spent 2 hrs looking at dev compendium. omg it is great! it will help v much & will use all the time! i can see lot of time went to it. tysm for ur work! tysm!! <3
I found an issue with eggs being displayed. I had them sourced in several different methods, and it turns out that new dragon eggs (like for the current event) were not displaying in the Google Sheets app. They looked fine on browser version on the sheet, they were just missing in the other. Appears to be a fairly known issue with Sheets and images and Google Drives.
I rebuilt all the eggs, moved them to my Google Drive, and they're referenced correctly from there so that they'll now show up in the Compendium. No changes on your end is needed, no new version was required, it's all in the backend. I was able to recreate about a dozen eggs that just had looked terrible and get slightly better versions of them, spending much time with photo editors.
If you see anything weird with eggs, let me know. I probably missed something.
I'm planning on adding eggs directly into the sheet for the next version, and not have them all copied across the network. Then if you can't find an egg (like a new one) THEN it'll go across the network and get them. That should speed up loading things and make everything feel quicker. I'm just not looking forward to clicking 'insert image in cell' and dragging a picture over 700 times, lol!
OMGosh! The time u have spent ! 😱😳
Thank u! 😃 Very much appreciated!🥰👏🏻👍🏻

Version 1.1 is available. If you want to update, delete your current sheet and copy a new one from the link on the first page. Update notes are found there too. This update brings one major item: History!
You can now see history of dragons, when they were released and under what events. The Dragonarium tab on the Compendium has been updated to allow two views. The first is the traditional view from within DV, the Dragonarium list. View categories just like you see in game. The second view gives you a list of new custom views for this Compendium. All, Filter, and Event (now called Current Event) will be found here, along with all of the new view to see past event and new dragon categories.
You can bring up Easter Events and see events going back to 2012 and which dragons were released in which events. Or bring up the Milestones list, and see all anniversary dragons and 100th, 200th, 300th, etc dragons. You can see dragons that were fan inspired that made it into game, or all dragons under each house (go Hidden Bolt!).
This data was pulled from the Wiki, from Schmacklar's amazing dragon release document, and from various other sources to fit into the existing views. We will try to keep it up to date with new dragon releases. If you see any issues with the new layout or data, or have suggestions for new categories that you'd like to see, please let me know.
Outstanding! It is amazing having all this information in one place. I love the Compendium categories - especially the Fan Inspired dragons and House Dragons.

Quil I remember years ago when you were gathering data from forum members and later you mentioned having a simulator. It sounded so amazing and I asked you if you’d be putting it on a site like the sandbox.
I’m so happy to see your simulator has made it to us!! It’s so much more than I imagined it would be. I’ve been using it for the last week and it’s been really fascinating just seeing all the data not to mention how helpful it is when breeding dragons.
I just want to congratulate you on creating something so incredible for everyone and thank you for all your work!!
So, maybe this is the holes in my brain talking, is there a parent finder way to use the breeding simulator that gives the best parent combination? I can’t figure it out.

There is not. With the accurate percentages, those 'best' combos could change constantly as dragons come and go. There's a lot of work to calculate each breeding option selected to get all the correct numbers, with 700 dragons it would need to run that same calculation on 700x700 combinations, storing the data on half a million breeding options and updating it all the time. That's different than the Sandbox, which doesn't look at true odds and instead can store the results once and keep them forever, allowing fast lookup at any time. The Compendium is running the numbers as you're selecting the dragons.
Hopefully the Compendium offers enough tools to let you pick the actual best dragons to use in a combo. The Dragonarium Filter view is great for finding dragons that have common elements needed for a breed, and easily seeing which add the least amount of extra elements.
1.12: 10 Mar 2022 - Added Active Limiteds category to Dragonarium
This should make it easier to see what dragons are available from events like Dragons Week, page will always show limiteds that are temporarily available in game (or almost always, like Ghostlies).
Thanks for getting the Dragonvale Compendium up to date so quickly Quil. With the changes that Deca have made with adding Dream to Lightmare, Lullaby and Lumineux and then reinstating Lumineux's light element, it gets very confusing very quickly.
It is great to know that I can depend on the Compendium having all the correct information updated promptly and being 100% accurate.
Quil, what an awesome resource! I'd like to make a request and report a bug, though it's probably difficult to squash mid-event.
Bug: I know certain cells are locked to protect the data, but on the Runic tab, that also includes the checkboxes from row 638 down (from Party to Hyperion).
Request: is there a way to filter/sort the Runic tab? Or rather, can I add a filter/sort without screwing all the data? I'd like to filter out the ones already bred or the ones that need two-parent cloning, and I don't kn ow if that would break the sheet - also will adding formatting (eg strikethrough of all non-availables where I only have one) break anything?

