In a plot twist, Deca created a dragon, and hotsaucechicken recreated a dragon based on the Deca dragon, then Deca recreated a dragon based on the recreated dragon hotsaucechicken created from their dragon. 🤪
We have officially come full circle and entered a new timeline. And Mesmer is better off for it.

This is the first design Deca has added to the Vale that is based on one of their dragons, and it’s also the first time a dragon has been added that did not originate from the Community Design Contest. Hotsaucechicken posted the redesign on Reddit last year, after Mesmer’s release.
Mesmerus is an evolution dragon with Mesmer as the base dragon. Collect all ten Idol of Hypnosis decorations to evolved Mesmer into Mesmerus, or simply buy him from the market.

Yeah, unless Deca puts the decos in the mini games, you have to buy them, or just buy Mesmerus. I know, it’s not good. I reported the problem to Deca, but I don’t know if they’ll change it.
I remember that when Umbra was released two years ago, it's decorations could only be obtained from the limited market during the remainder of Whitbee's Candy Bash: Into the Dark. For the events thereafter, they could be obtained via the typical minigames.
I would figure the same will go with the Idols, so thats one reason why I am buying them. The other is that I am breeding for Mesmer in the Rift, so if I do get one with a trait, I can clone it then evolve the spare one into a rifted Mesmerus.
But there were a lot of complaints about Umbra only being available for purchase. I don’t think Deca should’ve made that error again, especially with this event. There’s four dragons that cannot be bred, and two of them have dismal cloning percentages, so many players will need to buy them. Then Mesmerus was added and requires a purchase. We’re not earning enough Roses through Eggy Hatchy. It’s just a bad event format all around.

Sorry if this has been answered and I missed…….when you buy the idols do you get a different one each time or do you have the chance of a duplicate idol? If you get duplicates it could get expensive fast. adlerist

It’s cheaper to purchase Mesmerus, but if you want a complete Decorations section in the Dragonarium, or if you want more than one Mesmerus, the decos are the way to go.

The last looks like the most airbound dragon after air: no air element. Big chonky here: no earth element. I'm more entertained by this streak!

In all honesty... I get why people want their art style to be more like Backflip's cartoony style (although it does really bug me that some people expect DECA to be a carbon copy of Backflip) but I personally think they are much better at the serious designs. Not to say no cartoony dragon by DECA looks good and certainly not to say none of their serious designs look bad (*gestures to Mesmer*) but certainly with the most recent events, for me, the more detailed ones were better and the goofy ones were meh. I don't like either Lovesick or Nomnoter that much.
They're not my type. However, they admittedly do look good on the new hybrid plant/air/aura island.
As long as they're not super hard to breed, cartoon-y designs are nice breathers. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them. So, I can restock on roses that week

It should be in the Bouquet category, but it appears it's been removed. Oboekade and I both noticed this, I'm not sure about others.
Given that this is definitely affecting multiple people, but the decor hasn't been removed, I'm guessing it's a glitch.

UPDATE: It's still the case that you shouldn't waste EC on evolution decorations for more efficient use of EC. But you can't buy Mesmerus, because DECA decided we can't. This is rubbish, it stinks, it s u c k s, all the rest of it. Thanks a lot DECA
As with all evolution dragons, it is far cheaper and more efficient to buy the dragon directly unless you plan on getting a Rift variant or all decorations, in which case going down the evolution route is better. Unless you don't manage to breed Mesmer, in which case getting an untraited Mesmerus is still cheaper than buying untraited Mesmer and evolving (regardless of whether you have the required decorations or not, since Mesmer is more expensive).
It may be the case that the evolution decorations for Mesmerus get added to possible mini game prizes, in which case, whatever you want the decorations for, it would be best to wait till you get at least some of them from prizes before buying the toy chests, since that decreases the price to evolve for Mesmerus by 1000 EC each time.
Long story short: In terms of most efficient use of EC, don't buy the evolution decos just yet in case they're added as possible mini game prizes, and don't buy them at all unless you want all decorations or a traited Mesmerus. Also, don't buy untraited Mesmer just to evolve for untraited Mesmerus; only go down the evolution method if you get Mesmer from breeding.

I do agree about the terrible event layout for new dragons this time around. And to make things more difficult, the sole returning dragon I have yet to obtain is Mesmer, which makes getting Mesmerus even more of a pain.
10 000 roses is cheaper than any evolve dragon yet, I believe?
Unfortunately, unrifted dragons are pretty limited in their usefulness for breeding. That goes double for unrifted dragons that have 6+ elements.
It's simply not worth it to acquire an unrifted evolve dragon. I'm not sure why you would advise this to people. Mesmerus, especially, will be horrible if it ever does become part of a breeding pair.
I would appreciate it greatly if we had (exactly) one less unbreedable starter dragon. However, I do appreciate that the breeding pairs are much less demanding than DECA could have chosen. I'm fine with postponing buying classical. But, you really want to tick rifting any evolve dragon off your list. DECA has demonstrated an affinity for using them in breeding pairs.

Dropping Dragon’s Week and a FIFTH unbreedable dragon into this event sure was a Choice, huh?
Also I don’t see Mesmerus in my market either, only the chests (which I will have to get for completion purposes)
ETA: ahh I see it was another Choice made. Fun.
Absolutely with you on this one. DECA have really messed up this event in one fell swoop. Divi is the only thing saving this event for me.
to buy 10k event candy (the amount required to get all of the decos needed to evolve Mesmer) would cost $50 US. NEVER. GONNA. HAPPEN. the only logical explanation is that Deca is trying to weed out players in coercing them to quit the game. FIVE unbreedabke dragons (so far), while simultaneously chasing four or five limited dragons and all the new decos. No way to complete everything without spending HOARDS of real cash. If players can’t complete, they will drop out like flies — they will NOT spend $50 to complete. Deca is intentionally killing their own game. No other logical explanation that I can come up with. Am I missing something, here?
