Please give a jovial and generous welcome to the DragonVale Discord players! The DV Discord server is in the process of developing a method for their players to rate the new event dragons. In the meantime, they have been invited to post their feedback on the Rate a Dragon threads.
If any new guests or members from Discord or elsewhere have questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We have your favourite food prepared, a bouncy castle, and puppies and kittens galore awaiting your arrival. And if you want, you can say hello on the forum’s Welcome board.

The stunningly talented Discord player Stringless Worms created the Ikatako dragon for Deca’s Community Design Contest. Here’s a wonderful comparison of Stringless Worm’s contest submission for the Submerged Dragon and Deca’s Ikatako Dragon.

1. I love the roaring, rearing, and swimming, but I don't completely understand the bucket reference. 4/5
2. A bit large, but it fits what the dragon is. 4/5
3. Reasonable price for a rare non-limited dragon. 5/5
4. It's a sea monster- plays more on the ocean than pirates, so it's a solid 4/5
5. I love all of the little details (looks like Cthulhu) and the little details look great, especially in StringlessWorms' concept. If the final design matched the original a bit more, I think this dragon would be even better. 4/5
6. Out of the new non-limited event dragons, I like it better than Zilla but less than Ahoy. Overall, I feel as if the design does its job and that the dragon fits the DV theme fairly well. 4/5
7. I wish DECA had kept more of the color scheme and design of the original Submerged Dragon but I do like their version as well. I feel like DECA has definitely eased into the DV style while still including their own touches.

1. Animation - 5/5 2. Size - 4/5 (Yay for not being puny, but it's based on an eldritch god so it could probably stand to be bigger ) 3. Price - 5/5 4. Thematic accuracy - 4/5 5. Attention to detail - 3/5 (I agree with OboeKade above, this score is mostly because of its proportions. I liked the body proportions of the original submerged dragon better, with the smaller head and slightly longer body and tail. Ikatako would also look cooler if it had the things sticking out of its back like the submerged dragon, along with the head horns/tentacles/frills.) 6. How much I like it - 3/5 (I still like it a lot, and it's really cool that Deca chose Worms' submerged dragon to implement, I just think it looks plainer and more compressed compared to the original.)

1. The animation is great! I especially like the racing animation, makes it looks like a gentleman 5/5 2. Size is decent, but I think it’d looks better scaled up to like Ahoy’s size, 4/5 3. The price is decent! 4/5 4. Ikatako being like a kraken or Cthulhu, I think it fits well! 5/5 5. Details good, but I’m gonna have to agree with a few people here. The proportions and body parts that stuck out of the original design would make it cooler. 3/5 6. I’ve loved it ever since the contest, so 5/5 7. I wish more of the original parts were added, it kinda looks plain and bald without the extra tentacles and stuff that were present in the original.
1. The only notable animation of this dragon is when it goes inside a barrel. Even then, I feel that it should be stay on the baby and only the baby. 3.5/5
2. I guess it does have a reason to be really big. It's a sea monster based on Cthulhu after all, not just the octopus. Still think it should be a little smaller. 4.5/5
3. Cheaper than the other pernament event dragons. But still, lower the prize by 200 Doubloon. 3/5.
4. More sea monsters for the pirates to harpoon! Still disappointed there will be no Moby Dick Dragon. 5/5
5. I like the contest design better. Stripping that all away makes the dragon not appeal to me and look boring. 1/5
6. I honestly hate it. Doesn't help that this dragon gave me too much trouble trying to Co-op the thing. Remind me again, why did I decide to try this in Co-op where I could have use that to clone untraited dragons? (Most notably Bright Wild Nights Dragons) 1/5
7. Hoesntly wish this dragon has more design aspects from the contest design. That's it.
1. Animation: 4.5 I'm getting a little tired of all the props blinking into and out of existence. once in a while if there's a good reason for it is fine, but I don't see much purpose in the barrels. Still, it's well done so I'm only taking a half point off
2. Size (if you don’t own Ikatako, please check a friend’s park): 5
3. Price (9,250 Doubloons): 5
4. How well does Ikatako fit the theme: besides the cthulu and octopus aspects, he looks like the guy in Pirates of the Caribbean, so it's a good fit, 5
5. Design details 5
6. How much do you like Ikatako? 5
7. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) I haven't seen the other contest submissions, but this was an excellent choice to add to the game. The original design is great, and I also like the tweaks to shape and color done to make the head look more octopus-y
Ikatako 1. 5/5 I don’t get it but I like it. 2. 3/5 I get it but I don’t like it. Too big. 3. 4/5 Reasonable price. 4. 5/5 Part sea monster part octopus, good fit. I didn’t know about Cthulhu (am I the only one!?) so that was lost on me. 5. 4/5 Kudos to the original designer. I like what DECA did with the head but wish they’d kept the anchor. 6. 3/5 Not for me but that’s okay (obviously!)
1. Animation - 5 (Normally I dislike props but this is cute) 2. Size - 3 (sorry, a bit too big for me) 3. Price - 3 4. Thematic accuracy - 4 5. Attention to detail - 4 (I like how they Dragonvale-d the original design, but I liked the original's head more) 6. How much I like it - 5 (A real stand-out for this event!)

IKATAKO DRAGON
1. Animation
The animation is good. I like the way he roars and bounces into the barrel. --- Giving it a score of 5.
2. Size (if you don’t own Ikatako, please check a friend’s park)
His size is just about right, I'd say. He doesn't get gigantic in his adolescent stage. So it's easier to make him fit in smaller habitats. --- Giving it a score of 4.
3. Price (9,250 Doubloons)
The price is good. I'm satisfied with it. 😊 --- Giving it a score of 5.
4. How well does Ikatako fit the theme
He's a squishy, cuddly sea critter, so he fits in perfectly. --- Giving it a score of 5.
5. Design details
I think original design by Stringless Worms was better. Their design was simply amazing. I feel as though Ikatako was stripped of his unique details (chain and anchor on tail, treasure peeking out from under the algee, broken mast and boards along his back) in the finalized DECA version. --- Giving it a score of 3.
6. How much do you like Ikatako?
Is it just me, or does Ikatako come across as being fairly cute? Maybe it's just me. ♥️ --- Giving it a score of 4.
7. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional)
I think this dragon needs some elements of the original design added to it. Stringless Worms had an incredible design, and while the finished product is really nice, it could have been better if it looked more like the original.

1. 5 2. 5 3. 5 4. 5 5. 5 6. 5 7. I rarely give high marks in all categories. This one hits all for me. The baby version is really cute. I love the barrel. It fits the theme very well.
