The name Aperture is a reference to Aperture Science. The Aperture Science Enrichment Center is the location for the physics-based puzzles of the Portal video game series.
This is a marvellous nod from one game to another.

As well as having a great animation, Zipzap has zipped and zapped to first equal place with Ocular as the best dragon in the Colosseum for the Lightning element.
Because so many of the very best dragons for the Colosseum have only been released recently and not all players will have them, the list now includes up to six dragons for each element. (Thanks to samiam for the suggestion)
This is outstanding, MinyaZ! Thank you so much for beautifully formatting this information and always keeping it up to date.

Minor complaint/feedback - For Magic Tap the "How to Play" you get before the game starts shows bombs as red, but in-game they're orange. I reflexively clicked on a flash of orange thinking it was a chest and got blown up. >->
Would you believe I almost sold the dang thing? Not on purpose, though. I'm so used to long timers after all the treasure dragons from the last event that I wasn't thinking a shorter timer could be Aperture. I'm also used to seeing grand designs for the epic eggs, so when this short timer came along with an ordinary egg design I guess I just didn't notice anything different at first.
So I was clearing out my nursery, just tapping on eggs and tapping sell, expecting them all to be failures. And there was a split second before I tapped on sell when I glimpsed the unfamiliar dragon. I was like, "Whoa whoa whoa whoa!" And then I just stopped and stared at the screen. Thank God for that "are you sure you want to sell?" message that pops up! Then I realized what I had and I immediately canceled the sell. No way am I getting rid of this precious little critter.
So thank you amos for sharing your dragon and making my day! And thank you to the koalas who must have heard my premature whine. 🐨🌿🌿🐨
I did the exact same thing…except I only realized it right after I confirmed I wanted to sell it. Gotta pay more attention! Luckily it only took me a few tries in the Coop to breed another one. Still, I hate to waste a perfectly good twin like that!

Frankly, I don't like the way we're meant to collect evolve items. Racing isn't utilized. True community goals like when light/dark dragons were introduced would be welcome.
It doesn't have to be super fancy, but is a great solution when they're already developing, say, an entirely new habitat.
I think racing is a great way to pick up extra gems, dragon coin, dragon treats and rift energy...whether there’s an event going on or not. I tend to ignore the dragon quests.... so I guess it all depends on your game strategy.
Just bred a Zipzap after 6 (I’m sure) 14 hours in a row last midnight. I didn’t run into a single Spark Dragon. It’s literary all Wraiths and 2 Darkling.
Now I shall focus all four breeding sites on Apex since Burrow and Aperture will be annoyances while breeding for other stuff be permanent.

Is there a list somewhere that lists the best dragons for each race??
I was using the wiki list of recommendeds, but there are multiple listed dragons. Even using those listed, I’m only getting one chest, even winning first 😕 Years ago, I was part of another forum, the Dragonvale Breeding Guide. We had a list of each best dragon for each race. But I can’t find that anywhere online. 🤔
Am I just looking in all the wrong places?? 🙃

I don't know if it has been mentionned before: I had a Quest with lightning and dark which was called "zip-zippe-di-zap" or something like that. I strongly believe that this is Zipzap

I win the races most of the time by filtering using the leftmost element and epic. I get two chests about 25% of the time. I am to lazy to check which dragon is best for each race. I would be curious to know if this works for other people.
If you make note of the dragon at the top of start line, That is normally the fastest dragon for that race but there can be more than one possible.
The most constant way to get two chests is to get “perfect” when you tap your dragon across the booster lines. If you get all booster lines for “perfect” for a race, you can get two chests even if you don’t win the race. The trick is to tap as the lighted bar in front of your dragon crosses the booster line.
These are the races I had today and the dragons I used. A baby Crystal beat out my Quake in the second race:
What did you know?! My rift drought finally ended within my last 10,000 rift breed! After all the torture Victory pulled me through and all the secondary struggles with Stoneshell and Hypnotic. (Safety tip: Don't try this outside BEB. Just use Stoneshell with any matching element.)
I only have Apex left now.
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but your droughts have an extremely short duration. I wish my breeding droughts cycled round as quickly as yours do. I think you have a hidden stash of koalas in your park.
Maybe they are just hibernating? IDK. It does feel so good to get three of your targeted dragons or new dragons in one day or one of each of your targeted dragon in consecutive days.
Now if I can convince Apex to join my park, any shape or kind.
I thought it was two weeks since my last success in the pirate event (Traited Alure)

I use it for the same reasons, but I want it to matter in events again.

I hadn’t done the racing for a year or so and then when I started back up, I feel like it got harder, hence my searching for the perfect dragon list. I’m definitely going to work on hitting those perfects. 👍🏻

This is from my experience. I play the races everyday. I can get a lot more double-chests with “perfects”....not every time but a lot. I almost never get the doubles from just winning the race. I’ve also gotten doubles with all “perfects” even if I lose a race. But nothiing is consistant EVERY time... and not getting “perfect” on even one of the boosters blows it for me.

I want to use my rift cave to try for some dragons I’m missing. A lot of them require the Hidden element, which I don’t have in the Rift. Is there a way to try for a hidden dragon in the rift?

I got my few rifted hiddens within 10 days of trying in the rift. Problem is, they're not very good for breeding house dragons.

If you're asking for how to breed any dragon with a hidden element, I think that there are a few this time around that just need a specific Monolith dragon and something else; do you have any rifted Monolith dragons?

You’ll need a traited Monolith dragon to breed some of the base Hidden dragons. For this reason, there is currently a request for Deca to put the Monolith Egg of Mystery in the Rift Market, since that’s the only way a player can start the Monolith collection in the Rift.
But you can also evolve dragons into Hidden dragons: Aubergine (from a traited level 18 Berry dragon, Jelly Plant Log deco, Jelly Plants ready to harvest, and rain weather), Blotato (from a traited Sprout), Curlyleaf (traited Leaf), Karroot (traited Seed), and Vidalia (traited Seed). All these dragons have multiple evolve requirements, including specific decorations, dragon level, treats, and some have weather/other dragon requirements as well.
