1. 4.5 2. 3 - Feels a little bare compared to other dragons 3. Unknown (I don’t own/nobody I’m friends with owns it) 4. 4 - Fair 5. 4 - Gives vibes of the theme but could be more pirate-y 6. 3.5 - Too much is happening in the design 7. 3 - Not my style, it’s alright 8. Borb (Reposting so it’s on my account)
5. Theme: 5 Can't have a pirate event without a parrot.
6. Attention to detail: 5
7. Likability: 5
8. Really like this parrot/dragon. Love the colours and the eye patch touch. Although I'm disappointed that no matter which way Gawk is facing the eye patch is always on his 'off-side' so you never see it. This doesn't show in the animation as he is only ever facing one way, you need to look at it in the habitat.
Gawk 1. 4 2. NA don’t have one 3. 4 4. 4 5. 5 fits well, every pirate need a “parrot” 6. 5. Love all the colors and the eye patch 7. 5. Like him very much…had a parrot for 36 years, reminds me of her!

1. Animation = 3
2. Rift trait = 3
3. Size = 5
4. Price = 4
5. Theme = 5
6. Attention to detail = 5
7. How much do you like Gawk = 5
8. Comments I really like the parrot for the pirate event. Thanks to Adlerist who posted the bird of paradise plant connection with Gawk (a bird in a paradise event), I like Gawk even more, and its bright bird of paradise colors! I think the Rift trait could be more and there could’ve been more in the flying animation but he’s really cute and I like him a lot!

1. 4 Good but not as smooth as other dragons 2. 5 perfect placement and amount. It provides the feel of the trait well without over doing it 3. 5 it is the right size to me 4. 4 Price seems a little expensive even though it is new 5. 5 Fits perfect being a parrot with a pirate theme 6. 5 Very detailed and detailed well 7. 4 cool and well made dragon but I like other dragons more than a giant parrot
1. Animation looks fine 4 2. Rift trait is a nice accent since more would have been overwhelming on such a brightly plumed dragon 5 3. Size is just right compared to the similar level Platinum and Misfortune dragons 5 4. Price is already pretty high 2 5. Event theme is spot on with the pretty eye-patched pirate parrot 5 6. Attention to detail 5 7. How much do you like Gawk? 3 8. I initially didn't like Gawk, but it's grown on me now
1. 5 2. 5 3. 5 4. 3 5. 5 6. 5 7. 5 8. Love the bird of paradise theme. They still need ton work on balancing the breeding odds. Long fails with low breeding odds are discouraging.
1. Animation quality: 4. It's fine 2. Rift trait: 4. Looks fine, maybe a bit clashing on the horns but a lot of rift traits do that 3. Size: 3, maybe slightly big 4. Price: 3. pricey like all the limited dragons seem to be 5. Theme: 4. It fits 6. Attention to detail: 3. The eyepatch is a cool detail but the rest seems a little cluttered 7. How much I like it: 2. Sorry, I don't like it, there's a few too many colours and they all clash!
1. Animation: 4/5 I think there could’ve been a little more but it is good not every dragon has Prestige animation.
2. Rift trait: 4/5 The lightning trait looks really good! It’s probably the best trait since there isn’t much added to the dragon so it wouldn’t be very noticeable. Gawk has a lot of bright colors so I guess it’s not necessary to have too much trait color added.
3. Size: 5/5
4. Price: 4/5
5. Theme: 5/5 It’s a pirate parrot!! Perfect fit!
6. Detail: 5/5
7. Like: 5
8. I know people don’t like animal dragons but I think it’s good if there’s some animal-like dragons as long as it fits the theme. I like the bright parrot / bird of paradise colors. And the baby is really cute. Its expression makes me laugh!
