You’ve analysed and examined every aspect of each event dragon. Now, let us know which Lovely Doubly dragons put the hearts in your Valentines and the love in the Vale.
If you’re new to the polls or the Forum, here are some helpful tips:
1. You must be a member to vote. This is a restriction by ProBoards and cannot be altered. An account is required to keep track of votes and to prevent multiple votes by anonymous guests.
2. When you vote, it is automatically recorded. There’s no Submit button. Backing out or clicking away from the thread will not undo your selection.
3. If you accidentally vote for a dragon or warm up to another dragon later, you have until March 15th to change your vote.
4. The poll will close on Wednesday, March 15th at 11.00 PM MST.
Also, in addition to the dragon ratings, I will include player feedback for the event. If you have any comments, suggestions, complaints, or compliments regarding the event structure, mechanisms, features, etc, please post it here, and I’ll pass it on.
Many thanks to everyone who participated for all your time and consideration!

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!

I would like to ask that, if possible, DECA try to avoid having more than 4 unbreedable new releases. 3 is a good balance of a challenge but not being overwhelming, 4 is enough as it is, but 5 (especially when one can't be single parent cloned) was a lot.
Also, I don't know if this is already a pattern since I didn't really participate much before Frostivale Yulebration, but I really like having at least one fan-made dragon in each event, or at least one on average. It feels like the community is included a lot. 😁

I agree. I really dislike four new releases.
Also, I would even like three limiteds instead of four-I know it's to help with income but it's quite a lot.
The Original One is in all things. The Original One is nowhere at all. From all creations, over all creations, does Arceus watch over all.
My biggest suggestion is that for Eggy Hatchy, I would like less of a point requirement to unlock levels.
OR, make it so that you only have to beat the prior level to unlock the next one, which would prevent players needing to waste a ticket on a level they already have earned the EC for.
It would also be cool if you got Roses for levels you replay to make it more incentive. However, I would say the rose give out should be much less-like 25% of what you get when you beat the goals the first time.

While I do think that having to waste a ticket or two to unlock the next stage is annoying, this alternative would be worse. If you got stuck on a stage you would not be able to progress; at the moment if you're struggling with a stage it is very easy to just focus on getting rares/epics and that will pretty much guarantee you unlock the next stage.
I do think it would be cool if there was more incentive to replay levels though. I have done in the past when I've had leftover tickets to see if I can reach 100k points, but while that's an achievement, it doesn't do anything. I think the basic daily tower could give maybe 2 or 5 EC for your second (etc.) win, then the advanced daily tower could give 5 or 10 EC, and the weekly tower could give maybe half of what the level gave to begin with (due to the levels being harder).
They would probably have to put a cap of three or so replays with EC though, because that could be very easily exploitable otherwise. But I do think having EC for replays would be a good decision for DECA (with the cap), since it would be an incentive to buy extra tickets.

My main reason for why I suggested that was because I always play the levels in order, even if I am stuck. Yes, this may be the definition of insanity (retrying the same thing until you get a different outcome), but I am just OCD to not play them in order.
However, like in your case, it could be annoying to get stuck. (But for me, and especially with the final mega tower, if I get stuck on one I get stuck on all of them).

While I like that this event is shorter as compared to the last one, releasing 9 new dragons is a bit too much. Event currencies were not too easy to obtain, with the cloning rates for a couple of the non-breedables being rather low. It would be nice if the evolution decorations are available as rewards in the mini games. I would happily use gems to buy extra games.
Eggy Hatchy is not my favorite. I feel that it is too dependent on chance and luck to gather EC, which is not that much to begin with. The basic tower is fine, but the advance tower and the weekly tower can be stressful and frustrating. I realize that they had made some improvements to this game before, but maybe they should relook at the payouts to make them higher, and lower some of the requirements (like lower levels or less number of eggs for an element, and less total points). In the past, the weekly tower used to pay out 1,000 EC plus a decoration on completion. Truth be told, I usually don’t bother to complete the weekly towers, and sometimes not even the advance ones when I don’t have time or when I get stressed out. I play DV for relaxation. If I need a brain teaser, I would rather play sudoku. 🤪
That said, I love DV and all the improvements DECA continues to make. As before, all the new dragons and their pedestals in this event are beautifully designed. Furthermore, bravo to DECA for the adaptations of fan designed dragons, their willingness to listen, and their inclusion of the DV community. 👏👏🙌
Finally, a BIG thank you to adlerist and team for their tireless effort. All your work is much appreciated! 🙏🙏🤩🤩😍😍
This was really tough event with nine dragons being released and five of them being unbreedable (counting Mesmerus). Eggy Hatchy doesn’t give enough extra currency for so many dragons over the length of this event. Overall, the dragons were too expensive and some of the breeding combos and cloning odds were awful. Newer players would have really struggled with this event with the price of the dragons and some of the breeding combos.
Can the size of the dragons be dialled back a bit please? Some of the new dragons are getting way too big for their habitats and look out of place with their peers.
Could dragons that were only released in the previous year’s event and have difficult breeding combos (Cupido for example) not be used in breeding combos the following year please. Even if they appear in a Dragons Week, it is only one week to breed the dragon which is not enough time.
There were some stunning dragons this event and the eggs were outstanding. Glassia and Brutiful really stand out as perfect Beauty and the Beast themed dragons.
It is always great to see fan made dragons being included in the game. Divi, Brutiful and Mesmerus are awesome additions to the dragon family.
Thank you for Dragons Week. It is always appreciated to have the chance to breed dragons that haven’t previously been breedable. Would it be possible to have the occasional Dragons Week outside of an event please? It is always difficult juggling trying to breed event dragons as well as wanted Dragons Week dragons.

