Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utlilises to add player-designed dragons to the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and related to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on June 14th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Summerthings Magical dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Please rate the Margento dragon on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = worst, 5 = best). If a rating below 1 or above 5 is given, or if more than one number is provided, the rating will not count.

1. Animation 3 It makes slightly more sense of Prestige being required. Not sure why it needs to dance, but at least its animation isn’t centred around that. The part where the light flashes out in all directions is cool but annoying, and as much as I love this dragon I think I’m going to have to put it in the fountain of youth since my brain can’t cope with the circle of light bit.
2. Rift trait 5 Due to its solely-blue colour scheme some traits will stick out like a sore thumb, but that’s bound to happen on most designs (the single colour scheme just makes it more obvious). This is the best place the trait could have been placed (though I was surprised to see the wings weren’t traited, even a little).
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park) 4 on average. (Split points: 4.5 without the wings and 3 with.)
4. Price (13,900 EC) 4 I’m torn. This is a very kind price for a fourth/final limited, especially given the very small price jumps this event, BUT since something of the Prestige line will have to be bought in order to breed it (outside of cloning parents), it would have been nice if it was cheaper.
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event 5 It’s another description relation, but it’s unfair to expect all dragons to be related to their events by their appearance. Especially events with very niche themes like this one — how many actually decent dragon concepts can you think of that clearly relate to school? I can’t think of much more than a book (Scribe) and a teacher (Professo). A school bell? A packed lunch? Unless dragons like that were overly similar to Classical and some Om of Noms dragon, they’d look silly, and not in a good way.
6. Design details 5 The only real ‘complaints’ I have are the scales (though I'm not really sure why I dislike them, I just know I do) and the fact that Prestige makes 0 sense as a parent just looking at their appearances. The colour scheme, like Lunis’, is simply amazing. I’ve been obsessed with Lunis pretty much since it came out (I caught the tail end of Suncrest Soirée and bought Lunis and Stella as soon as I could — luckily for me!) and I imagine this dragon will be the same.
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (Prestige + Lunis) 1.5 It gets half a point for the fact it wasn't Prestina and that Lunis makes sense, but as much sense as Lunis makes, this is not a good combo. Long story short: Lunis + Blue Fire would have been infinitely better.
Compared to Prestige, Lunis is actually a (relatively) nice dragon to use, besides the ton of elements it adds into the mix, and makes sense given their appearances. It’s definitely better than using a clone-only galaxy in a combo — what’s more, it’s a permanent dragon (besides RBC events and the days afterwards).
The reason why this combo bugs me is because it makes it unnecessarily difficult for newer players, because of Prestige. The main problem with Prestige is Stella, as Stella requires Starwing. The only way to get Starwing in this event was breeding Glowwing, cloning Starwing or getting either one from an EoM. The first was impossible if the player didn’t have Glowwing, which is especially likely to be true for newer players. EoMs aren’t a good reason to use a dragon of closed combo since even the specifically Chrysalis EoM has a small chance of giving Glowwing/Starwing, and it’s incredibly expensive. Newer players might not have even unlocked the Rift, let alone be earning enough etherium to get more than two or three chances at getting Starwing/Glowwing. This means that cloning Starwing is the only reasonable way of getting it, and I don’t like when breeding is effectively reliant on cloning since some DV players either don’t know about cloning or can’t add friends to get specific dragons they want. (Galaxies are fair enough since the NPC’s Galaxy cycles.) (To add to that, it makes Rift breeding of this dragon reliant on luck with the Chrysalis EoM, which gets expensive quickly.)
The very point of new releases is to keep longer-term players interested in the game, and newer players obviously have more unobtained dragons to try for so don’t need to focus on the new releases, but that isn’t a reason to exclude newer players from the possibility of getting new releases from breeding. Making something challenging (e.g. Scryer + Paper, though Scryer wasn’t very nice either) is one thing, effectively impossible is another. Dragons can obviously be bought, but Prestige was insanely expensive this event — it was only a couple days’ worth of EC less than Margento itself. And then, at the end of all that, there are a lot of elements in the mix and as such the odds for Margento aren’t good.
