massive investment to even try, for less than a 5% chance. There are games out there that thrive on the pressure for that kind of RNG gambling, but DragonVale has never really been one of them.)

Sadly they will not be an outcome if they have you need another galaxy in the breeding hint. Lunis and Solis can be cloned if you have at least one.

By far and away my best start to an event. I’m about to go to sleep with a haul of over 3700 eggs which I’m really egg-cited about! I’ve got two massive days at work so this really sets me up. Spent $20 on 3 extra caves so I have 5 working for me. Hopefully one of them produces an Ovalith so I can get rift-twins. Koala to all!!
Breeding Target: Ovalith. It's ALWAYS Ovalith! Hoarded gems as a safety net to ensure an Ovalith during BEB, but I'm not sure if I want to spend them: I think I want the thrill of breeding it! Gems wasted on speeding up Ovalith breeding/incubation: 2890
If there's really no way to get more Runestones besides buying them with real money, I might as well give up some cash... If I still have more epic/rares I don't have.
Speaking of: I just bred a Traited Flowerhop! (Once again prefer if no trait this time...) But the surprising part is that it has a swimming animation! And it's not even Water element!
On the bright side, I'm off to a good start. Got Clairvoyant and Flowerhop (Really would prefer no trait, but too late.) And got a Rhinotorch in the cave (it's permanent, but still)
I know that adlerist has put a link to the thread with the first event with runic caves. But for those with little time I give a summary here.
amos linked the thread with the first event that featured the RBCs. Thank you Amos! I linked my strategy post from the last event with RBCs, and the link to the event FAQs, which has an explanation of the RBCs.
For anyone who needs the info, here’s the post and the links to the strategy and FAQs:
Since this is my first event that I've heard of the new Runic Breeding Cave, someone explain to me how does that work. Is there a way to earn more Runestones besides buying?
I should be tempted to breeding the rest of the Chrysalis Dragons there...
And a P.S. is it any better than any of the events back in 2018, the year I quit?
Know that this well-organized forum (thanks to our very hard-working mods) has a runic cave tutorial. I have forgotten everything (well, mostly everything) about how it works. Is it in the ENCYCLOPAEDIA DRACONTINE ? I could not find anything there. Any place else i could search for a refresher course on how we did the runic caves ?🧐 Thanks 😃👍🏻
The forum doesn’t have written instructions on how to use the Runic Breeding Caves (RBCs). I posted this strategy last year about how I maximise the usage of the RBCs and minimise duplicate breeding fails. It’s always a fun, weird goal of mine to try and breed every dragon in the RBCs so the RBC Egg History is complete. I’ve come really close, but ran out of time with only 3 dragons (2 Monoliths and 1 Snowflake) left.
The event’s FAQs has a section on the RBCs that’s more how-to instructional.