Animations are fine; I think the little dance is a bit odd but the flying is great. 4/5
Trait placement is great; not to little and not too much. 5/5
Size is great as well. I love that it's not way oversized when compared with the visitors but is still large enough to not look out of place. 5/5
Price is fine, just barely doable for me (at max level). 4/5
It definitely fits into the theme! It's a pirate's parrot. 5/5
I feel like it's a bit chaotic and doesn't flow as well as other designs. Then again, it is a parrot, so that complaint could be written off. 3/5
I wish that Gawk felt more like a dragon. It's too parrot-y for me. One point for the horns and one point for the bird of paradise reference. 2/5
Overall, I feel like Gawk was a missed opportunity to bring in a brightly colored dragon that could be explained as the wizard's equivalent of a parrot. If DECA had kept the colors and made the dragon much less of a parrot, it could have been such an amazing concept. Unfortunately, that is not the case and Gawk is one of my least favorite dragons of this event.

1. Animation quality - 4 (They do their job, just nothing that interesting.) 2. Trait placement - 5 3. Size - 5 (It's fine for what its based on.) 4. Price - 3 5. Theming - 5 6. Attention to detail - 4 7. How much I like it - 2 8. I get why we have a parrot dragon in a pirate event, but the amount of parrot dragons feels oversaturated to me. We already have the party dragon, the monte dragon, and the karroot dragon for parrots. Instead of a 4th parrot dragon, a pirate-themed enhancement for one of the already existing parrot dragons would've been cool.
Edit: lol whoops Toco isn't a parrot

1. Rate Gawk’s animation quality
The animation quality is good. I like the way it bounces and does a little dance. Very cute and playful. --- Giving it a score of 5.
2. How would you rate Gawk’s Rift trait placement and look.
I think it looks nice because it gives him some colorful highlights on his chest, wingtips and tail feathers. Not too thrilled with the trait placement on his horns, though. --- Giving it a score of 4.
3. Please rate Gawk’s size.
A nice medium size, perfect for smaller habitats and regular ones too. --- Giving it a score of 5.
4. Rate Gawk’s price (12,500 Doubloons)
Fair enough for an epic treasure dragon, I suppose. --- Giving it a score of 4.
5. How well does Gawk fit the theme of the event?
He fits in perfectly, of course. Although I think he looks more like a parakeet than a parrot. 🤭🦜🌴 --- Giving it a score of 5.
6. Rate the attention to detail in Gawk’s design
I think the spiral horns could have used a little more detail. But the feathers and wings look very good. --- Giving it a score of 4.
7. How much do you like Gawk?
I really like this little critter. He's so jolly and colorful. --- Giving it a score of 5.
We share our physical lives with those in spirit. For life, like love, never dies. Love knows no limits, not even death.
Gawk 1. 4 2. 4 3. 5 4. 4 5. 5 6. 5 7. 5 8. The baby reminds me of Tweety.. 😄… and I am also a bit disappointed that I cannot see how the entire eye patch looks…
Gawk Please rate on a scale of 1 to 5. 1 = worst, 5 = best. 1. 4 (animation quality) 2. 5 (rift trait placement and look) 3. 4 (size) 4. 3 (price 12.500 doubloons) 5. 5 (fit with event theme) 6. 4 (attention to detail design) 7. 4 (how much do you like) 8. I like the “pecking for food animation”, would like it if Gawk also did this when in habitat. Gawk being a bit on the smaller size fits perfectly with it representing a parrot, but in the same habitat with Alure, Gawk should have been smaller. (opt. additional feedback)
1.) Animation: 5 (Great animation! I think it's perfect for a bird themed dragon. I LOVE THAT IT HOPS)
2.) Rift Trait: 4 (Perfect trait placement, only nitpick is that its a bit scattered all over the dragon, but the amount of trait being shown seems just right.)
3.) Size: 5 (I think the size is perfect.)
4.) Price: 5 (For the first limited dragon, I think this is a good price. It slightly above my 12,000 threshold, but I think its fine since its breedable during the time it can be bought.)
5.) Theme Representation: 3 (I love birds, I love parrots, and I understand Pirates had parrots, however, I feel its too vibrantly colored for it to match the pirate theme. The eye-patch helps a bit.)
6.) Design Details: 5 (I love the colors, I love the cute little eye-patch, and I LOVE THAT IT HOPS, my bird always hopped whenever he walked it was so funny I love it.)
