UMBRA DRAGON
1. Animation: 5/5
2. Rift trait: 2/5 - The trait is too subtle; the web pattern should've been traited too.
3. Size: 5/5
4. Price: 4/5 - being able to buy its evolution decorations help a lot
5. How well does Umbra fit the theme: 5/5
6. Design details: 5/5
7. How much I like Umbra: 5/5
8. Comments/feedback for Deca:
Umbra is my favourite dragon from this event. It actually fits the Halloween theme very well. Despite being an evolution, buying its decorations is super easy, so thank you Deca! Unlike the melody dragons so far, Umbra fits the DV style AND it makes sense that it evolves from the scout dragon. AND it references Bloody Mary, which makes me feel nostalgic for the elementary school days when we'd tell each other scary ghost stories of murders and ghosts happening in the school My only quarrel with Umbra is that the web pattern on its wings should have been a part of its rift trait.

5. How well does Umbra fit the theme 5/5 The ultimate spooky camper.
6. Design details 3/5 That rad cape is cool and the idea is great. It doesn't really have much of a unifying theme though - I guess it's kinda skeletal, kinda evil emperor, kinda Spider-man? Unfortunately that just combines into a generically spooky dragon, so I have to take points off there.
7. How much do you like Umbra 3/5. Design is fine and everything else is great.
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) I'd say to keep the dragon's concept a bit more focused. Right now it's just "evil" and it doesn't seem to have much more nuance to it.
2. Rift trait 2/5 Not sure why the trait is so sparse, there was a lot of opportunity.
3. Size (if you don’t own Umbra, please check a friend’s park) 5/5
4. Price (17,400 Candy) 3/5 This price is high, but the cost of the Tent evolve decorations were extremely fair. It’s great that players could choose to buy or evolve Umbra.
5. How well does Umbra fit the theme 5/5

8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) Really appreciate Scout’s features coming through with his arms and the tent animation. This dragon fit the theme more than any other by a mile with a perfect blend of haunted camping, plus there’s an impression that Umbra is Scout’s Hallowe’en costume.

1. Animation 5/5 always a joy to see the hidden animations
2. Rift trait - 2/5 rift trait? what rift trait???
3. Size (if you don’t own Umbra, please check a friend’s park) 4/5
4. Price (17,400 Candy) 3/5 I'm torn because it's quite a high price, but then there's the evolve decorations
5. How well does Umbra fit the theme 5/5 SPOooOOooKY
6. Design details 5/5 great little details
7. How much do you like Umbra (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5/5
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) was a really cool idea to finish the event with something a little different though it may be an idea to release it earlier or as one of the initial ones so the decorations could be in golden boxes?

1. 5 2. 4 3. 5 4. 1 5. 5 6. 3 7. 3 8. This is the first dragon I actually evolved and I wasn't sure what I expected. Was sorry to see Scout's second head go away to be replaced by clawed arms. Yes it looks creepy, but loses a little for me. Needs to stay longer as the creepy tent - almost missed that part!
4. 3 (I'm going by other players' remarks - here we think Aloha, might as well think Ubuntu)
5. 5 (loved the tent)
6. 4
7. 5
8. The idea of evolving it based on actual purchase was a lot better than the gambling option, but I do worry about a lot of things littered around our parks like loose Legos. I mean, who can track the pixels?

