Thanks to everyone for all the twins I've been sent! I've been pretty close to Blue Fire for a lot of the time I've been away, and have actually hit it a couple of times. I think about three quarters of the twins I've checked off the checklist have been sent to me by forum folk (forumers? forumites?) so many many thanks, literally couldn't have done it without y'all.
Anyway, on topic, I come with the tale of woe that has been my attempts to breed a Rift Glitz. I was in a good position to start, with traited Yanghis and Jadice actually ready (this breeding chain gets worse every year! I can hardly imagine being new to the game and seeing it, it must look nigh insurmountable). I had a feeling on day two after my normal attempts (through 5k) that it was going to be one of those dragons and decided to burn my Etherium stash on it. I begin spending my way through the 20k breeds. Still no Glitz, day after day. I barely register the newly breedable bunch of returning event dragons, I'll be getting several of them from the Runestone Caves anyway, it's fine, I have bigger fish to fry. Today, the last day of availability. I throw everything I have at it. I traverse new depths of Etherium spending I'd never reached before. 150 total attempts this week. On attempt 150, oh, that egg! Finally! A Glitz!
No Rift Trait. You have to laugh. Or... at least make a forum post about it. 😇
Great to see you Arkynos, even if it is only for a fleeting visit. Congratulations on Blue Fire - even if it only lasts for a short time - it is still an accomplishment.
150 attempts for Glitz and then not to be rifted - it would make you feel like crying. I love the rift, but it is frustrating if after spending days for that particular dragon it gives you a non-rifted version. Time for it to be changed to give only rift dragons.

I’m so glad your back! Even if it’s for a flash. I had the same untraited trouble with Weaver, I think it was. But eventually it came around with a trait. If we can’t breed traited dragons in the Vale, then it stands to reason, we shouldn’t be able to breed untraited dragons in the Rift. It’s untraited nonsense!

A thought ... Double Days are good to breed Primary dragons with their Opposite dragons at a Runic cave, in order to get those 10 primary dragons, and receive those 100 berries.
I just breed two of the same primaries like Metal + Metal. It guarantees you get the primary dragon and 100 iceberry bonus with no fails. It’s nice, you breeze through the primaries really fast.
Since the 100 iceberry bonus doesn’t increase on double days, I don’t think it matters much if you breed them on a regular day or a double day, just keep the RBCs occupied with nonstop breeding. 👍

Ok, Thank you! I already have the wonderland, and of course the very FIRST thing I bought with ice berries was the polar bear winter theme, but somehow I don’t have a lot of the older element theme ones and I am unwilling to spend 250 gems. Hmmmm. Maybe I will just buy more polar bear winter themes! 😀😀😀🐻❄️
I was thinking about putting the polar bear island theme on every island for maximum holiday joy! But sadly, island themes have a limit of 25. 😄

Well no luck AT ALL breeding or cloning Glitz for myself or my grandson 😡 Finally broke down and spent event currency in my park after burning through a significant amount of gems 😩 Also, my grandson has been trying to breed Snowpocalypse since the beginning of the event to no avail either.
There are other examples of epic fails, but I’ll leave it at those two. This has been an extremely frustrating event to say the least.
Sorry for venting. It was either vent or delete the game again. For now, it’s still on my iPad. Honestly, if it wasn’t for all of you, I would have permanently deleted it, so thank you!

The primaries are inexpensive in the Market, and you only need to level them up to 4 so they can breed, which doesn’t require many treats.
Metal (level 4) + Metal (level 4) will always result in Metal.

The Game Reps had a discussion with Deca about the Glacial Giftery, its early expiration, and its lack of a Runestone.
Deca has agreed to add a Runestone to the daily rewards event calendar!
Please be aware, the event calendar will not be extended. Instead, it will be altered. One of the gifts will be swapped out for a Runestone. This is a lot easier than lengthening the calendar and won’t affect players who missed playing DV for many days and need to catch up.

10 days? So there probably will be a runestone. In fact, I’m wondering if the last gift is a runestone. That would not be cool for the newer players who can’t claim a tough to breed dragon they didn’t already have. We will have to see. 10 days makes me think runestone because they generally give 3 days at the end and you could still have it active for 7 days.

Ahh, this can be such a funny and fickle game! I spent last week going through mounting frustration as I was unable to breed a rifted Glitz, even after going up to the 40,000 E breeds towards the end. So of course today I bred a rifted Zero on my third try! Such is life with a game of chance.
Now I have time to try to catch up with the six rift dragons I still need to get that are currently available...

This is totally my FAVORITE dragon of the event. I know there’s another one, but it’s going to be really tough to beat this one. I LOVE the animation too. DECA really outdid themselves!

Zero’s last name is obviously Celsius as water freezes to ice at zero degrees Celsius. So this dragon is meant to be educational for the US players stuck with the Fahrenheit system (with three other countries worldwide….) 🥸

Snowpocalypse must be one of those dragons that's hard to get the first one, but then easy to get more. I was getting an avalanche of them when trying for Snowball. I hope you and your grandson get a herd of koalas soon!

Glitz didn't want to visit my park so I had to buy him at the last second. Though I will say that he's stunningly beautiful. Forgot to get his pedestal, dang it. I would have liked to have added that to my collection.
Hopefully I'll have better luck with Zero. It's kind of neat, because when I first started playing DragonVale, a friend of mine who was also playing the game went by the username Zero. She quit playing a long time ago, but I can't help wondering what she would think if she knew there's a dragon with her username.