7.) Likeability: 5 (I love this little guy so much, its a birb. What is there to not love?)
8.) I love birds. From my dragonvale fan perspective, I feel there shouldn't be too many animal themed dragons, especially if they have extreme similarities, such as parrots. I also think the baby form of this dragon is a bit awkward, Its cute as heck, but seems weird idk.
4/5 There isn’t much going on, but I don’t think every animation for every dragon needs to be over the top.
2. Rift trait placement
5/5 So nice it isn’t overwhelming.
3. Gawk’s size
5/5 Bird-sized
4. Gawk’s price (12,500 Doubloons)
4/5 The price of the first limited always sets the upwards pace of the remaining limiteds.
5. Theme
5/5 I can’t think of pirates without thinking of parrots.
6. Design detail
5/5
7. How much do you like Gawk?
4/5 I know Gawk is controversial, and if it hadn’t been for the pirate theme it likely wouldn’t work. But given the circumstances, I don’t mind this horned bird.
8. Add any additional comments or feedback (OPTIONAL).
Love the bird of paradise reference and incorporating its dual definition of the bird and the flower. The bird of paradise floral colouring works perfectly for Gawk’s parrot-ness. There is a bird called the Bird of Paradise, which isn’t a parrot. Instead, this bird of paradise is literally a bird in the Paradise event. I like how Deca went with the less obvious reference for 'bird of paradise' on both accounts.

Oh geez, I've fallen behind quite a bit on these threads! I must pick up my pace if I ever want to rate all of the dragons in this event! I suppose it would be best to go in order, so that means Gawk is up this time!
No time to spare!
1. Rate Gawk's animation quality:5/5
This category was a bit tricky to rate for the Gawk dragon. In terms of overall quality, everything works out just fine! The dragon moves how I would expect it to move, and the animations are quite smooth. I particularly appreciate how the tail feathers have a sort of "bounce" to them. This small little detail helps to add a pinch of extra life to the Gawk dragon without making it look stiff. I would definitely take note of this and apply the trick to future dragons.
As for the animations content-wise, this was where I was torn. The Gawk dragon's animations aren't particularly eye-popping or exciting, and I almost took a point off for this. However, rewatching the provided clip a few times, I managed to loosen up. There are three unique animations for the Gawk dragon: pecking the ground, doing a little dance, and gliding in the sky. I feel like there's potential for a fourth animation to really bring out the dragon's parrot and/or pirate side, but I'll take what was given. They're still good animations that would be characteristic of a parrot dragon. Good work!
2. Rate Gawk's Rift trait placement and appearance:4/5
Oh, this is actually the first time I'll be rating a new dragon's Rift trait! How should I go about this? Hmm... I'm going to break this section into two segments: placement and appearance.
Let's start with placement. The Gawk dragon has a lot of different colors in its design, complete with several smaller bunches of color. I can imagine deciding where its Rift trait would show was pretty difficult for the design team. After all, if you place it in the wrong spot--or put too much in one area--it can ruin the design of the dragon, especially for a dragon like Gawk with so many colors! I think the final version we got works about as well as it could've. I can't think of very many other places I would've put the Rift trait without it being boring or too overwhelming, so you get my stamp of approval.
Now for actual appearance. As mentioned before, the Gawk dragon consists of several different colors. Not every Rift trait is going to look nice on this dragon, particularly because of how the Rift trait placement consists of small little specks here and there. Several of the Rift traits clash with the rest of the dragon's natural colors, which makes for a not-so-pretty final result. That being said, there are a few that manage to look appealing. I personally have an Air trait Gawk dragon, which looks alright, and I can imagine Cold would hold similar appeal because of the less intense hue. Fire and Light would possibly match with the Gawk dragon's natural colors as well. Darker or more intense Rift traits like Lightning or Plant, on the other hand, clash too much. Overall, the Rift trait is not completely perfect, but it's surprisingly nice.
