In May 2021, The Spectacular Spectacle introduced Rate a Dragon. Members who have been providing numbers for the dragons since the start have now rated 124 dragons across 16 events! Along the way, we have gained many new players who are providing valuable comments and assessments. Thank you, everybody, for your time and consideration! Your input has helped Deca in their dragon designs and a lot of the feedback has been incorporated into our beloved game.
For those who are new to Rate a Dragon, Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release. This will allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utlilises to add player-designed dragons to the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and related to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on June 14th. At the end of the event, your feedback will be given to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Summerthings Magical dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your ratings and comments on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Please rate the Scribe dragon on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = worst, 5 = best). If a rating below 1 or above 5 is given, or if more than one number is provided, the rating will not count.

Comments / feedback for Deca
The post below is a template you can copy / paste into your reply so it’s easier to rate the dragon. Please be sure to use the template assigned for the dragon, as the questions may vary.
2. Rift trait 1 The symbols on the paper should have gotten the trait. They did it on the wings but why not the whole body? The parts on the main body look too random, to the point at which it feels like there wasn't any thought put into it. I agree with another comment that it would look less awkward if they'd gone with one or the other - not a half-and-half of random placement vs symbols being traited.
3. Size (if you don’t own Scribe, please check a friend’s park) 3 An okay size as DECA dragons go. Could be a tad smaller.
4. Price (13,000 EC) 1 This is not a good price for a first limited, even in an event with fewer dragons (and as such less time), especially since it was a pretty mean combo to start the limiteds with. 12k EC should be the top price for a first limited; this is probably more than newer players will be earning in the week it’s available for. Dragons with harder combos should also be cheaper than dragons with easier combos, as it's more likely that a player would have to buy at least one dragon to breed it, and then have to buy the dragon they were trying to breed as well if they didn't manage to get it.
5. How well does Scribe fit the theme of the event 5 Even without reading the description this is pretty obvious.
6. Design details 4 While I like the concept of the seals I would have liked it more if the red was a lot less distracting, especially on the wings (and they look more like Connect 4 tokens than seals), but other than that, awesome design!! Love the jibber-jabbers that appear throughout the adult form, whether intentional or not.
7. How would you rate Scribe’s breeding combo (Paper + Scryer) 2 It makes sense (although Scryer is a bit more tenuous) but that’s all it’s got going for it really. My main issues are the amount of elements in the mix and that Lunk (which is required for Scryer) is hard to get due to Bastion having terrible odds. I’d like to request that Bastion’s odds, and the odds for all Secrets of Spellform dragons, especially if they are required in breeding, are increased, just a little - to 2.5% or 3% maybe (though it would be nice if it was 3.5% or 4%). It’s unnecessary that rare dragons have such terrible odds, especially since none of them have good cloning odds either. I would also like to request that DECA avoid going past the great-great-grandchildren stage in breeding combos, as the breeding tree is already too long at that point. Scribe requires Scryer which requires Lunk which requires Bastion which requires elements and is limited, so can only be bred in this event. This is already way too far, so please don’t ever use dragons of this level of family tree in breeding. (Looking at you, Dortal.) It makes it basically impossible to meet the requirements in the time available (especially if you’re going to make it the combo of the first limited), and comes back to the issue of the majority of new releases being very much aimed at longer-term players. Yes, newer players have more returning dragons that they don't yet have, but I don't think they should be effectively excluded from even the possibility of trying to breed a new release. This would have been less of an issue had this dragon been one of the later releases; Professo should really have been first combo-wise, and Construct the second.
8. How much do you like Scribe (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4 Nothing to complain about really besides the trait, the red token-seals distracting me from the overall awesomeness of the design and the combo, no matter how much sense it makes. It’s not my favourite (though in fairness I don't think anything will ever be able to take that title away from Ignaqtus), but I do like it a lot.
Comments: As I mentioned on the main event thread, I think this dragon’s design is a good balance between Backflip’s more simple art style and DECA’s more complex one. I’ve never minded (and will never mind) that DECA has a different art style to Backflip, but I know some people do, so I was glad to see a design they’ll enjoy too.
Animation: 4/5 Overall the animation is pretty good.
Trait: 2/5 I don't like the inconsistency of the trait. Please, either put it all on the paper or all on the lettering, but not a combination of both. It triggers my ocd.
Size: 4/5 A bit too big.
Price: 4/5 Not too bad, although maybe a teensy bit too expensive.
Theme: 5/5 No explanation needed.
Design: 5/5 Love the origami idea. It's like a Kartana, but in DV.
Combo: 2/5 I really dislike the Scryer part of it.
Preference: 4/5 Although I do like the dragon, there's a bit too much going on for me to fully enjoy it.

5. How well does Scribe fit the theme of the event : 5

7. How would you rate Scribe’s breeding combo (PAPER + SCRYER) : 3
8. How much do you like Scribe : 4
Comments / feedback for Deca : I like how the scroll and symbols appear and Scribe eats the symbols. The traiting looks great and is just the right amount. Great design with him covered in symbols and the wax seals are perfectly placed. I would have liked him to be a bit smaller and to have eyes. Paper is good in the combo, but Scryer adds an extra three elements which seems unnecessary. It makes Scribe a difficult dragon to breed. There is a big price jump from Mushry etc to Scribe.
1. Animation 3/5. passable, but it didn't really need to have so many props and also the flying animation is a little weak
2. Rift trait 4/5. it's pretty great, though part of me wants to see how it would have turned out if all of its runes were traited.
3. Size (if you don’t own Scribe, please check a friend’s park) 5/5. not much to say
4. Price (13,000 Magic) 1/5. terrible price for a first weekly, especially with no added minigame this event to increase ec gain. (i refuse to acknowledge the existence of donation boards)
5. How well does Scribe fit the theme of the event 5/5. fits the theme very well. it's a shame the theme is what it is, though.
6. Design details 5/5.
7. How would you rate Scribe’s breeding combo (PAPER + SCRYER) 1/5. paper makes sense, but i don't think anniversary dragons really belong outside of anniversary personally. plus, it's absolutely not going to be included in the event market just like cotton didn't get put in the market last time. no comment on scryer
8. How much do you like Scribe (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5/5. a very beautiful dragon