TL;DR Please don’t use dragons with closed combos, or their descendants, in future breeding combos. There are a few reasons why, the main one being that it’s unnecessarily unkind to newer players. I’ve seen countless newer players complaining about the difficulty of events. DECA has made it clear that they aren’t going to stop the constant events (at least not for the foreseeable future), so they need to compensate for newer players during those events.
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4 As much as that is one of the worst possible combos that could have been made from this event’s dragons (only Prestina would have been worse), I love Margento more than I dislike its combo. It does lose one point for the combo.
Comments: Please either change Stella’s combo or make Starwing available to buy (very cheap — less than 1k EC) in the events that Stella is in (preferably change Stella’s combo). This is important now that Stella is required in trees for four dragons (Prestige, Prestina, Morphimagus, Margento). Please don’t use dragons from this line of breeding (or any dragons that relate to closed combos) in future combos unless you change the combo that requires the dragon of closed combo (in this case Stella). If you don’t make Starwing available to buy or change Stella’s combo, please make the NPC wizard/witch’s dragon Prestige, Stella, Starwing or Glowwing next time this event rolls around. Prestige would be good for Margento and Prestina but it means Stella (and therefore Morphimagus) is still effectively impossible to breed if the player doesn’t already have Starwing/Glowwing. Glowwing adds yet another layer to the already long family tree so it definitely wouldn’t create any ‘balancing issues’ or anything like that if it was the Co-Op dragon, but obviously it would be preferable if it was one of the other three. Midnight had one sort-of-advantage over Prestige, that being that Stella could be obtained if the player already had Starwing, but it meant the player had to have Starwing to get Stella or its descendants from breeding alone. If you don't change anything, please reduce Prestige's price A LOT next event. Prestige was the second-most expensive dragon this event, despite having longer to have its price decreased than the new releases last year. It does feel like it was made expensive since it was going to be required, which isn't fair. Maybe I’m wrong, but that is what it felt like.
With all that said, thank you for designing another dragon with this colour scheme - I love it! I hope to see more in the future!
Trait: 2/5 Honestly, I dislike the trait being on the flames, as it reduces the beauty of the dragon.
Size: 4/5 It's a bit big, although the dragon has to be big enough to see all the details.
Price: 5/5 For the final limited, this dragon is CHEAP. Especially considering the breeding combo, I expected a price of at least 15k EC.
Theme: 4/5 The fact that it uses spells make it more fitting than most of the other dragons this event.
Design: 5/5 The crystals on the dragon's shoulders and back remind me a lot of one of my other favorite dragons, the Taurian Dragon.
Combo: 2/5 Although the combo certainly does fit the dragon in every way, the parents are extremely difficult to obtain, especially for Rift Breeding. On top of that, its chances are worse than usual at a 3% combo chance, which is lower even for most Epic Dragons.
Preference: 5/5 One of my new favorites. Certainly a good dragon to end the event.
1. Animation: 5/5 It's a really good animation, at that sweet spot with enough going on but not too distracting.
2. Rift trait: 5/5
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park): 4/5 Seems to be a pretty good size.
4. Price (13,900 Magic): 3/5 Not happy with the price, especially since the breeding and cloning odds are pretty low, and the breeding duo are pretty hard to get as well. Wish it were cheaper, at least closer to 13,500 or something.
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event: 4/5 The story is pretty cool, though just looking at it I wouldn't be able to tell it related.
6. Design details: 4/5 Great detail, only complaint is the way the plating on the dragon's neck- it just looks a little too inorganic, though I adore the crystals growing on it.
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE): 2/5 Pretty difficult to obtain Lunis, and Prestige is still very expensive.
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5/5
1. 5/5 Great animation, love the swirly bits. 2. 4/5 Much needed added colour. Bit disappointed there isn’t a streak or two in the wings. 3. 5/5 No complaints size wise. 4. 4/5 I mean everything could always be cheaper but I think the dragon prices on the whole have been pretty fair with this event. 5. 4/5 Another must read the description to find the connection but I’m okay with that. 6. 4/5 Quite impressive & the wings are phenomenal. It’s just the front legs that are a (common) problem for me. Bit of hypermobility going on. 7. 2/5 Ouch, not an easy combination. 8. 4/5 Not my favourite but a welcome addition.
