PSA: Big News Regarding the Habitat Prices and Double Days!
It appears there’s a significant drop in price to all the habitats, except the giant Olympus and giant Treasure habitats. At the beginning of the Pirates in Paradise II event, Deca had inflated the price for these habitats to 300 gems. Based on much feedback from the DV communities, it’s now at 150 gems. It may not be as low as before, but the reduction in all the other habitats should compensate.
Once the changes are in the game and confirmed, I will list all the new habitat prices.
Thank you Deca Games for responding to the players’ feedback and for the four extra Double Days in this event. Many cheers!
(This announcement will be cross-posted on the Deca Announcements thread)
New Habitat Prices
The new habitat prices are now in the game, so go forth and make your purchases! Remember, if you’re upgrading a habitat, the habitat price is the same as the upgrade, so these are also the new upgrade costs.
I included the original gem prices and the new gem prices so you can compare.
As you can see, the giant Olympus and giant Treasure habitats were the only ones that had a price rise. There’s a significant decrease in all the other habitats. This should be immensely beneficial for new players who have not acquired a stash of gems. I believe these changes are more than fair and definitely absorb the inflation of the giant Olympus and Treasure habitats. Hopefully, all players will also agree. Thank you to the DV Team, including RecallDoro and VibeLily, for listening to the players and the Game Reps, and coming to this solution. And many thanks to all the players who spoke out and expressed their concerns.
I’ve excluded the Olympus Reward and Spooky habitats from this list. Without BEB, they’re only available during events, so players will never have a chance to buy them for gems. But if they do end up in the standard Market during Dragon’s Week, they should be priced at 150 gems and 35 gems, respectively.
OMG this is fantastic news! I LOVE the extra double days and LOVE the new habitat prices. They are a steal now!! Woot!
Thanks so much to you and the Reps for working on this and getting the changes for us. Thanks to the vocal players who wanted the change and thanks to DECA for hearing us out!
So many things could be said, typed….whatever, here is my rant:
On both of my parks I’ve been trying to get the Ikataco dragon in the rift going up to 15k etherium and got nothing!! I didn’t even get one non rifted. For 7 days I got nothing!!!! WT…….insert last letter for this acronym of your choice.
I just checked the sandbox multiple times so I know I used the correct dragons (tidal and ooze) and had a 3.8% chance to get it. I got all the others that had a 0.4% but couldn’t get this one.🤬

I’m so sorry to tell you this, but there is a bug with tidal and the sandbox. The 3.8 chance is incorrect. I just never believe the sandbox with tidal. Try one of the .4 combos.
OOZE + TIDAL is the correct breeding combo for Ikatako. It’s a locked breeding combo. The sandbox Tidal glitch you’re referring to occurs when Tidal is listed at the top of the recommended breeding / cloning pairs, even though using Tidal clearly adds more fails and should not be recommended. The bug is outlined in the Help Desk (Help Desk > DV Starter Pack > DV Sandbox).

The percentages in the sandbox are approximates. This disclaimer is stated on every page of the sandbox. If you want more accurate percentages, use Quil’s DV Compendium. Ikatako’s breeding percentage is 4.5%. But I will say, Ikatako is a bit of a rascal. You’re certainly not the only one who’s having difficulty with him. He’s not as easy to breed as his percentage would have you believe. He’s a slippery, squiddy, scamp (scampi). 🦑🐙🦐
Sending lots of koala shrimp scamp/scampi your way! 🐨🦐🐨

It took me ages to breed Ikataco, and Euryale is just as bad. Some parks are luckier than others. I have only just managed to breed Euryale one of my parks, but have not been able to breed it in the rift in that one. Allure is also proving very recalcitrant - I have been trying for Djinni for 4 days in the rift and in my parks so I can breed Allure and not one single one has appeared. Very frustrating.

And now for something completely different. The new Surface Theme has two totem poles on the right side. When zoomed out does the larger totem pole have horns or does the plateau next to it have mandibles? I had to zoom way in to figure it out.
The Euryale dragon is packing up her pedestal and will be gone at the next reset. She's heading back to the deep depths of the ocean to await unsuspecting ships passing overhead laden with treats. 😊
As the anchor dropped, CORSAIR peered long and wide at the Vale from her ship. She could hardly believe her pirate eyes. 'Ahoy, matey! Pour ye a clap of thunder and splice the mainbrace. There be cyber-lubbers in this here Vale place!'
Corsair is in the co-op looking for the most seafaring dragons to help her in the next (peg) leg of her voyage. Koala pirates to all!

