Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons into the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and relevant to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on May 8th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Bountiful Picnic dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

1. Animation - 1.5 - it gets half a point for the ear of bread falling off, but it’s a hidden dragon but other than its baby form it doesn’t get a hidden animation! I’m guessing the idea is that it outgrows its basket but it’s not a hidden dragon if it doesn’t hide!
2. Rift trait - 5
3. Size (if you don’t own Basket, please check a friend’s park) - 3
4. Price (18,000 Eggs) - 1 - but I wish I could rate 0!
5. How well does Basket fit the theme of the event - 5
6. Rate Basket’s design - 3 - I love the colours, but I think either its concept should have been like a hermit crab, seeking out bigger baskets as it gets bigger (and therefore it wouldn’t be hidden element), or the ‘basket’ should actually be its wings or something like that, like with other hidden dragons (something like Scout or Pond is an excellent example since you can see what they’ll use to hide even when they’re not hiding, and it’s actually part of their body)
7. How would you rate Basket’s breeding combo (KROKI + TANSY) - 1 - neither parents are horrible to get, but I don’t see Tansy’s relation besides hidden element, and Kroki isn’t massively related either besides colour, so the fact this combo has an excessive amount of elements with only very loosely related parents means I don’t like it much. I know the Rift primaries were changed back very quickly, but Deca planned to change them specifically after the release of the limited with the most elements in its combo, so I’ve removed one point from what I would have rated for that.
8. How much do you like Basket (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 3
Comments/feedback for Deca: I mistakenly said that this is the perfect hidden dragon, thinking the adult would have a basket to hide in. Now I’m not really sure why it’s hidden element, given it doesn’t have a hidden animation. If in future Deca creates hidden dragons, I’d love it if they would give them hidden animations, since that’s what makes them hidden!

Comments:
I'm pretty sure the wizards have moved into "taxonomic misidentification" territory. Wizard sees dragon hide = Dragon must be a Hidden dragon. The Wizards forget there's more taxonomically to a 'Hidden dragon' than just hiding. I'm pretty sure every dragon who likes dragon treats would 'hide' in whatever those treats were in immediately. And from what I understand of DragonVale dragons, that would be every single dragon in the Vale. I get that it's an endearing backstory, but someone, somewhere needs to get their taxonomy right. Alternatively, the hermit crab idea someone else in Rate A Dragon suggested would be a cute and appropriate backstory. And while not 'technically' a Hidden dragon, calling a dragon that spends its life in search of bigger and bigger baskets would have been acceptable (to me, at least). I wasn't sure where to take points off for this... so I didn't. But rest assured, it's a recurring issue with Deca's Hidden dragons.
Moving on to the positive. Did I mention that I ADORE Basket? He's got that perfect cartoony, 'traditional' DV look! His face is so simple, yet it emotes so much. He's brought so much joy to my Vale. I can't get over the bread/horn eating animation. The whole thing is so stinkin' cute! My only wish is that the baby actually came out of the Basket sometimes - like Arid. But oh my gosh, the line art on this dragon is just *chef's kiss*. I also really like the egg.
The adult's traiting is perfection, while the baby doesn't have a lot of traiting at all. Thanks for not putting the traiting in the basket since technically the basket isn't part of the dragon.
A big thanks for making Basket nice and big! It feels like the event theme was chosen just for this dragon and really, the backstory on this one was what I expected generally from all of the newbies. This would have been a good event to make all the backstories intertwine into a fun, dynamic storyline.
I didn't take off all the possible points for price that I could have because we had Runic Caves this time and no surprise dragon additions. Still, 18K is too much. Having said that, I actually bought one. Bleck.
The breeding combo doesn't make a whole lot of sense and the whole 'hidden element' feels like an excuse to make the breeding combo harder. It was definitely the hardest dragon for me to get traited and I fully approve of it being our last addition so we had the extra breeding time.
Basket is, hands down, my favourite of this event. Thanks for adding this cutie to the Vale!
1. 3/5 I like the eating its own ear (horn?) bit 2. 3/5 Nice placement on the adult but not enough on the baby 3. 3/5 Too big as an adult, too small as a baby 4. 1/5 Way too expensive 5. 3/5 The picnic hamper baby is perfect but not sure about the broken hamper adult 6. 3/5 Really like the baby design, clever & cute. Not the adult though. My least favourite kind of dragon, far too cartoony 7. 2/5 A combination that’s lost on me 8. 3/5 Sometimes I really, really appreciate the Fountain of Youth
5. How well does Basket fit the theme of the event : 5
6. Rate Basket’s design : 3.5
7. How would you rate Basket’s breeding combo (TANSY + KROKI) : 1
8. How much do you like Basket : 3.5
Comments/feedback for Deca : I like the simple design of Basket and the colours used. Nicely traited. Is it a breadstick that drops from Basket’s head which it then eats or is it part of its own head? Rather a strange animation. I’m disappointed with Basket’s hiding animation – the adult doesn’t have one. Hidden dragons generally have a not so literal interpretation to hiding, it is more like camouflage – they hide in plain sight. They aren’t playing hide and seek in a basket or a pot of gold. For great examples look at Cumberpatch or Plateau. While the parents for Basket aren’t too difficult to obtain, putting them together made Basket a proper ‘basket’ to breed. It has six elements in its breeding combo, 71 possible fails and 15 of them are over 18 hours. After breeding at least 16 times in the Rift each day, I was finally successful on the last day it was available and bred a Basket in the Rift – thankfully with a trait. In case it was too subtle, Basket’s breeding odds are too low.
3. Size (if you don’t own Basket, please check a friend’s park): 5
4. Price (18,000 Eggs): 3
5. How well does Basket fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Basket’s design: 4
7. How would you rate Basket’s breeding combo (TANSY + KROKI): 2
8. How much do you like Basket (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 4

The animation is so joyful! Nobody is more excited about a picnic than Basket. I love the bouncing on its curled body, it really gives depth to this dragon, like it’s soft and a little squishy. Reminds me of Lunk’s bounding animation. Absolutely hilarious when Basket loses its flatbread horn, and then promptly eats it! I have no idea why it does that, but naan is delicious, so who could resist?
Hidden dragons transform and hide into other objects. Pond becomes a pond, Tulip looks like a tulip, etc. Basket doesn’t do this. The baby version hides in a basket, but doesn’t become a basket. The adult looks nothing like a basket, just has some broken wicker remnants on its body. Basket would’ve been much better as a limited rare dragon with no hidden element.
This dragon is very difficult to breed with many, many long breeding fails. There are six elements in Basket’s breeding combo, which further dilutes the breeding percentage. Woven + Flowerhop would’ve been a fantastic breeding combo. Woven is the perfect parent for Basket and an interesting addition to this event. Bees are a staple at picnics, so Flowerhop could’ve merged seamlessly. The number of elements in the combo would have been four, preventing the low breeding percentage, removing the unnecessary hidden element, and minimising the endlessly long breeding fails.

1. Animation 3/5, very good animations but this loses points because of the absence of a hide animation
2. Rift trait 5/5
3. Size (if you don’t own Basket, please check a friend’s park) 5/5
4. Price (18,000 Eggs) 2/5
5. How well does Basket fit the theme of the event 5/5
6. Rate Basket’s design 4/5
7. How would you rate Basket’s breeding combo (TANSY + KROKI) 3/5
8. How much do you like Basket (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4/5
Comments/feedback for Deca Weird this dragon is hidden element but doesn't hide (yes I know the hatchling hides but usually adults are the ones with hide animations) Other than that, great addition!