1. Animation: 3/5 One point for not falling. I don't care much for the light swirl thing and especially the firework, but I can generally ignore those. The little dance is annoying, but it wouldn't bother me so much if the dragon's front legs didn't contort. As another wrote, he's got some hypermobility issues.
2. Rift trait: 2/5 Looks fine on the tail, but along the head and back, it just looks like a flaming mane - like Ponyta. In the wings, or through the crystals might have looked interesting. It's ok, but not great.
3. Size: 5/5 Not big. Works beside my Lageto and Blue Moon.
4. Price: 5/5 Happily surprised again. Thanks for listening to our concerns. I recognize that this dragon is much cheaper than it could have been. Watching the limiteds go by at low costs, I was concerned there was going to be a surprise 5th limited. Thank you for not doing that either.
5. Theme: 2/5 Based on the description, the sprite could have been any dragon that conformed with the animations. Without the description, this dragon feels like it came from another event, or the 'waiting in the wings', spare dragon folder. I'm not trying to be mean. It's a really interesting dragon. Nothing suggests "moon" or "school" though, apart from the parents and blue colour. The fact that it learned some spells to give itself wings and a roar doesn't make it much different than the dragons that can do stuff like this without human spells (e.g. Prestige, Kage, Keyper). Is he a squib dragon? The description just feels forced, I guess.
6. Design details: 4/5 The wings are very pretty. The crystals are also very nice. I wish his face was more 3/4 view since the rest of his body is. As mentioned before, his front legs are a bit weird. I like the baby!
7. Breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE): 3/5 Tough one. Prestige is such a hard dragon to get and doesn't seem like it was really required here. Lunis is less bad since we can breed for it whenever. Of course, with regular events, it's actually really hard to prioritize Lunis. Maybe Lunis + Crystal? I see it has air and plant as hidden traits. Why those two? Plant seems ludicrous, and air... given he's had to magic himself some wings with wizard spells, seems silly.
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 3/5
Comments: Honestly, he looks like he could be from a Deca Crystalline set (Celestite anyone?). I'd really like to know the backstory on the crystal scales since they really don't fit the theme, but are the focal point of this dragon. They're pretty, but when I look at him, I feel like he's hoarding my Soul Shards. Or should give me Soul Shards instead of dragon cash. I don't see the point of him having moon element. They aren't moon crystal scales that get magical powers from the moon, because, well, he uses wizard spells instead of dragon magic. I would have expected something like 'Margento dragons can only fly when their crystal scales have absorbed enough moonlight to activate. Only then can they grow wings and take flight'. With a quest like 'Moon Crystal Power'. Instead we have a grounded Moon dragon who what, decided to go to wizard school so he could make wings and fly with his brethren? Again, valid, but not articulated. "When a dragon spends enough time in the School... they are bound to learn a few spells..." This sounds like Margento's spellwork wasn't due to diligence and proactiveness, but chance through emersion in the culture. I'm left wondering why the Margento dragon was wandering around this wizard school in the first place.
1. Animation 4 somewhat excessive, might be ok with smaller wings
2. Rift trait 4, it could use some more on the wings
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park) 3 with that wingspan it should glide rather than flapping its wings, detracts from other dragons in habitat. it it looked like an outdoorsy type it would be nice in the Megatat. Needs a “heavenly” Megatat.
4. Price (13,900 Magic) 4
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event 5
6. Design details 4 except for size of wings
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE) 3 Harsh, certainly made up for the easier ones
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5 After regressing it into a juvenile

I started DragonVale as a collector, became a decorator, and then added being a Visual Storyteller. For co-op friending my ID is GKVale # 4024
1. Animation 3/5. it's fine, the head thing is cool but the explosion is a bit much.
2. Rift trait 5/5. not anywhere else it could go
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park) 5/5. it works.