I would certainly agree that if there is to be another event with nine new releases, please try to make the event time longer if you can. (Unfortunately the Spring event is big enough as is, so this time around there may not be that option.)

I would like to preface this by stating that I am eternally grateful to Deca for keeping this little game alive, and I would be happy even if we only received the bare minimum of keeping the servers running without any new dragons (but the new dragons are quite incredible!). However, I have a few observations that I figured I'd write out below.
In terms of dragon design, the Deca team has really grown considerably since taking over. I haven't had any true major gripes with event dragons in terms of design for the past few events, and I feel I can strongly say that the majority of the community is absolutely in love with all of your gorgeous egg designs. Rate a Dragon has been a huge way to facilitate community connection, and I can really see where Deca has listened to player feedback and adjusted their designs accordingly. So props to you all for that! It's not very often where one can look at a company and say "I really do think they listen to us" and even programs like the design contests, the spoiler contests, and even the game rep system are all very impressive and not very common, at least in my experience. Community is something Deca has been very good at maintaining (as well as the passion on behalf of the many game reps and community moderators/members) and I would encourage you to continue to foster this environment.
However, I do feel like the game's events, while all lovely in their own right, feel almost stale. We now have a fairly consistent theme we can expect for each event (love, spring, faire, paradise, camping, halloween, om of noms, winter, etc) and while Deca goes above and beyond in exploring unique ways of approaching each theme, I think it's important to recognize that you don't HAVE to fit everything into that box. The Zodiac event this past year was amazing, and thank you for not classifying its dragons in the "camping" category. However, I feel like events such as "Pirates in Paradise" have been somewhat skewed towards fitting into these themes... all the pirate dragons are found in the "paradise" category, and while it's not inherently incorrect, the formulaic nature of Deca's category choices sorely reflects these expected event themes. I don't think many of us would be upset if a new category was made for, say, these pirate dragons that don't really fit with the rave dragons anyways.
This brings me to my next point - I personally don't think it's necessary to add dragons to *only* one themed category per event. This is predictable now - in the love event, we'll get a set amount of new love dragons in the love category. That's just what we're used to. I would encourage Deca to of course include dragons in each event's respective category, but not exclusively in said category. This past event, for example, added a decent amount of dragons to the love category that I wouldn't necessarily say were warranted. I feel like Deca has settled into this mindset of "oh, looks like it's time to make more X dragons" without considering all the possible untapped avenues that could instead be explored. I feel this would liven the game beyond "38 love-themed dragons and counting" because it seems to me that these themes are very abstract and really don't require almost 40 dragons for just one concept. I'm utilizing love as an example, but halloween and winter are other contributors... at least their categories are broader, though. I think it might be beneficial to really stop and think about the different ways you could spin an event, including X amount of love-themed dragons but also coming up with other, new themes that DragonVale really doesn't encompass (yet). In short, I would encourage variety over sticking with the same old ideas that are overused in the Vale, not that Deca has been unoriginal to any extent. I also feel that the Dragonarium desperately needs reorganizing... but that's a point for another day.
I feel like, especially in this past event, the theme was sorely disjointed. Was it love or Beauty and the Beast or some weird amalgamation of both? This event in particular was a real offender where every other dragon seemed to fit one theme but the other dragons fit another. I know this might seem counterintuitive to my previous point, but I feel that they go hand in hand. If Deca comes up with, say, this specific Beauty and the Beast theme, I have no problem if we receive yet another set of love-themed dragons because there is a set theme to the event. We haven't always received that, and that's okay, but uniqueness and variety can be encouraged in these looser-restricted environments! Deca should have said, "okay, let's commit to one theme and run with it" instead of presenting us this half-organized mishmash of dragon designs. Maybe just a little story at the start of the event, or something happening weekly in-game to tell a story, or honestly anything different from the norm that conveys a unique theme. Obviously you all aren't Backflip, but events like the Color Guard that genuinely had a unique twist instead of "same old, same old" would likely be viewed very favorably by most players. In general, if there's not a set theme to an event, I would encourage branching out and coming up with new themes and ideas! And I don't think many people would be upset as long as we get an event at the "correct" time... there are so many themes that just aren't being explored yet, and I know Deca has the potential to explore them without following the same/similar formula they've been following for nearly three years.
I posted it in this event thread because this event's "theme" was the jumping-off point for my thoughts, but I can move it to Dear Deca if needed. Cheers!

