Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons into the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and relevant to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on June 26th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Upheaval of the Medieval dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Judging by main thread comments my opinion might not be popular, but this is how I felt immediately after seeing the in-game notification for Armor, and it’s still how I feel, so I’m sharing it anyway. I hope it doesn't come across as too negative - I've tried to be as positive as possible without lying about how I feel.
1. Animation - 3.5 - very cool idea but, while it’s not a reskin, it is essentially the same idea as Construct’s animation. I realise that probably wasn’t intentional (I mean, at this point, it clearly wasn’t intentional cos otherwise it’d just be a blatant reskin) but it still doesn’t feel unique enough to me. That said, I happen to like the concept behind Construct’s animation, and the concept really fits this dragon too, hence why I scored so high. I just wish this had been incorporated into Plate’s animation, which is rather lackluster imo, as (as you shall see) I don’t see much point for both of these dragons to exist.
I will say, when I suspected Plate could be a reskin of Construct after seeing its head on the loading screen, the reason why I was sort of okay with that possibility was that a Construct-esque animation would work very well for a dragon whose whole thing is being armour. Armor’s animation was pretty much what I was imagining for Plate when I thought it was gonna be a sentient armour set rather than a dragon wearing armour. So that probably explains why I’m okay with Armor fulfilling the role I thought Plate was gonna play in the animation department. Animation and concept are the two things about Armor that I prefer over Plate, though ultimately Plate is still my favourite armour dragon overall.
2. Rift trait - 4
3. Size (if you don’t own Armor, please check a friend’s park) - 5
4. Price (16500 Magic) - 2 - which I feel is generous. It only isn’t 1 because the earlier prices were decent. Really disappointing, especially for a dragon with a difficult combo and horrible cloning odds. Yes, epics deserve to be more expensive, but since Deca has decided that they also must always have the worst Co-Op odds, they just shouldn’t be this expensive anymore, especially when they also have low combo odds.
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event - 5
6. Rate Armor’s design - 2 - (which again I feel is rather generous given my own opinion of it, but it gets a point for its concept, since that isn’t a separate question.) I like the concept, but it doesn’t have an actual design outside of a faint shape and stuff that Plate already did, better imo, in this event. And while the concept is nice, it unfortunately means it has very little colour since the dragon itself is invisible, so it just looks so bland! Since I’m trying to be as positive as possible: fwiw, I do think the grey and yellow chosen go very well together. (But they also went well together on Plate, and Plate had a few more interesting colours, hence why I prefer Plate.)
Side note, I think it’d be cool if Deca could add a ‘rate the concept’ question to these RAD threads, because in that case this dragon would get 5 for that. Invisible dragon spooking Nogard by wearing floating armour? Yes please!
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE) - 2 - again, kinda generous, but I’m tryna be as positive as I can. Design-wise they fit, but concept-wise they don’t, they both have terrible odds, and it’s a combo with 6 elements for a dragon with a horrible price and Co-Op chance, so I don’t feel this score deserves any higher than 2 at a stretch.
8. How much do you like Armor (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 1.5 - I considered rating yet another generous 2 but since I’ve already given it three generous 2’s, it gets a 1.5 here. Like Arcane, I really don’t hate it, but to me it is unmemorable and unnecessary. I feel more emotion towards it than Arcane, which just didn’t make me feel anything (at least until someone pointed out it was a reskin lol), but those emotions are mostly negative. Everything adds up and honestly I’d probably rate 1 here if it weren’t for the fact I’m trying not to suggest I actively hate the dragon, cos I don’t.
It’s just... say hypothetically this dragon didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be thinking to myself “hey I want an armour-wearing dragon that’s invisible for some reason”, because we’ve already got the main thing — an armour-wearing dragon — with Plate. Maybe I might go “hey I wish Plate had in fact been an invisible dragon and his armour floated around from time to time”, but I wouldn’t feel the need for a whole new dragon just for that, especially since I think Plate is pretty much perfect as he is. As I said, there’s not much to Plate’s animation, which imo is the main thing bringing it down, so Armor’s animation and concept could’ve been added to Plate. Maybe the dragon itself phases in and out of visibility and its armour floats around sometimes.
As mentioned, I honestly find its concept more interesting than Plate’s, but the fact this is literally the same as Plate except (1) the shape, (2) the dragon is almost invisible and (3) the armour floats around sometimes means I don't find it unique enough. It’s essentially a (1) reshaped (2) Ghostly Plate with a (3) Construct-esque animation. It’s cool and similar to two of my favourite dragons but, due to its similarity, unnecessary in my eyes.