4. Price (13,900 Magic) 5/5. surprisingly cheap for the last dragon!
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event 2/5. once again, i don't see how this relates to the event theme, and once again that's a good thing for this event.
6. Design details 2/5. this is completely subjective but i just don't find it to be a particularly interesting dragon.
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE) 4/5. it's not bad.
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3/5. very middle of the road dragon tbh
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event : 4
6. Design details : 4
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE) : 2
8. How much do you like Margento : 4.5
Comments / feedback for Deca : Margento is a good size and I like that his wings are tucked away when he’s not flying – they are big, but magnificent. The ‘come hither’ animation that he does with his front legs is confusing. Is he casting a spell, eating something? It seems unnecessary. Thank you for releasing the dragon with the most difficult breeding combo last, which gives 11 days to try and breed him. Lunis is OK in the breeding combo, but Prestige is a dreadful dragon to use as a parent as it has a very complicated heritage. Please do not use Prestige in any more breeding combos, it is now required for two dragons.
I love the fireworks show Margento gives us with the flares and swirls of coloured energy. And I love that they’re traited!
It would’ve been fantastic if Margento’s flame-shaped tail and 'mane' were animated, like Wilderness’s fire horns. I know it’s not an easy animation to add, but it would’ve made a world of difference.
2. Rift trait: 3/5
The fire trait is the only one for this dragon. It brings its flames to life.
There really could’ve been more Rift trait, since many of the traits blend in with Margento’s colour. So having the trait more prominent would have been very effective.
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park): 5/5
4. Price (13,900 Magic): 3/5
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event: 3/5
I know the description tries to link Margento to the magic school theme, but it is trying very hard. The magical special effects in the animation bring the dragon closer to sorcery school.
6. Design details: 5/5
Margento has the same style and animation as Kage and company. There are a number of dragons that are highly detailed with small heads and super small eyes.
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE): 2/5
The problem with the breeding combo is that Prestige is very difficult to breed. It requires Psyche and Stella. And Stella requires Midnight and Starwing. And Starwing requires Glowwing. So there’s quite a family tree. And to breed in the Rift, you’ll need to get lucky with the Chrysalis Egg of Mystery. In the past, on Rate a Dragon, players have asked Deca to refrain from using Stella in breeding combos. But that didn’t occur, so the request was extended to also refrain from using Stella’s offspring, Prestige and Morphimagus in breeding combos. Since that didn’t occur it has now extended to also refrain from using Prestige’s offspring, Prestina and Margento in breeding combos.
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 5/5
Comments / feedback for Deca
I like the blue colour of Margento, and I really like Crystal’s crystals on the body. Very nice, indeed.

1. Animation 5/5, the animation where the orb of energy bursts out into little particles reminds me of the move Roar of Time from Pokemon so it gets bonus points for that
2. Rift trait 3/5, I like the placement! The only reason why I have it as 3/5 is because I feel like it's missing something
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park) 5/5
4. Price (13,900 Magic) 3/5
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event 3/5, gonna be honest I'm not sure about this one
6. Design details 4/5, the wings are great, the colours are fantastic, but one little thing that bothers me is the head
7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE) 2/5, this isn't it chief, also prestige being a requirement for a dragon two years in a row is pretty annoying, and don't get me started on lunis
8. How much do you like Margento (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4/5, at first I didn't like it that much but after giving it a little bit of time (and also seeing the animations), I warmed up to it!

1. Animation - 5/5
2. Rift trait - 5/5
3. Size (if you don’t own Margento, please check a friend’s park) - 4/5
4. Price (13,900 Magic) - 4/5
5. How well does Margento fit the theme of the event - 4/5

7. How would you rate Margento’s breeding combo (LUNIS + PRESTIGE) - 1/5

Comments / feedback for Deca - the wings are amazing! The only bad thing about this dragon is its breeding combo. Prestige is a nightmare to breed in the Rift and Lunis isn’t that easy either.
'... overwhelming goodwill, and witty humour, profound grace and compassion blended with the spice of relentless taunts.'
