ALURE DRAGON
1. Animation
Very smooth and fluid. --- Giving it a score of 5.
2. Rift trait
I believe that less is more. The placement of the rift trait is nice and gives it a subtle hint of sparkling color that is very pretty. Good job on this one. --- Giving it a score of 5.
3. Size (if you don’t own Alure, please check a friend’s park)
Just a little on the large side, but it's okay if I leave it in its juvenile stage. --- Giving it a score of 4.
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons)
It's a little pricey, but not too bad. Could stand to be a little cheaper, maybe shave 500 doubloons off the price. --- Giving it a score of 3.
5. How well does Alure fit the theme
I think it fits in perfectly. Such a beautiful sea creature. --- Giving it a score of 5.
6. Design details
I know everyone says it's supposed to be a Siren, but it honestly looks more like a beta fish. Which I love. 💕 The fins, flowing style and graceful movements are so pretty. Someone obviously put a lot of work into this one and it shows. --- Giving it a score of 5.
7. How much do you like Alure
Let's put it this way - I want a whole fishtank full of Alure dragons so I can sit back and admire them. --- Giving it a score of 4.

Animation-3.5 swims but boring Rift-3 Since-5 not too big Price-4 getting up there Theme-3.5 not really pirate theme but definitely a water theme Detail-4. Love the colors and movement on this dragon Like-4.5
5/5 Not quite as bad as Lazuli, but Alure does float away off the screen for a little while. But does so very gracefully.
2. Rift trait
3/5 The trait is a little too subtle. More colour in the tail and hair would help change Alure’s appearance more.
3. Alure’s size
5/5
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons)
4/5
5. How well does Alure fit the theme
5/5 The Sirens! This is the perfect mythological creature for a seafaring event.
6. Design details
5/5 Very beautiful, not quite as terrifying as a Siren, but the long fin-hair does give it a Medusa look.
7. How much do you like Alure
5/5
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional)
Colouring Alure’s pupil-less and iris-less eyes could’ve given it a more frightening appearance. I know players would have disapproved of a human/fish mermaid, so I’m glad Deca dragon-ised it!
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional): This dragon is very pretty and I like The Sirens reference (thanks adlerist!). Even though it doesn’t have any bird or fish (mermaid) elements to it that are usually associated with The Sirens, the dragon has a mythological feel to it.
1. Animation 4 reminds me a bit of an Angelfish which is fine, is lovely but is lacking that ‘special’ extra DECA usually adds
2. Rift trait 5
3. Size (if you don’t own Alure, please check a friend’s park) 5
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons) 5
5. How well does Alure fit the theme 5
6. Design details 5 - beautiful, elegant, graceful; definitely not a scary, vengeful-type siren
7. How much do you like Alure 5
8. Comments/feedback for Deca - Truly beautiful! Lovely lovely dragon! Really like it. …would have loved that ‘extra’ animation - animation seems a tad ordinary compared to your usual standard

Alright, maybe I can squeeze in one more Rate a Dragon post today. Let's continue the train with Yarr!
...what's that? This isn't Yarr's page? I'm not there yet? Huh, I suppose I'll just rate Alure instead.
Let's dive into it!
1. Rate Alure's animation quality:4/5
Another air-swimmer, eh? I see, I see... I think the Alure dragon's animations are actually quite nice. The way it swims is pretty graceful, even if it likes to occasionally leave the Dragonarium info box. It's not as big of an offender in that category as the Lazuli dragon was though, so the Alure dragon does get extra points for obeying the laws of the game display. Also, I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how the Alure dragon doesn't seem stiff when it moves. With a body type like the one it has, I wasn't sure if I was going to be disappointed, but I thankfully wasn't! Analyzing the animations frame by frame, the dragon's body does move as it should when it zips around, which I love to see.
My only criticism is the Alure dragon's secret pair of wings, specifically how they aren't utilized much at all. There is only one animation where these wings show, which is honestly a shame. I feel like such a major detail of the dragon would be more prevalent in its animations. I think they could have unfurled in a few more animations, like perhaps having them flare out whenever the Alure dragon roars or tries to appear intimidating. After all, it's meant to be a living nightmare, and a lot of animals in real life will try to make themselves look bigger to appear more menacing. I think this would have been cool to utilize for the Alure dragon.
2. Rate Alure's Rift trait placement and appearance:3/5
The Alure dragon's design unfortunately doesn't really leave much room for a Rift trait to be displayed. I suppose what we got was about as much as we could've gotten without going overboard and ruining the original design. However, I think this dragon has a case of an overly subtle Rift trait placement. When paired with a bright colored trait like Light or Cold, it produces a nice shimmer effect on the dragon's body that's quite pretty. However, for dark colored traits like Dark or traits that blend in more like Air, the trait goes almost completely unnoticed. While there's no need to base a dragon's design around something as trivial as a Rift trait (unless it's specifically a Rift dragon), I think it's something that should be kept in mind when designing a dragon.