Additional comments: While I really don't like the evolution mechanic, especially when the evolution dragon is first released in the same event that their base was first released (*ahem* Loveydovey), this being an evolution of Plate or vice versa is the best way to justify both of these dragons even existing, let alone being newly released in the same event. Idk, maybe Armor became so intrinsically related to the plates of armour it took from Nogard that it evolved into an armour-infused Plate dragon. Either that or one is used in the combo for the other. (Their eggs are practically the same as well! I was using Armor in Co-Op to get a pedestal, later saw the icon for a brief second and thought to myself ‘why am I using Plate in Co-Op?’ before I looked closer and remembered Armor existed, lol.) Like I say I do actually prefer the concept over Plate, which is just a dragon wearing armour, but Plate is so much more aesthetically pleasing (especially given it actually has some colours other than grey, yellow and translucent white), and if I ever want to watch items floating around I’ll just go and watch Construct being its gloriously Construct-y self. It’s not a reskin of either dragon, at least, but that’s all it’s got going for it in my eyes, which is the bare minimum for me. Personally, I found this a disappointing end of the event. It’s a shame Plate kinda stole its thunder in a way, as to me this would be a perfectly okay dragon on its own, but personally I’m glad Plate was released first as I do think it’s the better armour-based dragon.
Finally... going forward, please make sure all dragons either have 2%+ combo odds, 2%+ single parent Co-Op cloning odds, or both. Anything under 2% will take longer than 10 days to get in the majority of cases, even if breeding in the Rift. And since it seems even events that start of reasonably priced will end up being badly priced later on, Deca needs to start focusing on better combos and odds to counteract the fact most non-late-game players won’t be able to afford what they want. I completely understand that the point of this game is that it takes a while, but I’ve been playing for over a decade. Newer players aren’t going to be as used to the fact that this is how this game works. If they’re playing events and are regularly (or even always) barely scratching even the surface of everything they want, they’re very at risk of being discouraged from playing, even if they know that the dragons will come back next year.
Last Edit: Jun 21, 2024 3:56:48 GMT -6 by kaleni#0146: Forgot to rate the trait originally
3. Size (if you don’t own Armor, please check a friend’s park) - 4/5
4. Price (16,500 Magic) - 3/5
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event - 4/5
6. Rate Armor’s design - 4/5
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE) - 1/5
8. How much do you like Armor (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 4/5
Comments/feedback for Deca - love this dragon and idea! really wish there was a bit more armour or the ghostly body showed up more but it's a great addition. the combo is very confusing, is it a reference to something?
4 - Super cool, love how everything floats around. I would've preferred if the silhouette faded in rather than expanding out from the armor, but I understand why it does that.
2. Rift trait
4 - It's fine, I would've preferred if the gold accents were traited instead though.
3. Size (if you don’t own Armor, please check a friend’s park)
2 - Too small considering it's part Epic and quite skinny when its dragon form is hidden.
4. Price (16,500 Magic)
1 - Bad. Too high, like ridiculously too high.
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event
5 - See Plate.
6. Rate Armor’s design
4 - I wish the silhouette was visible more than it wasn't. If it were visible when walking, flying, etc. and only disappears when the pieces start flying around and falling apart and all that, it would be a more appealing design in my opinion. With the way it is now, it can be easy to miss when scrolling through my Park.
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE)
2 - I don't really get it. Is Sparkles like enchanting Eve's armor? I think if Plate had come out last year, it would've been perfect for this combo. With the elements it has, I would've preferred its combo be (PHANTOM + PLATE) or (CURSE + PLATE) and have it release next year or something instead.
8. How much do you like Armor (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)
4 - I think it would've been a 5, if not for being so hard to see (which is the point, but still).
Comments/feedback for Deca
Can we get the Hidden element added to this dragon? It would fit it in a very obvious way.