Glassware and BRUTIFUL! I ended up buying Brutiful because over the 36 days I tried and tried to breed it; nothing happened. I was very disappointed by DECA not allowing many players to actually breed dragons! That is the major THEME of DragonVale, isn’t it? And I ended up buying Glassia because of the same reasons. Younger players are working, so they have the cash to buy Roses in market! But us retired/disabled players do not have that luxury! The first day a new dragon appears, it is immediately on my friends list. I’m happy for them of course, but sad for me. Every event I get further and further behind in my dragon collection! As I have posted before, I do not like this “collect objects, save like crazy, buy dragons…” I originally got this game in 2016 for the joy of BREEDING DRAGONS! But it seems as if DECA has forgotten this aspect of the game during this event! I want the hope, mystery, and joy of breeding dragons again! I am not happy with this event!😢😢😢

I sort of 90% agree with this point. I do think they could do with branching out a bit more. But being the structure-loving person I am, I also really like the fact that things are usually predictable. There is possibly a way of getting a balance between predictable dragons being available but branching out into different themes; I'm not sure how DECA would go about it, though. As you said and as I mentioned (I think in the Brutiful thread), this event's theme has been a mishmash of Valentine's/Beauty and the Beast. I don't think having two themes would hurt, as long as both of them were clearly related to the specific event.

This was a tough one. My final choices were: Glassia, Divi and Mesmerus.
Got a few thoughts to get through, so bare with me.
First off, the increased number of new dragons. I can appreciate the hard work the Deca team put into everybody, but it was overwhelming. Overwhelming and stressful. I play DV to chill, not stress over impossibly low breeding odds and making enough event currency to fund dragons I know I can't breed. 2.5% odds (or whatever some of these limiteds were) seems to be structured for endgame Rift moguls. Well, speaking as a Rift mogul, I didn't enjoy wasting my time breeding for the unbreedable. It happened last event too. Or better yet, that feeling of failure when the dragon finally arrives... untraited. I get Deca hopes to make money, but nine was just too many, especially with those odds. This leads well into...
Dragon Week. I can now, without a doubt, say I'm against Dragon Week during a Limited release week. I fundamentally don't understand why Deca doesn't put it during the Expansion Extravaganza. They say they want to maintain player activity and therefore don't like giving us breaks, but then give us a break with nothing to do but remove bushes and rocks. I feel like Dragon Week combined with ExpExt would help retain player activity by keeping us logging in through the week to breed. During an ExpExt/Dragon Week I guarantee players would still spend money to speed up breeds or outright buy dragons because a week is not enough time to get everything that's returned, whether concurrent with another dragon event or not. Putting DW on during this event and during a limited release just took away from the event and left me, for one, frazzled and frustrated that I couldn't try for much at all in any way. It felt like a whole lotta failure. And that is bad for player retention too.
Mesmerus. There was some discussion about evo items in mini games. I was very happy to have the evo pieces purchasable. It's too bad the release was messed up, but I don't even care. It happens. Lowering Mesmer's cost was a nice gesture and a lower price made sense anyway, given the 11k cost of all the pieces/evo. I assume the Mesmerus release was agreed upon quite a while ago given all the evo decos and the mirror had to be created along with the dragon. But with an extra dragon in the mix already, I feel like Mesmerus could have waited until 2024.
The theme. While I enjoyed Lovesick, Nomnoter and Lovonone in their own ways, they didn't fit the dance or Beauty and the Beast themes in my opinion. We really only had four theme dragons, two of which were based on the rose. Given we had a whole contest about Beauty and the Beast, I was a little disappointed there wasn't more related to it in the event.
When it comes to the more 'thematically challenged' dragons, I think in the future, the background stories could do more to fill in the cohesion where required. For instance, while Lovesick isn't an obvious shoe-in for Beauty and the Beast, maybe he went to the Gala and drank too much love potion punch. Maybe Nomnoter came, but wound up in the study by accident and found some secret love letters. Pricklefluff could be tripping up the dancing guests with its/their antics. Maybe Mesmer checked out the Mesmirror and fell in love so hard he evolved into Mesmerus. And Lovonone... well it's searching the castle for its other half (or sulking in the corner). We have examples of this from previous events too and I think it helped bring those events to life. OboeKade suggested above that not every dragon has to fit in the same category and this is one way different kinds of dragons could be brought together within a single event, but also maintain separate places in the Dragonarium.
Spoiler Contest: This was a really cute idea. It's a great way to involve the fan community. Thanks to everybody who makes it happen.
Eggy Hatchy: I know Deca gets flack for Eggy, but I think with the tweaks they've made over the years it's finally hit its stride. I didn't have any glitches this time around and the retries worked perfectly. There are a few levels that are super challenging and maybe put some players off, but overall it was a good experience from my end. I love Eggy so much, but I'm also exhausted and glad it only returns intermittently.
And that's it, I think. Deca, if you're reading this, a huge THANK YOU for keeping this game going. I know the criticism can come on strong, but it's because we care so much about this wonderful game. Thank you for listening to our thoughts and concerns. Adlerist and crew - thank you again for your dedication. What an amazing community we have! I'm laughing now because I wrote this in a text box labeled "Quick Reply" and I think this wasn't a very quick reply.