Currently breeding for whatever twins I can possibly get my hands on
I can’t seem to sort my runic caves sheet by dragon to update which dragons I have gotten. When it was only 6, I was just using find. But now I’m up to 30 and I don’t want to type in every dragon every time I update my sheet. I’m lazy.
When I try to sort A-Z on the dragon column it tells me - “You can’t sort a range containing a vertical merge. There is a vertical merge at K2,L4”

Am I just doing it wrong?
Click on the top left cell for the dragons (Cell A2). While holding shift, scroll down and click the bottom cell in Column I (Incubation). That should highlight the dragon data on the page. Now go to the Data menu -> Sort Range -> Advanced Sorting Range Options. Sort by Column B, A->Z.
Once done, you can quickly resort it back by time by entering 'update' in the command line at the top right. I'll look at adding a sort option there in the future.

Aaahh, I’m using an iPad. Apple and Google don’t play well. So, I just need to enter the dragons via a PC. Like I said, I’m lazy and was trying it without a PC.

I'll look into fixing it on future updates. What's happening is that as new dragons are added and new rows added to the bottom of the sheet, they're not being added to the protected range exclusions. It's probably the 3 new dragons, Bellflower, and maybe a couple prior limiteds that were recently added.
A quick fix for anyone wanting it working now: Under Data->Protect Sheets and Ranges Look for Runic Caves except 2 ranges, listed. Select that, and change the first range from A2:A637 to A2:A Click Done
Filtering is a bit harder. I can't just hide rows, as that would hide summary/key rows from 5 to 40 too. What I may do is add multiple sorting options: Sort by name, time, and an option to sort completed records to the bottom so it's at least clear what's done and not done at a glance.

Yes, unfortunately most of the functionality is only in the browser version. That's why I added the clunky 'update' or 'reset' field, where you type the command in and it will reset or update the list. I originally had buttons, and menu options, to do everything but the Google app doesn't allow buttons or menus.
Another option, on the ipad, is you can open the sheet in Safari and not the Google Sheets app. Then you get all the menues, and you can still use your ipad. Long hold press when opening it through safari, and tell it not to open with Sheets. I recommend Sheets most of the time just for efficiency, but the Safari version works fine too.
I haven’t asked a stupid question in a week, I bet you were missing me.
Can you explain the percentages in the breeding sim? What do the letters stand for and what is the number in parentheses? Trying to determine if these help me decide whether co-op or in park cloning is better once I obtain the dragon.
Hiya, may I ask why is it when I copy 1.14 for me to use and edit, I get no result in anything at all?
Quil announced version 1.14 on Discord yesterday, but not on the Forum. I’m guessing bugs may have been discovered, so it’s not completely ready. Version 1.13 still works.

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
1.14 should be fixed, you shouldn't need to make another copy. You may need to refresh your browser window. It was just a permissions problem on the data sheet feeding it.

There's a note on the breeding sim page where it shows odds, explaining it all. I'll add similar notes to the Dragonarium page. The note should appear when you hover over the odds on the target dragon.
"The base % chance is shown. S is social cloning, N is normal/epic cloning, and R is rift cloning. The number after the letter is the chance to clone with 1 parent, the number in parenthesis is the chance with both parents the same."
So S: 1% (5%) for Lightmatter means Lightmatter x Plant is a 1% cloning chance in Social and Lightmatter x Lightmatter is a 5% cloning chance in Social.
On the breeding column (column J on the Dragonarium), the parenthesis is there when a dragon has different odds when you own one of the dragons already. A few do this, for example Air is Fire x Water with odds 100% (33%). That is a 100% chance if you own no Air dragon, and a 33% if you own 1+. A couple of dragons, such as Dargon, have a third value that changes odds if you own 2+.