ARMOR DRAGON 1. 3 2. 4 3. 4 4. 1 since you don’t really get a dragon just a hint of one paying this price for a set of armor is ridiculous. 5. 3 the armor fits the theme 6. 2 7. 2 8. 2
Last Edit: Jun 21, 2024 16:48:34 GMT -6 by dragonglow
4. Price (16,500 Magic): 3, it is expensive when the dragon is difficult to breed and with only 1% cloning odds
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Armor’s design: 5
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE): 2, I don’t get the meaning of these 2 parents
8. How much do you like Armor: 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: I love this dragon and its backstory, and the armor falling to pieces. Would love for it to show a bit more of itself. 😉.. The breeding combo is brutal. The 6 elements with metal in the mix leads to a number of long rainbow and treasure fails. The actual breeding odds is down to 1.8%. There are 75 outcomes with 30 dragons that require over 18 hrs breeding and incubation time. I am still trying for a traited version in one park, after over a week of up to 15,000E breeding attempts.
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event : 5
6. Rate Armor’s design : 5
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE) : 2
8. How much do you like Armor : 5
Comments/feedback for Deca : I really like the idea of Armor being invisible dragon and wearing armor. Armor could have been a little bigger. Really like the collapsing and swirling armor animation. Nice detail on the armor with great trait placement. Another difficult breeding combo which contributes six elements. Sparkles and Eve are OK to breed, but I don’t understand why they are used in Armor’s breeding combo as they don’t seem to make sense. The combo gives the impression of adding dragons to give a lot of breeding elements and fails rather than the suitability for the resulting dragon. A great dragon spoiled by the breeding combo.
1. 5/5 Fabulous & funny animation 2. 5/5 Great placement 3. 4/5 Not a usual complaint for me but could be bigger 4. 3/5 Definitely a regular complaint for me, could be cheaper 5. 5/5 A perfect fit 6. 5/5 Great concept, different & quirky 7. 1/5 Nothing about this combination makes sense to me 8. 5/5 Love it (just not its parentage)

1. Animation: 5/5, I love how convincingly the animation sells that there's a dragon supporting all the armour! This animation knows just when to lean into the armour clanking around realistically to sell the dragon shape, and when to go full ethereal and collapse all the pieces or have them floating around! You get just enough of a glimpse of this dragon for it to be fun and mysterious, but the armour always feels like there's a consciousness possessing it, even though you can't see it. You can easily tell when this dragon is walking, flying, or even roaring without even having to see it at all. One of the most fun and clever animations in the game in my opinion, reminds me a lot of Construct!
2. Rift trait: 5/5, Adds an extra detailing to the armour.
3. Size: 4/5, Could be a little bigger given that it doesn't take up much visual space.
4. Price (16,500 Magic): 1/5, Awful.
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event: 5/5
6. Rate Armor’s design: 5/5, I love the concept and this fixes a lot of issues with Plate's design for me. Plate feels a lot like a generic dragon that just has armour on, whereas this one is an actual embodiment of the idea taken to its fullest, and without the clutter on Plate. It has just the right amount of fun detail and gilding on the armour that it doesn't get messy, while keeping the palette and design simple enough that the animation can go absolutely nuts. Even the ghostly dragon that shows up sometimes has a really nice colour and shape to it, always keeping the focus on the armour itself and adding a lot of intrigue, but also elegance, contrasted with how clunky you'd expect a war-like dragon to look. It makes sense given that this was meant to be display armour! I also love how the baby just gets a little helmet!
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE): 1/5, This makes absolutely no sense thematically or aesthetically, is difficult to get, and tanks the odds of getting this dragon severely. Probably the worst combination of this event. Plate makes so much more sense, but if that one wasn't chosen because it's also new, why not Construct? It even makes sense thematically as inanimate objects given life, and like I mentioned before, their falling apart gimmick is similar.
8. How much do you like Armor: 5/5, My absolute favourite design of this event! Creative, out of the box designs like this are always going to end up favourites of mine, especially with such good quality animation. When I saw the design I was so worried it would be let down by the animation like Nimue, but I feel that this concept was executed perfectly. I love the idea of this armour clomping around like a walking display piece, not noticing how odd and ghostly it looks, then falling apart when it's upset or frightened and scaring people inadvertently. The little ethereal details like the wings seeming to burn and looking sort of angelic, plus how elegant it looks in general just add so much to this dragon. I'm chuffed with him, one of my new favourites overall
3. Size (if you don’t own Armor, please check a friend’s park) 4/5
4. Price (16,500 Magic) 1/5
5. How well does Armor fit the theme of the event 5/5
6. Rate Armor’s design 3/5
7. How would you rate Armor’s breeding combo (SPARKLES + EVE) 1/5
8. How much do you like Armor (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3/5
Comments/feedback for Deca: i would have liked to see the rift trait color the dragon instead of the armor. LOL #8 Loss of Lurking