3. Please rate Gawk's size:5/5
With the Gawk dragon's debut, the trend of giant dragons from Pirates in Paradise comes to an end. However, not all has been lost! The Gawk dragon is a simple parrot dragon, and parrots aren't known for towering over humans. I think the dragon is perfectly sized for what it is! Very friend sized.
4. Rate Gawk's price (12,500 Doubloons):5/5
Hm, this little birdie is worth more than a few pennies, it would seem. As the first limited dragon of the event, I'd say its price is... actually somewhat justified. The Gawk dragon is an Epic-class dragon, so naturally it deserves to be a bit expensive. Additionally, because of how the event is structured, players have had an entire week to save up for it in addition to the dragon's one week availability window. The Gawk dragon's breeding combo--Regal and Gold--is also somewhat merciful given the theme of the breeding combos for the rest of the event's limited dragons. For this, I'm willing to be more open-minded for this category. You win this time, Deca Games.
5. How well does Gawk fit the theme of the event?:5/5
Come on, this question is too easy! The Gawk dragon fits perfectly well in the event! It's a pirate parrot! There's nothing more to be said here.
6. Rate the attention to detail in Gawk's design:5/5
Alright, so from what I have heard, the Gawk dragon is partially based on the real world bird of paradise flower, and man... that's so clever! The Gawk dragon is based on a parrot--a bird associated with tropical paradise--and debuted in the Pirates in Paradise event, so the fact that it is also inspired on that specific flower makes it a triple bird of paradise! Just for that, I have to give the design team extra appreciation. I can tell that they put in a lot of thought into the Gawk dragon's design. There's also other details that I like as well, such as the nautilus shell on its head and the head feathers resembling those you'd find on a pirate captain's hat. Overall, the design is well-thought and appealing to look at.
7. How much do you like Gawk?3/5
All that said.. the Gawk dragon is okay. I actually didn't really like it very much when it first debuted, but overtime, I warmed up a bit. Additionally, all of the little details that I've covered throughout this post have made me appreciate it more than I initially did. That being said, what stops me from rating this category higher despite the other previous high scores is, well...
The Gawk dragon suffers from what I like to call "good character design, not-so-good dragon design" syndrome. What I mean by this is that while the design itself is excellent, it doesn't quite sit well with me as a dragon specifically. Dragons inspired by real world animals aren't a crime against humanity, and they can be done quite well! I actually think doing this can make DragonVale as a whole unique from other dragon games! However, this is a very sharp double-edged sword. It's no surprise that dragons that are "just animals" are pretty disliked in the community. Remember how people reacted to Tundral Rumble and its dragon lineup? Yeah...
While the Gawk dragon is nowhere near the worse instance of a "just animal" dragon--I actually think it's one of the better ones--I think it could've been executed better. I do appreciate that the Gawk dragon isn't just the Party dragon in a pirate-themed coat of paint, and I'm sure the existence of the Party dragon made designing the Gawk dragon extra challenging, but I also believe that there could've been just a few more dragon features. What defines a dragon is incredibly loose, so I can't provide a specific example of what I'm talking about, but just a pinch of extra imagination could've brought the Gawk dragon from "just okay" to "absolutely incredible." This is why I've given this category the rating it has, in addition to the fact that I personally don't have strong feelings for or against the Gawk dragon.
8. Additional comments and feedback
I've covered pretty much every detail I wanted to in the other categories, so I don't have much else to say here. I will say that while I personally prefer the Party dragon as DragonVale's best parrot dragon, the Gawk dragon is still a nice alternative take on the concept. I appreciate the attempt on Deca Games' part to add to the collection of colorful bird dragons.
Ah, that took a good while to type up! Hopefully I don't end up spending this much time on the other dragons... not because I don't like typing a bunch! I just need to pick up my pace to meet the August 4th deadline! Wish me luck, I suppose!
6. How much do you like Gawk - 5 - fun, gorgeous colors, puts a smile on my face every time!
7. Comments/feedback for Deca Beautiful job! Really wish you had added a cracker to his animation or something else special because he is absolutely perfect otherwise! Just LOVE him!❤️ Always makes me smile! Kudos!