3. Please rate Alure's size:4/5
The Alure dragon is a siren, and sirens tend to be about the same size as humans. Of course, the Alure dragon isn't a human, so instead I must compare it with the average size of DragonVale's dragons. I'd say that the Alure dragon is pretty close to average size, but I think it could've been bigger. Its in-game description describes it to be "as beautiful as a dream and as scary as a nightmare." It's already a pretty dragon, so I think making it bigger would cater to the nightmarish side of the dragon as well. Imagine sailing through the ocean, being enchanted by a mysterious song, and being lured to the hideout of a giant siren dragon. Scary, right?
4. Rate Alure's price (14,000 Doubloons):3/5
And the prices keep rising still. Like the dragons that have come before it, the Alure dragon's nature as an Epic-class dragon does usually warrant a high price tag. However, we're starting to get into some unfavorable territory here. 14,000 doubloons is breaching the line between a price that's reasonable and a price that's just unfair. The breeding combo for the Alure dragon consists of the Djinni dragon and the Silver dragon, with the Djinni dragon specifically having low odds to be obtained in breeding. While this breeding combo isn't as challenging as the Lazuli and Trove dragons' combos, the Alure dragon isn't much more merciful than its predecessors. I think it should have had a lower price than what it got, even if it is partially justified by its rarity.
5. How well does Alure fit the theme of the event?:5/5
While sirens tend to be associated more with sailors in general than pirates specifically, I believe the Alure dragon is right at home among the other Pirates in Paradise dragons. Any properly trained adventurer would know that the threat of being lured into a trap by the mythical sirens' song is always prevalent, and such is true even in the Vale. Of course, the dragons in DragonVale are mostly friendly, so maybe the Alure dragon is trying to obtain friends? I sure hope that's the reason... I would hate to be doomed because of a dragon like Alure.
6. Rate the attention to detail in Alure's design:5/5
While the sirens in old mythology were more like birds than fish, the modern day siren in most pieces media tends to closely resemble a mermaid. The Alure dragon clearly takes inspiration from the modern adaptation, and it actually manages to pull it off. Sirens tend to be very human-like, which wouldn't make sense for a dragon. However, the Alure dragon manages to perfectly capture what a dragon-themed siren would look like. It's not overly humanoid, and it feels like a real creature that I could find in the ocean. The colors also flow together nicely, with the streaks in the fins adding texture to them without making them overly detailed. The hidden set of wings are also cool, even if they aren't on display very often. I think the only thing about the Alure dragon's design that I would change is its arms. I'd probably make them just a bit less human-like in proportion, and maybe adjust the arm fins as well. However, this is a pretty small nitpick, so the Alure dragon can keep its rating in this category.
Also, when the Alure dragon first came out, I saw a few people get frustrated that its name was spelled "Alure" and not "Allure." However, I disagree with these people. I think the spelling we got is clever. Not only is the Alure dragon alluring, but it also serves as... wait for it... a lure! Haha! A-lure! It's an alluring lure dragon! That's so clever!
7. How much do you like Alure?:5/5
No fair! I have to decide how much I like a purple dragon! Deca Games ought to know better than to try and sway my vote with my favorite color!
All jokes aside, I think the Alure dragon is really nice overall. While I am a bit sad that the fanmade Mermaid dragon from the Ahoy Community Contest didn't get in instead, the inevitable mermaid/siren dragon we ended up with is still a nice addition to the game. For one, it's purple, so I'm inclined to like it just for that. It's also an elegant design fitting for what it's meant to be. I could see how it would be hard to resist its song with an appearance like that. I also like the Alure dragon's fins since they remind me of a betta fish, a fish that I really like because it also has pretty fins. I think I may be spellbound by this dragon... oh no. Am I in trouble? Am I going to perish at sea now? Nooo!
8. Additional comments and feedback
By any chance, did the person or people who designed the Atramento and Glasswing dragons design the Alure dragon as well? I've noticed some repeating design quirks in those three dragons. The color blending is very distinct, with more realistic shading and a watercolor-like style in addition to the dragons having streaks and gradients of color on their bodies. While those three dragons aren't the only ones like this, I would like to also point out some other similar details between them. They have similar head shapes, complete with ears and a set of small horns. The bodies are slender with thin limbs, and for the Glasswing and Alure dragons, there are additional parts protruding from said limbs.
There's nothing wrong with having dragons with similar features! I just thought it was an interesting thing I noticed. Some artists tend to have a certain art style or set of design preferences, and it feels like the dragons I listed off were made by the same person or group of people.
Whew, that's gonna be it for me today. I'll be sure to rate Yarr and Enfis tomorrow!