Ikatako may cause trouble when you try to breed him, but he’s still squishy adorable. And now, he is completely portable in his own travel barrel! If you rate all the Pirates in Paradise II dragons before the event concludes on 27 July, a keg of Ikatako will roll into your profile.
But that’s not all… to celebrate the second Pirates in Paradise, we have — more pirates! Last year, the Pirates in Paradise Rate a Dragon award was the Jolly Roger Dragon. The infamous skull and crossbones flag warns all who approach, 'Here there be dragons!'
Since some players did not have a chance to rate the Pirates in Paradise dragons, and members are interested in receiving previous awards, we will be offering the Jolly Roger Dragon once again.
Members who rate all the Pirates in Paradise II dragons will have the option of selecting the Ikatako Keg award or the Jolly Roger Dragon award. For those who prefer the Jolly Roger Dragon, please message me after you’ve finished the ratings. If you already own the Jolly Roger Dragon and would like to receive it again, it will be stacked atop the first one in your profile. For those who prefer the Ikatako Keg, you do not need to do anything, except complete the rating threads.
And to get you started, the first Rate a Dragon threads for Pirates in Paradise II have washed ashore

OMG baby Ikatako in a barrel is so stinkin’ cute! 😍

Corsair is a little too humanoid for me. But the colors are interesting. They’re very dark. Normally, I might not like that but it works with this dragon. I like the muted turquoise and purple. It’s just unfortunate they made the dragon look like a person.

Corsair is a feminine version of Yarr, just as Prestina was a feminine version of Prestige. I guess we'll have to wait till next year to see what the offspring look like. 😉 😊
Everyone sing along! It might bring me luck! (Dancing is optional, but encouraged.)
🎶 O there once was a Wyrm that eluded me, And the name of the Wyrm was the Sea Shanty! A hundred breedings and still no luck. Oh why, sweet dragons, why? 🎶
🎶 Soon may this dragon appear, To bring us coins and eggs so dear, One day, when the breeding is done, We'll take the eggs and fly. 🎶
Very funny! But eventually I was singing along to a funeral dirge and decided to just buy this one for EC. Sea Shanty changes bow and fingering hands depending on the direction he is facing. When facing left he bows the instrument with his right hand and fingers with the left. When facing right he bows left and fingers right. Must be nice to be so ambidextrous.

i agree corsair is human like. yarr not a fave last year. valedon spinky are great. pirate event is v good so far!
If anyone is using the Sandbox to find a recommended dragon to clone Corsair, the Tidal bug is alive and well. Tidal is the first combo listed in the Sandbox to use for cloning Corsair.
Tidal is not the best dragon to use to clone Corsair. Use an elder dragon or a high level hybrid that doesn't contribute any extra elements.

Corsair reminded me of Prestige and Prestina too. That’s the problem. I hope DECA doesn’t do female versions their dragons. Are we going to have a female Chuck for the next event, Charlotte? It’s making the dragons even more human. BFS didn’t do female versions of their dragons, their dragons weren’t male and female at least not as much as DECA.
I wouldn’t be surprised if DECA made Yarr + Corsair a breeding combo next year. That’s another problem. They keep putting last year’s dragons in new combos. It’s making it really difficult for new players to breed the dragons.

What is the Tidal bug? I have been trying to get a traited Tidal for several days with no luck. Is there a Tidal breeding bug or is it just the all too frequent low odds of success? Thanks.

The Tidal bug is outlined in the Help Desk on the DV Sandbox thread. MinyaZ brought it up because it was discussed, several posts above.
Basically, if a target dragon shares three or more elements with Tidal, in the sandbox, Tidal will erroneously show in the top cloning pairs.

Interestingly, Deca recently told us their dragons do not have genders. Although the conversation we were having wasn’t about these dragons, they were referring to a different issue.
I think in general, the dragons are not intended to be male or female, but Prestina and Corsair are clearly female versions of Prestige and Yarr. I truly hope this isn’t a new trend with Deca. If there’s a Charlotte dragon, I’m going to fall over. 😂