This dragon saved the event for me! I guess Deca Games saved the good stuff for last!
Let's see what I have to say for this lovely dragon!
1. Rate Umbra's animation quality:5/5
Ooo, look at it go! The Umbra dragon has some nice animations! The body movement doesn't feel stiff, and for once, it's a dragon whose wings actually flap properly! I also love the arms clawing from the dragon's back. It really adds to the creepiness factor. Also, funny tent does a spooky.
2. Rate Umbra's Rift trait placement and appearance:3/5
Aww man, I'm a little disappointed here. The current Rift trait placement for the Umbra dragon is about where I would expect it to be, but there was so much potential for more Rifty parts to exist that would also be a lot easier to spot. Not putting the Rift trait on the spider web portion of the wings is a crime. For shame, Deca Games, for shame!
3. Rate Umbra's size:4/5
I think the Umbra dragon's size is pretty good! It's comfortably large, and I can still see it when it's living among other dragons! However, I think it would've been even better if it were larger to really sell into the whole "tent becomes possessed and 'consumes' you" theme. More creepiness factor, if you will.
4. Rate Umbra's price (17,400 Candy):3/5
Okay, so... I rated this category a bit differently from how I rated every other dragon before this one. This is because technically, there are multiple different price amounts tied to the Umbra dragon, depending on how you get it. Let's talk about them.
First of all, the standard price for getting the dragon outright: yikes. The Umbra dragon now holds the crown for the most expensive event dragon released by Deca Games, and the second most expensive event dragon in DragonVale history. Not all records need to be broken, and this one should've been left in the claws of the Tebori dragon from Memories of Paradise. You also can't breed for this dragon at all without using two of them, so you have no choice but to pay for it in some way or form. For those who had to buy any of the previous limited event dragons in this event, I pity you. I guess the good news is that everyone has the opportunity to buy it without already owning it, unlike the other evolution dragons in this event.
Meanwhile, buying a Scout dragon, the tents, and then evolving it into Umbra: yiiikes. It's even more expensive than just buying the Umbra dragon outright! It's 10,400 candy for a Scout dragon, 700 candy for each tent--totaling to 7,000 candy for all ten--and another 1,000 candy to actually evolve said Scout dragon. 18,400 candy for one dragon!!! I guess it's not as bad when you consider how you only need to buy the tents once, but still, that's a really pricey ritual for a tent!
However, if you already own a spare Scout dragon, it only costs... 8,000 candy? That's a steal! The ten tents are 7,000 candy total, and the evolution cost is 1,000 candy, which would actually make the Umbra dragon the cheapest new dragon in this event! What a weird paradox... simultaneously the most expensive and least expensive newbie from Into the Dark, and it all comes down to which way you want to get it.
With all of the different purchasing methods taken into consideration, this leads to my final rating for this category... 3/5. Yeah, I know that's a lot of prep-work just to give the Umbra dragon the same rating as most of the other dragons before it, but hey, it could've been worse! I could've just seen the 17,400 candy price tag and instantly slapped it with a 1/5!
5. How well does Umbra fit the theme of the event?:5/5
After three non-thematic dragons in a row, it's thrilling to end the event on a dragon whose existence in this event is justified! It's the perfect dragon to include in a creepy camp event! It's got all of the standard Halloween aesthetic qualifications, but it doesn't just stop there. Oh no, the whole gimmick behind this dragon being a possessed tent that can only be summoned through a name-chanting ritual? Come on, it's like this event was made exclusively for the Umbra dragon! It's a great conclusion to this event.
6. Rate the attention to detail in Umbra's design:5/5
Purple dragons with an overall dark color palette, my one weakness...
The Umbra dragon's design is really well done! It's pretty much the definition of a spooky Halloween dragon! The spider web wings, the various skeletal limbs, the dark colors, pretty much everything about this dragon is wonderful! The biggest selling point, however, has to be the creepy hands that emerge from its back. It's such a unique concept that was done incredibly well! Overall, the Umbra dragon is a really nice dragon visually.
7. How much do you like Umbra?:5/5
Hehe spooky tent dragon is spooky~
Jokes aside, I really like the Umbra dragon a lot. It's a great conclusion to an event that would've otherwise been one of my least favorites in recent times dragon-wise. Good save there, Deca Games!
8. Additional comments
So I know a lot of people weren't looking forward to there being a new evolution dragon, and I was one of those people who were nervous about how it would be handled. However, I think the Umbra dragon's release was handled really well! All of the decorations could be bought individually without relying on luck, and assuming you got a second Scout dragon to prepare in advance when it was first leaked accidentally, this was a really simple dragon to get. It could've been a lot more tedious, but it wasn't! I'm really grateful for that.
I kinda lost a bit of steam towards the end of this post, but now I'm officially done with Into the Dark! Whew! That's one less thing on my to-do list! Now to see if I can manage to finish my design contest entry in the next few days...
8. Cool looking creepy dragon, but I don’t like the extra arms coming from its back

1. 4 2. 3 3. 5 4. 1 5. 5 6. 5 7. 4 8. Umbra fits the theme well. I would have liked the tents released on the first week and you work toward earning them the whole event. I also would have liked an added element that would have worked for placement in a Spooky habitat. It really doesn’t match the hidden element or any of the other hidden dragons. The colors and design are great.

8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) This dragon was a really good recovery from Techno. Umbra fits the Halloween theme, has a lot of weird creativity and a spookiness with Scout’s arms waving around like Umbra consumed Scout and he can’t get out. I also really, really like how we could purchase the Tents from the event store or purchase Umbra. It gave a more relaxing and less stressful ending to an event that we’ve never had before. I really, really don’t like that the Tents were removed early. That was a big mistake and a lot of people didn’t have a chance to buy them. I hope you let players purchase the Tents for Dragon Cash during the next BEB or Dragons Week, no gems, to be fair to those who missed out.
